Magnolia Medical Center (Part 2)

Lot Description:

This hospital has 4 exam rooms, each with 2 beds, an x-ray room, a stress test room, lab, nursery (just for looks), 2 operating rooms, an office for the head doctor (also just for looks), three waiting rooms, one kids waiting room and a cafeteria.  Part 1 shows the outside and the floorplan screenshots.  In my opinion it seems to flow well and has everything you need, as far as I’ve encountered in playtesting, for the doctor career.  Instructions: Travel with your sim in the doctor career to the hospital lot. Type bb.enablefreebuild in the cheat box, accessed by ctrl/shift/c. Place the lot and change the lot type to medical center.

Magnolia Medical Center (Part 1)

Lot Description:

This is a hospital I built and have been playtesting for awhile now.  There are a lot better hospitals on the gallery but I wanted a simple one that was easy to play in and realistic but also “simified,” if that makes any sense.  These screenshots just show the outside and the floorplan.  Part 2 will focus on the inside of the building.

To Grandma's House We Go

Lot Description:

I was on vacation when Nifty Knitting came out so I'm just now getting to build with it. This house is perfect for your sweet little grandma who loves to knit, garden, and spend time with her grandchildren. There are a few activities for when the grand kids come to visit. There is also a little shed that has a floral arranging table and candlemaking station. Grandma will have plenty of things to keep her busy during her golden years. I've also uploaded the grandma sim I used to playtest.

Lot Type: Residential

I have a save that I'm working on and it's full of ea redos and any other favorite lots of mine that fit into the save. It's basically almost just your builds at this point ❤️ you're makeovers are exactly what I need and your other builds are just as awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your work I'm a huge fan of your Tumblr ❤️❤️❤️

Awww, thank you so much for telling me that! I love that you’re using them. I really enjoy building and especially decorating but it makes it even more enjoyable when people are using the builds I share. Especially since I build, play test and really don’t play in them anymore after that. Thank you again! That made my day! 😊

The Caboose Bar and Grill

Lot Description:

This is just a simple edit of The Caboose, the bar that came with Eco Lifestyle. I just filled it out a little more and added more activities. I also like to add grills to bars so the sims have more food options."This old train station is now the perfect place to house a simple bar where people can get together and talk about a time when there was an old train station here."

The Shipping Views Redo

Lot Description:

To be honest, shipping container homes aren't my favorite but I was inspired by a couple on "Living Big in a Tiny House" that lived in a home similar to this one. This home has a lot of the new items you need for an Eco Lifestyle.

The Old Mill Reno

Lot Description:

I wanted to keep this build in a similar style but just fix a few things. It's still a little higglety pigglety but I just made it make a little more sense.  "This beautifully repurposed space that sits at the base of the Croftville Dam is a meeting-place of past and present, as a modern home lives in the shell of a classic wood mill."

Modern Farmhouse Starter

Lot Description:

I was watching a YouTube video and they were saying they didn't want to be "that guy" that uses every pack in every build so I decided I'm not going to be "that guy" either. I give you a base game starter. It does use some debug items because I couldn't leave it looking unfinished but they are all base game as well. There is a small room in the back that you can add a stackable washer and dryer if you have Laundry Day. Also, I couldn't afford an outdoor trashcan so you'll have to save for it. They should be free like in real life... They are where I live anyway.

*Note* I’m behind on posting my last few builds on Tumblr.  I’m not very good at taking screenshots to show off my builds so I’ve been putting them off.  This is a park I put on the gallery awhile back.  I’ve added a ladder to the treehouse since the Eco Lifestyle patch...  So when you download it from the gallery, it will have stairs instead of a ladder but it was a really easy fix.

Sweet Magnolia Play Park

Lot Description:

Sweet Magnolia Play Park is the perfect place for a relaxing family outing. With an array of activities for all ages, all of your sims' needs will be met. Even your toddler sims weren't ignored when creating this park. Imagine that! There is also a little treehouse for "rent" if your child sims need a clubhouse for their girl power club. It wouldn't take much to renovate it into a more neutral space if that is what you need.

Lot Type: Park

Getting back into gameplay for storytellers

I see a lot of other players turned storytellers say that they wish they could get back into the game and actually enjoy playing like they used to (before discovering the sometimes complicated world of simblr, lol) so here are some of the things that I find helped me enjoy playing again.

