Glowing eyes sharpened as Karina glared at where Luna last stood. Her gaze unfixed and wild. Fangs showing in a threatening snarl. "I didn't raise you to be a fucking coward!"
"Coward?" Luna scoffed. Taking advantage of the small break and large echo to hide. Just long enough to bandage herself a bit. Focusing on the larger wonder on her side. It was obvious that her old friend had no intentions of killing her, but Luna was starting to realize that her wild nature was taking over more and more of her reasoning. "I'm not afraid of you! I know you still care!"
The dark laugh that followed caught Luna by surprise. "I wasn't talking about me, kid." Karina's voice was somewhat back to normal. Her eyes lost some of their glow, but that primal instinct was still there, underneath the surface.
The echo was annoying. Karina glanced around, but Luna was hard to track down. A small part of Karina was proud that the kid was using what she taught her. Another, much larger part was pissed the brat was using her own strategy against her. "We both know I can't hurt you. Even if I wanted to, and I really, really do." She stepped closer. Senses on high alert for the smallest sign. "No, you're not scared of what I'll do, but if what you will. You're scared you'll turn out just like me."
Luna felt her chest tighten. Making her already exhausted lungs work hard to try and oxygenate her body. That had been Karina's fear back when they were both inside the facility. Karina had seen her mentor lose her mind. Twisted and corrupted, until all that was left was a psychopath hell bent on murder. Now, it was Luna who was watching her mentor's sanity decay.
"You're wrong." Luna sighed and looked up. Resting her head on the wall supporting her. "I've always looked up to you. I wanted to be just like you since the day we met. It's you, isn't it?"
The last sentence ended with Karina right before her. A myriad of emotions struggling to take dominance in her. Like a frightened animal begging for help. Luna could only smile as she let her body fall to the ground. "You're scared I'll be just like you, and that all this means that you were wrong." When Karina's body relaxed, Luna gave a weak chuckle. "You're so silly, Kari. Look at me. I'm safe. I'm fine."
Glowing eyes crystalized veggies returning to their mute brown as Karina slumped forward. Falling over Luna as she pulled her in. Sobbing into her shoulder and tightening her grip. "Damn it, kid. You were supposed to stay away from me."
Luna laughed this time. Unable to react in any other way. "Then who would've broken through to you? Jimena?"
Karina laughed with her at that. "I probably would've sent her to the morgue."
