i feel like the boeing whistleblower case should radicalize more people. a major airline company is producing planes with less and less regard for safety and it's starting to get noticeable. man takes them to court, which would reduce profit at the cost of public safety. he fucking dies the night that boeings legal team asks him to stay an extra day. if nothing happens about this, i hope it gets through to people that america would literally kill you for a few extra cents
We're talking about personal morals here, not legality.

I hit “it’s always okay” because the exceptions on this poll are related to how you pirate things, rather than what you’re pirating, but I’ve said before and I’ll say again—do not pirate books
You can get books for free very easily through libraries. If you don’t have a physical library building nearby or can’t get out of the house, they have tons of online resources like Overdrive, Hoopla, and Libby, that let you borrow digital copies of books—including audiobooks.
The way money flows from books sales is VERY different from the way it flows for movies, TV, and music, and unlike with those industries, book piracy can be the difference between whether the author can afford rent or not. Book piracy can result in a series being dropped by a publisher before completion. And unlike the cast and crew of a film, who get paid no matter what, authors ONLY make money if the book makes money.
Actual faith vs performative religion.
To shave your beard is a huge sacrifice for a devout Sikh. It is a sacrifice for the greater good, that many people will scoff at without understanding the amount of love it took, to give up part of your faith to serve the greater purpose of that faith. Bless them all.
Los Angeles!!! Pay attention!!!🚨🚨🚨Do your research. VOTE TRUE BLUE. Remember Rick Caruso? We didn’t let him get away with it. Don’t let anybody else.
TikTok has absolutely rotted peoples mind. I’m sure you’ve seen this trend of mainly cis women posting what they look like without cosmetic work done in response to the rise of plastic surgery and facial filler becoming more of a norm. Everyone who has participated in this trend has gotten utterly ripped apart and bullied in the comments.
This was the top comment and like.. what are you talking about? Have we forgotten what real people look like?
This wasn’t even the worst comment
Promoting an untouched face??? You mean accepting yourself as you are?
IG is the same if not worse. I keep coming across these, it's always women my age (20 something/late 20s) with a comment section full of people telling them they look 40 at best or that they're aging like milk??? The last one I saw, OP was also 27 and she said she had never gotten work done, suffered acne for the majority of her teens, and had sensitive skin. I went into the comments and the top comment was a girl saying "I'm also 27 and I don't look like this. My 50 year old mom looks younger than you". When I replied, she called me a liar because I said that everyone ages differently and that was normal for a 27 year old???? She literally went into a full rant saying she couldn't stand people that were too sensitive and hated honesty??????? I logged off for good. People in TikTok and IG have absolutely lost their minds.
There was one I saw of a woman who just made a fun video where she said she was born in March 1989 (making her 33 at the time) and wanted to try the "teenage look" filter, and people were vicious, talking about how ancient she looked, people saying she was lying about her age, saying "I'm the same age as you, ain't no fucking way" or "I'm 15 years older than this woman and I dont look as old as her"
She went viral because of how many people were shitting on her looks. She's a homesteader in rural Canada, but the whole fucking internet had to come out and talk about how they look younger than her.
I promise you, the obsession with calling people old if they don't look like an Instagram model is only going to bite you in the ass when you hit 26 and don't look like a teenager anymore.
“its been a long week” me on a Tuesday
Surge pricing should be illegal

Don’t forget that the US civil rights bill only passed after six weeks of rioting that were the direct result of MLK’s murder. Peaceful protest paved the way, but violent protest got it over the finish line.
It’s understandable why the state would not want you know that, but that’s also why it’s imperative that you do.
king's family doesn't "believe" the FBI killed him, they know it for fact because the FBI admitted to it in a civil case brought against them in the early 90s. the court documents are a matter of public record. read them yourself. the king family won that suit against the united states fucking government for assassinating martin luther king jr
People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.
Addendum: This is also a really good reason to support trust-busting. A lot of this obnoxious behavior is only possible because corporations wield monopoly power.
another addendum: most modern (4K UHD) blurays use a form of online DRM that requires the player software to access a server to get title specific decryption keys. you don't really own a film on one of those disks any more than you do on streaming, the only way to truly preserve it is to rip off the disks or from streaming, not even the physical media you can "buy" can necessarily be preserved anymore.
PIRACY ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE MEDIA PRESERVATION
It's gonna be such a funny mess when Donald Trump dies of a stroke on April 1st, 2024.
- Naturally everybody will think it's fake because of the date only to lose their minds (both positively and negatively based on their opinion of trump) when realizing it's real
- There will be massive celebrations in the streets and on social media and lots of predictable "don't speak ill of the dead" discourse about those celebrations
- Weird evangelicals will pull some weird number trick talking about how Jesus was conceived on April 1st and that makes Trump a sort of messiah and people will make fun of that
- The Republicans (after they're done with the faux-sadness and faux-outrage) will stomp over each other to be his successor but none of them will succeed. They'll tear each other apart and have no single nominee for the November elections.
- There will be discourse about if Biden and the living former presidents should go to his funeral (they won't, he was a traitor insurrectionist)
- The Ukraine-Russia War immediately goes in favor of Ukraine as morale in the Kremlin is reduced. China similarly backs off from its threats on Taiwan.
- Ten thousand new memes are made, some sticking around for years to come.
- Not a month later a bunch of unofficial biographies of Trump hit the bookshelves, many with new details about just how awful he was.
