Jonathan Reynoso (28) and Audrey Moran (26) went missing in California on May 10th, 2017. On that evening, Audrey left her sister’s home in Coachella Valley to pick up Jonathan in Brawley, a town located around 70 miles away. She told family members that she planned to pick Jonathan up in Brawley and then drive him to his home, located an hour and a half away, in Palm Desert. Later that evening, Audrey’s mother received a text message from Audrey’s phone that contained the above image. Interestingly enough, Audrey’s mother recognized the photo and said it was from a previous outing; it had been taken on an earlier date. This was the last time Audrey’s mother has heard from her. It was assumed that Audrey and Jonathan were together at this time, but that has never been confirmed. Around the same time, Jonathan sent a message to his friends in an Instagram group chat that said “I’m dying.” The following day, Audrey’s family grew concerned after being unable to get ahold of her and reported her missing.

Two days later, Audrey’s car was found pulled over to the side of interstate 10, west of Oak Valley Parkway in Beaumont. Her keys and purse were still in the car and the gas tank was almost full. There were no obvious signs of damage or a struggle. As previously mentioned, family and friends assumed that Audrey and Jonathan were together on the night of May 10th, however, authorities have actually not confirmed that Jonathan was last seen in Brawley. It is currently unclear who he was with in Brawley, or if he was even there at all. A pizza box found at Jonathan’s house in Palm Desert seems to indicate that he may have had it delivered around the time he was supposed to be out of town.

Investigators do not believe that Audrey and Jonathan are voluntarily missing. Their case is still being actively investigated. If you have any information, please contact investigators at (760) 393-3544. [x]

UPDATE (June 28th, 2020): Three men have been arrested in connection to the murders of Jonathan Reynoso and Audrey Moran. On Saturday, June 27th, the Riverside Central Homicide Unit arrested Abraham Fregoso (32), Manuel Rios (28) and Jesus Ruiz Jr. (41). All three were booked on murder charges. The arrests came after investigators reportedly “received information” that led to the three men being charged with murder. Investigators have stated that they are not revealing any further information at this time, but they are still encouraging any person with potential information on the case to come forward. Jonathan and Audrey still remain missing.

UPDATE (July 1st, 2020): Investigators believe that they have found the remains of Jonathan and Audrey. On June 30th, it was announced that remains were found in the Coachella Valley and DNA testing is currently underway.

The three suspects remain in jail was the charges are pending. All three have received separate charges. Manuel Rios is charged with two counts of murder with a special circumstance of killing a witness. Abraham Fregoso is charged with only one count of murder, but also with the special circumstance of killing a witness. Jesus Ruiz Jr. is being charged with two counts of being an accessory to murder after the fact. Motives for the killings have still not been released.

Having a Natural Selection or Wrath shirt is fine. If you like the “edgy” look that’s cool. You do you. Just don’t wear that fucking shit to the memorial where that was the last thing 13 people saw before they were brutally murdered. Its so fucking disrespectful. Like I have no words to explain how disrespectful that is. Just don’t do it. You’re not cool or edgy. You’re a fucking idiot.

Candice Parchment was only 15 years-old when she vanished from her family’s Forest Park, Georgia home on April 28th, 2010. According to her mother, Candice voluntarily left the home that evening. Once Candice’s mother reported her missing, she was classified as a runaway. Although Candice left the home on her own accord, her family and friends still worried about her–especially since Candice had gone through a traumatic experience in January 2010, two months before her disappearance. On an afternoon in early January, Candice called her mother and asked her to come pick her up at an abandoned house in Forest Park. Once Candice’s mother found her, Candice ran to the car and said that she had almost been raped by two older boys. Candice’s mother begged her daughter to reveal the identity of her attackers, but Candice refused.

