Hello friends, followers and stumbling-bys.

What better time than New Year’s Eve for announcing a change. This has been a long time coming, but now I’m making it official:

I’m moving blogs. My new URL will be lacrimulafalsa.tumblr.com. Same old, but no dash in the middle any more.

Apart from that, very little will change both content-wise and in regards to how I run my blog. However, I will be tagging more minimally on the new blog. I will still do my best to tag warnings, but please be aware of this if you’re somebody who wants very thorough or detailed tagging. If you want more detailed tags for my fanworks, I encourage you to read/view them on Ao3.

As for this blog, I haven’t made an ultimate decision so far, but it will remain “up” for a while yet. Knowing myself, it will probably be another six months until I do anything with it. That said, if you do absolutely need a post from here forever, please reblog it soon-ish.

That’s the TL;DR. If you want to know more, read on.

The motives behind the move are simple: Tumblr keeps being a §$(/%&§$ about my two word username and my plans to revamp this blog never went anywhere. It has become an annoyance. And my personal fandom blog should be fun. So I’m starting fresh. I hope some of you will follow me, but if you don’t, I won’t be offended or surprised. Nobody likes change. … Well maybe after 2020 we do. Ahem. To make it short: I’d be happy to see some familiar usernames interact with my content, but no hard feelings if that completely doesn’t happen.

Now let me take a moment to thank all fifty-one (!) of my followers. Thank you for liking my messy personal thing enough to want it on your dash. <3 It’s been grand. I am honestly astounded to have amassed such a number of followers. Wow. Thank you.

And last but not least, I am starting fresh with who I follow too, so if we were mutuals before: It’s not you, it’s me. I smiled a lot seeing all the mutual icons when I cleaned out my following page. I hope you’re all well in the new year. Second Annual Dum-E Appreciation Hebdomad

IT’S HERE, IT’S HERE!

Okay, for some of us it’s still hours away, BUT for some of you, Monday has arrived!  And brought with it the beginning of our Second Annual Dum-E Appreciation Hebdomad!

A reminder for what we’ll be doing:

Looking for some clarification?  For instance, what’s a Hebdomad?  That’s what the Dum-E bot in our server calls a week.  We took it and ran with it!

Do you have to do all the prompts?  No!  Do whatever you want!

Lock Down Fest (20-30 March)

Lock Down Fest is a non-anon, self-posting, multi-ship and multi-fandom mini fest that is designed to bring comfort to everyone staying indoors under quarantine restrictions at the moment and to all of us experiencing fear because of the pandemic. Anxiety levels are high and the news is distressing, so we want to invite everyone to use this time to be creative and spread joy. LDF will run from 20-30 March; announcements will be made here.

We want everyone to be encouraged to participate and to follow the fest, but we also appreciate that reading about the virus can be upsetting for many people. For that reason, we’ve decided on a twofold theme:

a. Getting Stuck In/Isolated Together (which doesn’t need to involve the virus in any way whatsoever)

b. Quarantine-inspired, if it occurs during the current pandemic. Works MUST be tagged with the tag: “Covid-19 Related” on AO3.

All kinds of fanworks are welcome with no minimum or maximum wordcount for fics. There is no claiming time nor the need to sign up. Simply, 1. visit the collection on AO3 and post your work when it opens, then 2. email: quarantinefest [at] gmail [.] com with a link to your fanwork.

If you don’t wish to write or draw, you can always contribute by offering beta services. Feel free to DM one of the mods and we’ll post a list with those volunteering to beta in the next couple of days. We’d appreciate it if all fics are beta-read.

Most importantly, please ensure you tag your work as “Covid-19 related” on AO3 if it takes place during the current pandemic, so as to give the chance for readers to exclude the tag, if they wish. Be mindful of your tags: if they deal with a pandemic anyway (historical or fictional), do tag and warn accordingly. If your work doesn’t comply with this requirement and we can’t get hold of you via the email provided, your work might be removed from the collection.

Lock Down Fest is open to everyone over 18 years old.

