Byulyi grew up tough and rugged, but that was just how the folks were in her rural, desert town. Growing up on a ranch, she deviated from the cowgirl life to learn another skill: carpentry. She’d toil all day in the blistering sun in faded denim, sweat-stained tank tops, and a hardhat. She built houses from the ground up with a hard working crew, and she took a lot of pride in her work.
But times were tough. A rocky economy made Byulyi’s line of work unpredictable at best, so she sought opportunities where they came aplenty, the city. Construction business ran a lot differently in the city than in the country since folks had a preference for building upward rather than outward. But she was good with her hands, precise, patient, and a quick learner, too. Luckily, she had a good gang of new guys to teach her the city ways.
One night after a hard day’s work when the project finally came to an end, the crew decided to celebrate the completion of a months-long build. Byulyi hadn’t had much time to explore the nightlife after her move, but given her cowgirl image and reputation, the boys knew just the place to make her feel at home.