When Candice went missing in late April 2010, it was initially unclear if the January 2010 assault and her disappearance were related. While Candice’s mother was inevitably concerned about the January incident, it appeared Candice had voluntarily left the home in April. Candice’s loved ones feared for her safety, but continued to hold out hope that she would return home alive. Unfortunately, in December 2010, the case took an unexpected turn when human remains were found underneath an old mattress in a wooded area near Candice’s home. Investigators immediately suspected the remains belonged to Candice, and those suspicions were confirmed just a day later. At that point, it was clear Candice had been murdered–she was reportedly stabbed and strangled to death. However, police did not have any identified suspects or persons of interest.

Candice’s case seemed to go cold in the months that followed. In October 2011, Candice’s mother eventually decided to move to a different home. While packing up some of Candice’s items, her mother stumbled upon a diary that Candice had been keeping in the months leading up to her disappearance. Inside the diary, Candice’s mother found the lead she had been praying for: the identities of the men who attacked Candice in January 2010.

“Once she was home, the first thing she did was call her friend, Rachel Scott, to make sure she was okay.
But Scott wasn’t home. She was the first one killed that day, shot multiple times as she was having lunch outside the school.
In the hagiography of Columbine, Scott’s story looms large, her journals and drawings forming the basis of several inspirational Christian books published by her parents. Basore knew her in a different context entirely, as a giggly, exuberant seventeen-year-old who made friends across Columbine’s elaborate social strata and did a pee-your-pants-funny skit involving various characters from Titanic. “I knew who she really was,” Basore says, “because she was my best friend.”
Scott and Basore knew many of the same people from working at Subway, dished about boys, went shopping together. Over spring break they’d gone on a road trip to Albuquerque in a purple Hyundai. They had talked about getting an apartment together after the semester ended, even though Scott was only a junior. None of that was going to happen now. Basore wouldn’t even get to groan again as Scott made her listen to Sarah McLachlan’s “In the Arms of an Angel” for the umpteenth time.” (Alisha Basore, 2019)

Crime News, April 11th, 2019: Christopher Lee Price (46) is scheduled to be executed by the state of Alabama tonight.

Christopher Price has been on Alabama’s death row since 1993, sentenced to die when he was just 21 years old. The crime for which Price was given the most extreme punishment possible was the murder of William Lynn (57) in Fayette County, Alabama. Bill Lynn was a pastor, and Chris Price stabbed him 38 times during a burglary. Price also repeatedly stabbed Lynn’s wife Bessie, who was able to survive.

Price committed these crimes in 1991; astonishingly at the young age 19. While awaiting tonight’s planned execution, Price is being housed inside Alabama’s Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore. He does have a legal appeal pending, but it is not a protest of innocence. Instead, he and his lawyers argue that Alabama’s intended lethal injection is unlawful due to its use of the drug Midazolam.

They also argue that Price should be allowed to be executed in the gas chamber, a method of execution which has been legal in Alabama since March last year (sought as an alternative to the increasingly successful appeals against the lethal injection protocol). However, the period during which Alabaman death row inmates were able to request they be executed with nitrogen gas instead of a lethal injection has long since elapsed; concluding in July, 2018.

Price’s appeals have already been denied by the Alabaman Supreme Court (who were actually responsible for setting Price’s execution date) and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, but they are still pending before the United States Supreme Court. Thus far in 2019, three death row inmates have been executed in the United States: two in Texas, and one in Alabama. As of writing this, Price’s execution is on track to take place in just under three hours.