  1. Create a sim: not a character who’s life you have planned all the way out to gen 3 and can’t wait to pose and post but a sim who literally will pee themselves if you don’t tell them to go to the bathroom. I find that if I start seeing my sim as more than a sim and more like a character, it becomes difficult to play them and see them doing the silly things sims were meant to do.
  2. Use less CC: If you usually use a ton of CC to clutter every single aspect of your sims house, don’t. I find that trying to make everything picture perfect turns me off from playing and instead send me right back down the road of storytelling so I keep things much simpler. Once you start playing, you probably won’t be spending a ton of time admiring their living spaces anyway.
  3. Use less mods: Okay, so, I love mods but I also know that there are so many things I’ve never done in the game. Having too many nonessential mods is distracting and prevents me from actually trying new things in the game. Right now, for my gameplay save, I only have MCCC, WW and other mods that fix issues that I find annoying. Try taking your mods out and playing a bit then put back the ones you feel like you can’t live without.
  4. Change your style: Remember what I said in #1 about sims being sims? If you usually make your sims more realistic for story purposes, try making them more cartoony for gameplay. I LOVE alpha clothes/furniture for storytelling purposes but it throws me off for gameplay. So I stick to maxis match clothing and more colorful decor styles to fit with the maxis aesthetic. I feel like @anotherplumbob does an amazing job with this and is definitely an inspiration. Even the reshade I use for gameplay is much brighter!
  5. Don’t build your sims house: I’m a builder at heart, okay? But it can be super time consuming trying to build the perfect house for your sim. Sometimes, by the time I’m done, I don’t even want to play anymore. Instead, try downloading one, or using one of Maxis’ ugly houses  and make minimal changes and updates as your sim makes progress in life. Gives you something to work towards and its nice to look back to see how far you’ve come.
  6. Don’t build up all the worlds: If you’re one of those players who usually rebuilds every world before you play, don’t. Instead, add new lots as you need them. 9 times out of 10 you won’t end up using half the lots you place anyway, especially once your sim’s life gets busy. If the thought of this kills you, try downloading a save that as everything you need already there like the ones by @jenba.
  7. Don’t makeover nonessential sims: Instead of making over every single sim in the beginning, try making over sims as they come into your sim’s life. Make them earn that makeover. If they become friends with your sim, they get a makeover. Become your sim’s boo? They get a makeover. Randomly walks by and kicks over your sim’s trashcan? They might just get deleted, but definitely no makeover.
  8. Let the sims create a story for you. Try letting their whims and aspirations dictate their lives and just follow along. Try using the randomize feature to select traits and aspirations when sims are aging up. Try randomly selecting careers and see what happens. Try answering the door when random sims show up and see what happens. Basically hop on the random things that happen in game to see what happens cause for me, not knowing what’s going to happen is the best part of playing.
  9. Keep your gameplay separate from simblr: I know it’s like second nature to post everything that happens in your game (which is perfectly fine if that truly makes you happy), but maybe try keeping a save just for you. One where you can let loose and enjoy yourself without having to worry about getting the perfect picture of your sim gardening or jogging or whatever. Just play and have fun.

Anyway, I hope somebody out there finds this helpful.

These are some good tips! I get so distracted trying to make the perfect world for my sims that I forget to just relax and play the game.

Brindleton Forever

Lot Description:

My current sim family needed a home they could grow old in so I built this for them in Brindleton Bay.  It has two bedrooms and an office but the office could easily be a decent sized third bedroom.  My sims are both writers so that's why an office was important. There is a laundry room in the basement. There are plenty of skill building items for your sims.

Orchid A Go Go Reno

Lot Description:

Orchid A Go Go is under new management and has been renovated to draw a more trendy crowd. This lounge includes a movie theater, live music, bar, and even an exclusive VIP lounge where your important sims can have a poker night without the paparazzi ruining their night out. If your sims are feeling especially photogenic they can have a friend snap a photo with the camera set up on the second floor. There is also a break area in the back for employees.

Lot Type: Lounge

Brindleton Starter

Lot Description:

This starter in Brindleton Bay has two bedrooms but only one is furnished. It has everything you need for your sim to live. I used most of the budget in the kitchen because I love parenthood counters and can't bring myself to use the cheapest ones with ugly swatches. This home also has laundry, which could be replaced with something more practical if you'd like. I'm just not very good at starter homes. I think this one is pretty cute though.

Maritime Cafe

Lot Description:

Maritime Cafe is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy a cup of coffee or two while studying for an exam or working on a term paper. The second floor has ping pong tables, a busking station and a microphone so your sims can enjoy some live entertainment or be the entertainment themselves. I added picnic tables and a grill outside because my sims always seem to need something a little more filling than the food they get in a cafe. Renovated and repurposed the Maritime Manor by EA.

This is the first release of my save file! I will have more updates to come when I complete more of the lots!

How to Download and place in your game:                                                            1. Follow the link to the drop box download and download the save onto your computer.                                                                                                              2. Make sure your existing saves are backed up and safe.                                  3. Take my save file and place it into your saves folder.                                        4. Open game to see the save called SimLicy Save Original. Open that game and save as with your new game title.                                                                    5. Now you can play! Enjoy!
