I sat in the taxi fidgeting the fabric of my gown, thinking I would rather be at home in my flannel pajamas instead of going to one of Tony’s many parties. It had been my first time going to one, and my nerves were on end. I would much rather be relaxing at home, than getting drunk with a bunch of strangers I did not know.
Although, I would come to know some of them within the next couple weeks. Fury had practically forced me into becoming an Avenger, using things against me that I thought no one would ever know, that being that I was not human. I had worked for King Odin at one point, but before that being close friends with Thor as we both grew up, learning skills together before we would take our parents’ place.
I had been trying to stay away from SHIELD, keeping me and my powers a secret from the world. That was until I slipped, my anger had bested me, and my wings had come out for a fraction of a second. I had hoped no one had noticed, but somehow they had seen, assuming it was just from their many surveillance cameras around the city.
I had finally stopped in front of the large Stark Tower, already seeing one of the top floors filled with people. The valet had opened my door, helping me out of my car before the taxi had driven off. The clear glass doors were opened for me as I walked up to the building. A large man stood in front of the elevator holding a clipboard, “Name?” I smiled, clutching my small handbag “(y/n).” He let out a small huff, flipping through the list of names. “Go on up”, he pressed the button of the elevator, another man waiting inside to escort people up to where the party was.
The elevator had soon come to a stop, signaling we had arrived at the party. My dark red heels clicked against the floor as I made my way into the large room full of people. One of the waiters had taken my coat, the color matching my heels. My wings spread out behind me, the blackness of them matching perfectly with the black dress I was wearing. If I were to be working with the Avengers, the whole world would know about me sooner or later. And what better way for people to find out, than at one of Tony’s parties.
A few heads turned to stare at me, but I ignored them as I quickly made my way to the bar. I was suddenly stopped by Tony standing in front of me, a drink in one hand. “(y/n)!” He sounded enthusiastic as he had a smile on his face “so glad you could make it.” I smiled, nodding my head, “I’m glad to be here.” He nodded, taking a sip of his drink, “The rest of the Avengers are around here, so you’ll meet them. If not, we all get together after the party.”
I nodded my head once more, “That sounds great.” It would be easier to just meet them after the party, that way I could just spend my time here sitting at the bar instead of interacting with the Midgardians. “Well, you go enjoy yourself” he raised his glass to me, and I smiled as he walked off. The bar was close to empty, a few people lingering while others scattered back and forth ordering drinks.
The bartender smirked, leaning over the counter “What can I get you, angel?” He was young, having a boyish look to his face. I didn’t mind the nickname; it was something I was used to being called many times by guys. I never payed attention, never finding an interest in any of them. I bit my lip, looking at the long array of bottles that lay behind the counter, not knowing any of the Midgardian drinks.
A large hand was placed next to me on the counter, and one on my back. A deep, gruff voice had spoken, someone I had immediately recognized. “She just needs an empty glass,” I looked up, seeing his usual smirk being directed towards me. The glass was placed in front of me as I smiled up at him, “Thor! My, you’ve grown up since I have last seen you.”
He chuckled, “And you haven’t changed one bit, Queen (y/n).” I looked down at the glass as he poured an amber liquid into it- the famous ale of Asgard. “I’m no longer a Queen, Thor. So, you don’t have to call me that.” The liquid burned my throat slightly as I drank it, “Ah, my mistake, Lady (y/n), it’s just what I’m used to calling you”
I gave him a smile, patting his arm, “Not to worry, King Thor” I gave him a smirk, becoming proud of what he was now. “You certainly do not have to call me that, Lady (y/n).” I took another gulp of my drink, Thor filling it up soon after, “And why not? You should be proud of that title, Thor. I remember when we were just children, and you were always sitting in your father’s throne.” We both laughed, and I lightly slapped his arm, “And how you would always wear his crown, even though it was too big for your head.”
His face grew red as I recalled his past, becoming embarrassed. He quickly switched the subject, looking around the room, “Come, let me introduce you to some new friends of mine.” I grabbed my glass in one hand, hooking the other one on his arm, “So you’re finally letting meet your friends, Thor? Not too embarrassed of me this time, are we?”
Before Thor could retaliate, we had been standing in front of two people, a red-headed woman, and a blonde man. Thor cleared his throat as if to get their attention, and they quickly turned around. “Lady (y/n), This is Natasha, and Steve.” Steve nodded his head, lifting his drink slightly, “It’s good to finally meet you, welcome to the team.”
She smiled at me, welcoming me to the team the same as Steve did. I smiled back at her, “It’s nice to meet the both of you too." I looked to Thor, giving a small laugh, “It’s about time Thor introduced me to some his friends." Steve’s mouth made a small 'O' "so you're THE (y/n) Thor always talks about?"
Thor cut into the Conversation, "yes, this is her." He filled up my cup again, and I was quick to drink it, feeling the effects of the first couple drinks. “What exactly has Thor been saying about me?” I turned to him, raising an eyebrow.
Natasha turned towards me, raising her eyebrows. A sly smirk came to her face as she spoke, “All good things, and maybe more.” I laughed, turning towards Thor, “and what’s the ‘maybe more’ part?”
He rubbed the back of his, not quite meeting my eyes. “That’s enough of that, come I’ll introduce you to everyone else.” We walked around, him introducing me to everyone on the team, all of them seeming to already know about me because of Thor. After a few hours of talking with everyone we both went out to one of the balconies, drinks in hand as we leaned over, looking out at the city below.
Taking a sip of my drink I turned to look at him, a smirk on my face. “So, what were all those great things you were saying about me to everyone.” His cheeks turned slightly pink, facing away from me, and looking down at the streets. “Oh, ya know,” he stuttered, trying to think of what to say, “just how great you are at fighting,”
I chuckled, placing my hand on his arm, “Thor, we both know that’s not what you were saying.” He stood up, looking down at me as he scratched the back of his head, he let out a breath of air, “I know.” We both stared at each other, neither of us knowing what to say at this point. He began inching closer, his hand grabbing my bicep as I laid mine against his chest.
He was still quite a bit taller than me, even in my heels. He leaned down slowly towards me, and I met him halfway, not wanting to wait as he moved agonizingly slow. Our lips molded together, pulling our bodies in closer to each other, getting lost in our actions. His arm wrapped around my waist, the other on the back of my head, as if to make sure I wasn’t leaving. His hot breath fanned across my lips as we slowly pulled apart.
He smiled down at me as a blush formed across from my face, “Ive been wanting to do that for forever” his gruff voice spoke out. I let out a quiet giggle, “I know you have.” He huffed, an annoyed look covering his face.
“Have I always been that obvious?” I smiled, reaching up and pecking his lips softly “Maybe just a little.” He scrunched his eyebrows, opening his mouth to say something but was interrupted by Tony. “If you two love birds are done, the parties over if you wanna come hang out with us.”
We both started blushing, but still followed Tony inside, grabbing some seats on the couch in between everyone. I leaned into his side, is arm wrapping around me as he pulled me closer. It felt natural to us, as if we had already been dating for years. Everyone quickly fell into conversation, talking about so many different things that I couldn’t even remember. But I felt content, as if these were the people I was meant to spend my whole life with, my family.