Methods of Death & How They Feel

  1. Drowning: When victims eventually submerge, they hold their breath for as long as possible, typically 30 to 90 seconds. After that, they inhale some water, splutter, cough and inhale more. Survivors say there is a feeling of tearing and a burning sensation in the chest as water goes down into the airway. Then that sort of slips into a feeling of calmness and tranquility. That calmness represents the beginnings of the loss of consciousness from oxygen deprivation, which eventually results in the heart stopping and brain death.
  2. Heart Attack: The most common symptom is chest pain: a tightness, pressure or squeezing, often described as an “elephant on my chest”, which may be lasting or come and go. This is the heart muscle struggling and dying from oxygen deprivation. Pain can radiate to the jaw, throat, back, belly and arms. Other signs and symptoms include shortness of breath, nausea and cold sweats.
  3. Bleeding to Death:  Anyone losing 1.5 litres – either through an external wound or internal bleeding – feels weak, thirsty and anxious, and would be breathing fast. By 2 litres, people experience dizziness, confusion and then eventual unconsciousness.
  4. Fire: Burns inflict immediate and intense pain through stimulation of the pain nerves in the skin. To make matters worse, burns also trigger a rapid inflammatory response, which boosts sensitivity to pain in the injured tissues and surrounding areas. As burn intensities progress, some feeling is lost but not much. 3rd degree burns don’t hurt as much as 2nd degree burns.
  5. Decapitation: Very quick. Consciousness is said to continue for a few seconds after decapitation. It’s thought to be painless. But the separation of the spinal cord and brain may cause severe pain.
  6. Electrocution: Higher currents can produce nearly immediate unconsciousness. The electric chair was designed to produce instant loss of consciousness and painless death, but that’s debatable. It’s been proposed that prisoners could instead be dying from heating of the brain, or perhaps from suffocation due to paralysis of the breathing muscles instead of electrocution itself because the skulls of the wall are a thick and powerful insulator.
  7. Falling from a height: Another instantaneous death. Survivors of great falls often report the sensation of time slowing down. The natural reaction is to struggle to maintain a feet-first landing, resulting in fractures to the leg bones, lower spinal column and life-threatening broken pelvises. The impact traveling up through the body can also burst the aorta and heart chambers.
  8. Hanging: The rope puts pressure on the windpipe and the arteries to the brain. This can cause unconsciousness in 10 seconds, but it takes longer if the noose is incorrectly sited. Witnesses of public hangings often reported victims “dancing” in pain at the end of the rope, struggling violently as they asphyxiated.
  9. Lethal injection: . First comes the anaesthetic thiopental to speed away any feelings of pain, followed by a paralytic agent called pancuronium to stop breathing. Finally potassium chloride is injected, which stops the heart almost instantly. Eyewitnesses have reported inmates convulsing, heaving and attempting to sit up during the procedure, suggesting it’s not always completely effective.
  10. Vacuum (In Outer Space): When the external air pressure suddenly drops, the air in the lungs expands, tearing the fragile gas exchange tissues. This is especially damaging if the victim neglects to exhale prior to decompression or tries to hold their breath. Oxygen begins to escape from the blood and lungs. Human survivors from NASA often report an initial pain, like being hit in the chest, and may remember feeling air escape from their lungs and the inability to inhale. Time to the loss of consciousness was generally less than 15 seconds.

Tereina Caitlin Jones was 21 years-old when she vanished on September 8th, 2017. She was last seen after leaving a hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Tereina never returned home and was never seen or heard from again. It is unclear why Tereina was at the hospital that day, and unfortunately very few details are available about her disappearance. In fact, Tereina’s disappearance was barely reported about in the media. Her family members used social media to spread awareness about Tereina’s disappearance, but it never made news headlines.

In August 2018, remains were found in desert area near 11th Street and Alameda Road. It took months for the remains to be identified, but in April 2019 they were positively identified as that of Tereina Jones. Investigators have not released a cause of death at this time, but they do believe that foul play was involved.

The Phoenix Police Department is investigating Tereina’s death. If you have any information that could help the investigation, please contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-534-3053. (x)

16 year-old Mekayla Bali has been missing since April 12th, 2016. According to her mother, Paula Bali, that day began as any typical day would for Mekayla. The two chatted as they got ready for the day, before Mekayla’s maternal grandmother picked them up to drive Paula to work and Mekayla to school. Paula was dropped off first, and then Mekayla was dropped off at her high school in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada around 8:20am. When her grandmother went back to the school to pick her up that afternoon, Mekayla wasn’t waiting for her. Her grandmother then went inside to see if Mekayla was there, but teachers and peers said they had not seen her for most of the day. Her grandmother then drove to Paula’s office to let her know that Mekayla was missing from school. Paula checked to see if Mekayla had gone to her after school music lessons early, but she was not there, either. A few hours after that, Mekayla was reported missing to Yorkton authorities.

