Mail order t-shirts for Dazed & Confused by Barbara Kruger and Paul Smith.
As Dazed & Confused magazine was beginning to gain popularity in the music, fashion, and art scenes in the mid 90’s, they began making t-shirts for their readers to order. For these early shirts, Dazed enlisted conceptual artist Barbara Kruger and fashion designer Paul Smith to create graphics for the shirts. Kruger was first interviewed in Dazed for issue 07 in 1994 while Smith was the guest editor of issue Issue 16 in 1995. Kruger had 6 different designs which included her iconic “Love For Sale” and “I Shop Therefore I Am” taglines. Paul Smith did one graphic which was printed on a Paul Smith blank. Other graphics included were blank tees that read “Dazed”, “&”, or “Confused”.