Second Annual Dum-E Appreciation Hebdomad

The world is a scary place right now, and there are So Many Stressful Things all around us.  Many in our fandom are practicing careful social distancing and right now finding community online and happiness anywhere is a blessing.

Welcome to the second annual Dum-E Appreciation Hebdomad.  

(What’s a Hebdomad?  That’s what the Dum-E bot in our server calls a week.)

Here is the low-pressure, low-expectation, low-stress calendar of events:

Monday, March 16 - Rec Day (Rec something Dum-E related)

Tuesday, March 17 - Comment on an artwork or fic related to Dum-E Day (We’ll be reblogging multiple from the WinterIron Discord Tumblr so hopefully they are easy to find)

Wednesday, March 18 - Poetry Day (Dum-E particularly likes acrostics and haikus)

Thursday, March 19 - Word Day (Ficlets, Drabbles, Headcanons, are fine)

Friday, March 20 - Creation Day (Make something! MSPaint? Awesome! Cross stitch? Sew yes! Mashed Potato sculpture? Nailed it.)

Saturday, March 21 - Art Day (Similar to creation day. You do you.)

Sunday, March 23 - Rec and Reblog Day for any of your favorites from the week Do one or do them all.  If you’re like us, you’ve got some extended time at home ahead of you.  And best of all, win a prize!  Last year we sent out 50 prize envelopes through the mail.  This year because of Covid-19 health concerns you’ll get a digital packet emailed to you instead.  Everyone who participates in 3 or more activities will get one.  It will contain:

I am leaving tumblr (and maybe Ao3)

Sorry for that dramatic title, but I didn’t want anyone who has me on post notifications to see I posted and to think that it’s a fic and then be disappointed. Unfortunately, I will be leaving tumblr. I wish I could provide a clear and easy excuse for it - if there were trolls bothering me, for example, or I stopped liking fic - but it’s more complex than that. Honestly, lately I’ve been feeling pretty burnt out creatively. The more I look at the stuff I’m writing, the more I realize it’s not the stuff I want to be doing. It feels like filler, like something I have to do because otherwise I’ll lose followers and that for some reason seems to matter to me.

So I’m going to take a step back and try to focus on doing more of the things I want to do. I’m not going to disappear entirely - at the very least, I expect I’ll remain on Ao3 - but I’d suggest if there are creations of mine you’d like to have indefinite access to, you save or download them now. Particularly, if you’re fond of my superhusbands edits, I’d suggest finding a way to save them (though please, just because I’m gone, do not repost them; as I understand it, if you reblog the post before I delete, you’ll have access to the post through your own blog). As of now, I am going to keep my Ao3 up and open, but as I (hopefully) continue writing and working on different types of projects in the coming months, I may choose to delete or orphan older fics of mine that I no longer want connected to mine. As such, I would suggest you either bookmark or download anything you may want to re-read - particularly, I suspect that ‘grab bag fics’ may be coming down. (As with above, though, please do not repost these fics - sharing them with other interested parties is fine, but I’d rather not see them copy-pasted to anyone’s tumblr).

I’ve been stepping back a bit from tumblr recently, as some people might have noticed, so I hope this doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to anyone. To those of you who have taken the time to drop into my messages, my askbox, tags or comments and share that you like my work: thank you. It always means a lot, but especially at the beginning, you guys brought me a lot of happiness at a time I really needed it. I will always be grateful for that, even as I move away from this blog.

I’m going to delete this tumblr in 48 hours, on January 22nd. You have until then to download anything you want to save. As a reminder, my superhusbands au can be found here, all my edits can be found here, and my Ao3 can be found here. Feel free to drop me an ask if you have any questions/need help finding something in the next few days.

The easiest way to save all my drabbles, if that’s your goal, is to download that whole story/document. Of course, if you just want to save a few, feel free to go the reblogging route, I really don’t mind, but I wanted to be clear on that before anyone goes to any unnecessary trouble.

If you want to keep nasa’s fics, download them via Ao3 as readmores on their fic posts will cease to function once they take down their blog. A big thank you to @nasafic for giving us advance warning on this. I wish you all the best and hope the decision to leave, while sad for us, makes you happier and turns out to have been a good one. Live long and prosper.
