I don’t intend to return to this blog, but I wanted to do a quick update from the mun to all my old friends here.

I’m moving out of my emotionally abusive family home this summer and moving in with my girlfriend, so we’ll no longer be long-distance.  I’m planning to apply for work with the post office up there, though of course I’ll… take whatever work I can get…  The plan is to eventually move up to New York together.

I do still roleplay!  Dragon Age (I have more characters now!), Marvel, DC, and more.  If you’re interested in roleplaying with me again, please feel free to add me on Discord.

So I’m sure my remaining followers have noticed my lack of activity on here.  I still want to roleplay, but I just can’t manage all the trouble of keeping up with a blog.  If you wish to roleplay with me still, please feel free to add me on d*scord.

First Meetings

Amazingly, Lerith continued to chat with Moira and Nelras, switching from signing for Moira to translate to journal writing when his Qunari friend had to work. They spoke of dragons and Skyhold, with the various people the Inquisitor called friends. The mute are more tarts fresh from the fires as he listened to other stories.
Things were going well until more people started to mill in to start on the dinner meals. Lerith’s ears dipped and he gathered his belongings. The other chefs bowed and greeted Nelras with his title, ignoring the mute who was trying to make himself smaller. Should he leave? But if he left did he have to wait for Nelras?
He decided to at least let Nelras know he didn’t want to stay anymore. [I go,] his hands motioned before pointing to the door they came through earlier.

Nelras found himself enthralled in this conversation with Lerith and Moira.  He had already grown fond of the baker, but now this new elf caught his attention as well.  His inability to speak held him back very little, and fun was had regardless.

The dinner crowd began to file in, and Nelras awkwardly greeted each cook who bowed and greeted him as Inquisitor.  Creators, he couldn’t wait to be through with that title.  He had told them all already that such formalities were unnecessary, but it never seemed to stick, except with Moira.

He too was turning to make his escape when Lerith caught his eye and gestured that he was leaving.  Moira was occupied with her work, but the signs needed little translation.  He followed the mute elf out and down the steps.

“I enjoyed our conversation today.  Should you require anything, feel free to send word to me and I will see to it.  I should like to speak to you again soon, if we both have time.”  He gave a sweeping bow, more mockery of the treatment he had received in the kitchen than anything, and grinned.  “Until next time, Lerith.”

And then, regretfully, it was time to work on some letters and reports he’d been putting off.  Nelras set off for his quarters, already wishing to be doing literally anything else.

A Rude Interruption

Zevran listens as the Inquisitor talks of home with a slight smirk on his face. He smiles more now that he’s away from most of the Crows. Smiles genuinely more often as well.
“Well it could be worse. You could be out in the wilderness fighting a blight. A wet dog with bad gas your only tent mate. But then again, better you than me.” He taps at the anchor, then leans back and wraps himself. “What a peaceful life that would be. Baskets and carving. Watching over the clan’s young while the others hunt. I tried running away from the Crows as a boy to join the Dalish in Antiva. My Mother was Dalish! Suffice to say the ideal didn’t live up to the reality…and when i got home. WHOO. Worst spanking of my life. “

Nelras worked a bit more on the halla carving.  Small, precise strokes as he worked on the block that would become delicately twining antlers.  He could still picture the halla that traveled with his clan around the marsh, still see the garlands of flowers he and his cousins would weave through their antlers during times of celebration.  A familiar ache settled into his chest.  He missed home.  He missed his family.

Zevran’s words helped keep him from getting too lost in his own head, thankfully.  “That does sound awful.  The Blight is not an enemy I would like to take on.  Giants and dragons I can handle.  I will even take some maddened magister abomination over the Blight,” he decided aloud.

The knowledge that Zevran’s mother was Dalish came as a bit of a start.  “Do you know what clan your mother was from?  I know little of the clans up that way, but perhaps I have heard of them.”  He chuckled slightly, imagining Zevran as a child trying to run away to join a Dalish clan.  “Yes, we are generally wary of runaway children, if only because it is said we steal children from their homes.”

