HELP ME MOVE OUT OF MY ABUSIVE SITUATION (AFTER ENHANCED QUARANTINE)

Hello, Tumblr. No idea if anyone here still remembers me. The city I live in is under quarantine given Covid-19; the Philippines in general is struggling with how the virus has affected the economy and livelihoods of many. 

I’ve been trying to move out of my abusive home. I have no personal space (I literally sleep on a very damaged wooden bed that’s right in front of the main door) and my food intake is monitored/controlled because, according to my father, I’m “too fat” and “like a whale”. 

Since the lockdown began in March, I’ve been unable to replenish my prescribed medications for my anxiety and bipolar disorder because they’re expensive, up to $70 for a month’s supply. I’ve attempted suicide twice since March. I’m not sure I’ll be alive past quarantine. 

Since I’m stuck in this controlling environment and all my sources of income are ‘non-essential’, no work = no pay. 

There’s an apartment available for long-term as soon as the lockdown lifts, but they need a deposit and advance that comes to $900. The place is far and safe enough that my family won’t find me for quite some time. My gadgets that I can sell have already been in the pawnshop for months…the due on my MacBook is coming to $400 and I need it back so I can work. 

Right now, all I can offer in return is to write fics or papers or poems when I’m in a safe space. Please help me buy medicine, retrieve my laptop so I can work, and secure a safe shelter. Please.

All I have is PayPal. There’s no Venmo or CashApp in my country.

I’m desperate. Please.

George Floyd was killed by an officer while being handcuffed. He was PLEADING for breath.

A black man asked a woman to put her dog on a leash. The woman then threatened to call the cops on HIM and accuse him of threatening her.

A white pastor claimed two black men kidnapped him to cover up the fact that he was in the hotel room because he was cheating on his wife.

A white woman drowned her nine-year-old son with autism, and said a black man had done it.

Regis Korchinski Paquet was shoved off the balcony by an officer. She died.

Tony McDade, a transgender man, was shot and killed by an officer.

These are all under 72 hours. 3 days. Now, realize what happens in a month.

It’s wild for me cause my tinnitus sometimes sounds like sirens, so I keep thinking it’s my hearing wigging out but nope, shit is literally on fire yo.

I’m a half hour away from the twin cities and I’ve been watching Unicorn Riot covering everything, while keeping a police scanner on in the background.

It’s constant noise on said scanner right now.

They’re focusing their main efforts on trying to contain the shenanigans on University Ave.

There was a group of white, ARMED WITH AR-15’s that had just left Motel 6 in Roseville and are heading to one of the Precint fires.™️

Speaking of which, there’s an unconfirmed rumor that a gas line to the 3rd precint has been cut, and could explode at any time.

I just saw that about the gas line. I’m really hoping what I am hearing in the distance is fireworks right now.

What I learned from protesting in Ferguson

1. Don't post pics of fellow protestors. Wear face masks, helmet, googles

2. Turn off your location on your phone. Leave it even. It will be an alibi for you

3. Carry milk with you. Someone in the group should have a leaf blower to blow back gas

4. Travel in groups. Never alone. Move swiftly.

5. Don't go to a protest without knowing about a local bail relief fund. Write the number on your arm.

6. Remember this has happened before and it will happen again unless we have courage.

think it is a good time to bring up the fact that the police in the united states of america are not legally required to protect people. that is straight up not part of their job.

furthermore, the united states police system was created largely out of runaway slave roundup patrols, they never existed to protect people, they were created to protect “property rights.”

They do not and have not ever existed to help keep folks safe. That is quite literally not even in their constitutional job description.

these people care about property, these systems care about property. it was never about protecting life.

Capitalized “thugs” is a huge signal to his racist buddies too. That cannot be accidental. 

A lot of people in the replies to this seemingly have no idea what “class” is.

It’s not a set of values or something you automatically earn after college or like some mysterious inherent quality your parents pass down to you. 

(Like, maybe your parents have enough money/assets where they can sustain you through economic insecurity, but let’s be honest…that’s not most people’s situation.)

If you are struggling with bills, if you don’t have savings, if you constantly question even small purchases, if spending a few thousand dollars on a vacation seems like a distant dream…you are not middle class.

And most importantly, saying you are not middle class is not an attack on your character. 

Instead it’s a reminder to fight for your own economic interests, and not to let companies, your boss, or politicians trick you into working against yourself by believing you’re part of the “mythical middle.”

What’s more, if your first response to “you’re not middle class!” is to treat it like an attack on your character? Then you really need to stop and examine what you think about lower-class people.

Americans like to quote Kurt Vonnegut, that ‘socialism never took root in America because Americans see themselves as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.’

What that politely obscures is why Americans see themselves as future rich people: they despise the poor, even if they themselves are poor, and so would rather see themselves as “middle class” rather than ever see themselves as “poor.”

I would also like to add on this that if you are paying a mortgage on a home, but it’s a 30 year mortgage…you’re NOT middle class. Sorry!

Pigs are framing arson on protestors demanding justice for the murder of an innocent Black man by killer cops.
