albedo x gn! reader. my shitty take on a swan lake! au (there are no swans). i was working on this as a wip but i don’t like the final product, but i thought i’d post it anyways so it doesn’t go to waste :)
“beloved,” a gloved hand drifts in front of yours, familiar and welcoming, a soft voice beckoning you near, “shall we dance?”
you laugh, “albedo, have you even wished my father a happy birthday?”
notorious, he was, for being single-minded. he finds one thing and forgets about everything else- whether his research, his painting, his sister… you.
“of course,” he quirked a slight smile, “how could i forget?”
“fine, i guess we can dance,” you say airily, mockingly as you almost grab his hand in yours, squeezing it as he leads you out further out into the ballroom.
the air is almost deathly silent except for the pull of strings and tinkling of the piano. it was like everyone had held their breath, watching the main attraction of the night. tonight was the celebration for the king, yes- but more importantly, the young couple that would lead their kingdom into a brighter future. the child of the king and a duke, everyone wanted a taste, a glimpse, of what they are.

morning light filters through the sheer curtains and you yawn. sleep calls for you and you roll over in bed in an attempt to take over your husband's side, who has almost certainly left for work by now. yet, instead of rolling onto soft blankets and pillows, you land on a very human-shaped mass. eyes fluttering open in confusion, you look up at your husband, who is also just stirring out of sleep due to the impact.
"sorry," you mumble drowsily.
scaramouche's arm snakes around your waist, pulling you even further on top of him. you look up at him, resisting the urge to bury your face in the fabric of his soft sleep shirt and fall asleep on top of him.
"something wrong, songbird?" he asks in the gentlest of morning voices reserved only for you.
you now feel even worse for waking scaramouche up, especially since he doesn't seem panicked at the fact that its mid-morning. with you in his arms, scara is completely and utterly relaxed, which means that this is one of his few days off. great. it's one of his few days off and you disturbed his sleep.