A Holiday Tradition

The story about the dragon had been absolutely amazing, and Lerith had tried to commit every detail to memory. An actual dragon! Nelras had fought one! After that day, the mute had gone to the library to try and find various books on the beasts to find out more. Of course they were few and far between, since no one really wanted to approach the massive beasts, let alone figure out their usual behaviors.
More scribbles. ‘I would not mind trying to be friends first and then see if something happens. I suppose whenever you want to learn my language, you could send for me? I spend time at the stables or in my room studying herbs and such,’ and trying to get better at his fire magic. ‘Especially if it meant I get to hear more about DRAGONS!’ His face absolutely lit up at the idea of hearing about the beasts more from an elf that had beaten one!

Nelras had heard of dragons spread across Thedas, and Bull reacted to the information by nearly begging to go fight another.  As Inquisitor, there were far more pressing matters.  As himself, Nelras wanted to do it just to have a nice gift made for Lerith.  A knife made from a fang or a piece of bone, maybe?  Or something crafted from the scales?  He didn’t have a concrete idea yet, just the notion of a gift.  Lerith had been so excited just from the story, and he could only imagine how excited he’d be to have part of an actual dragon for his own.

He read the scrawled noted and nodded.  “Yes, that sound good.  I will send for you when I have time for a lesson or another tale about a fight.  We’ll be going to the Emerald Graves soon, and I have heard there are giants lurking there.  I believe that will make for an interesting tale, if we come across one.”

Gonna put my rp blogs on indefinite semi-hiatus.  I’ll write what I can, but I can’t promise any real level of speed or skill at this point.  I’m sorry.

I have so many replies to do, but I’m beginning to feel as if I’ve lost all inspiration and muse.  I’ve left some partners waiting for over a month for replies, and I feel terrible about it.  I may need to drop more threads again, which I really don’t want to do.  I just don’t know what to do, because I love all of my partners and all of my current threads.

Theon’s eyes trained in on the other’s scar, taking it in fully for the first time. It looked like it still hurt, and Theon could easily imagine the searing sort of pain that went along with a scar like that.
                   “I… thank you.”
His voice was softer now even than before, and his eyes returned back to the clear water that surrounded the pair.
“Water always makes me feel… better,                   somehow. Cleansed.”
His father’s seat had been by the sea, ruling over fishermen and sailors. Perhaps that was why he liked the water so much. The fact that he’d been forbidden from bathing while serving as a slave may have had something to do with it as well. It helped to remind him that he wasn’t that slave, that creature… not anymore.
He frowned.
“… but then I step out and catch a glimpse                  of myself, and I feel dirty and broken all                  over again.”

Nelras held still, allowing Theon to look at the branching scar for as long as he wished.  It did hurt still from time to time, but more of an ache throughout his entire arm, the muscles protesting years after the fact.  Sometimes he could ignore it and keep working on whatever he was doing at the moment it hit.  Other times, he dropped everything and could only sit or lay down with his teeth grit in pain until it passed.  The worst side-effects were the headaches and the trouble with his memory.  How could he be an effective leader if he sometimes forgot important information in the middle of meetings?

Returning his focus to the present, Nelras gave Theon a soft smile.  “There is no need for thanks.  I am only trying to be a good friend.”  And that’s what he hoped Theon might come to consider him.  Nelras may not know what Theon had faced in his past, but the scars and hesitant demeanor were enough sign that the man could probably use a steadfast friend.

“I was raised around water.  I feel the same.  There is something calming about it. ”  He began to wash himself as he spoke, using a plain Fereldan soap rather than the fine Orlesian kind that kept finding its way to his quarters.  The Orlesian stuff smelled far too strong.

He didn’t know what to say in response to Theon’s last sentence.  Dark brows furrowed, and he fought the urge to reach out and put a hand on the man’s shoulder, only because he remembered humans were less accustomed to casual nudity and the action might be uncomfortable as a result.

“Whatever has made you feel that way... I am sorry.  I hope that you will be able to heal and to feel whole once more.”