Mekayla’s family later learned that she walked off her school’s campus just 10 minutes after being dropped off that morning and was seen at several different locations in the hours that followed. Mekayla’s first known stop was a local pawn shop. However, Paula does not believe that Mekayla pawned anything; as nothing valuable was missing from their home. After leaving the pawn shop, surveillance footage captured Mekayla at a T.D. Bank, where she withdrew a small amount of money. Mekayla’s next known stop was at a nearby Tim Horton’s, where surveillance footage captured her entering the cafe around 9am and buying a coffee. Mekayla’s family and friends do not know why she went to any of those locations that morning. In an interview with Dateline, Paula told reporters, “this is absolutely unusual behavior for her. She wasn’t a class skipper. It seemed like she was waiting for someone.” Despite this,  surveillance footage revealed that Mekayla did not meet anyone at Tim Horton’s. She was captured looking around the parking lot before returning to school grounds.

Mekayla’s return to school was very brief. Sometime during the short period of time she was there, she sent a text message to two of her friends that said “I need help.” Just moments later, though, that message was followed by another one that said “Don’t worry, I figured it out.” Her friends shrugged it off and expected to catch up with Mekayla at lunch that afternoon, but surveillance footage revealed that Mekayla had left the school again before lunchtime. Mekayla then walked almost a mile to Trail Stop Restaurant, which was connected to a bus station. There were no cameras inside the restaurant or bus station, but witnesses state that Mekayla arrived at the restaurant around 12pm, ate lunch there, and then left around 1:45pm. She has never been seen or heard from again after that.

Police are actively investigating Mekayla’s case. No suspects have been publicly named, however police are hoping to identify a male person of interest. That man was seen at the Trail Stop Restaurant at the same time as Mekayla and has a large tattoo of a cross on his forearm. No additional details on this man’s identity have been revealed. If you have any information about this person’s identity or about Mekayla’s whereabouts, please contact the Royal Canadian Mounted Police tip line at (639) 625-4100.

16-year-old Josely Oliveira (pictured right) and her sister 15-year-old Juliana Vânia (pictured left) went to school on March 23, 2011, as usual. After class they would take the bus and met their father at the bus stop located on a dirty road near their house so they could walk home together in safety. However, that day around 6:40pm when he went there to pick up his daughters, they were not there.

The family and police officers began searching for the two girls around the small town Cunha where they lived in the state of São Paulo. Josely and Juliana had a good relationship with their parents and apparently had no reasons to become runaways, what made the investigators think they were in front of a kidnapping case. After an extensive investigation, Josely and Juliana were found dead at a wooded area approximately 8km away from their house. 27-year-old Ananias dos Santos, their neighbour, became the main suspect. Ananias was one of the most wanted fugitives from the state of São Paulo, once he had been incarcerated for robbery, gang formation, illegal possession of weapons and never returned prison after easter furlough. He was having an unrequited love for Juliana and, according to him, the sisters used to make fun of him calling him “bumpkin” and “smelly”.

In the evening of March 23, the girls got off the bus at the same local as usual and were approached by Ananias, who forced them to walk with him to the wooded area where they would be killed with a 22. long rifle. When the girls got tired and complained about their heavy backpacks, Ananias ordered them to throw the backpacks away; during the investigation, one of the backpacks was found. Although he confessed acting alone, the authorities suspected he had at least one accomplice. 50-year-old Maria José Silva, Ananias’ girlfriend, became suspect of being an accessory to crime. She was jealous of Juliana Vânia, for whom her boyfriend was in love, and spoke to him by phone at least three times in the night the girls were murdered.

Ananias dos Santos was arrested on April 11 while he was sleeping in the house where he lived with his parents, after he ran away to the state of Rio de Janeiro but returned to Cunha. At his trial in 2014, he was sentenced to 42 years imprisonment; 21 years for each death. Maria José Silva was indicted for the crime but did not go on trial.
