Cats Out Of The Bag (JJ Olatunji)

The video came out of nowhere. You were at work when Jide had texted you asking to come over to his apartment right after work. You had texted back agreeing. It wasn’t odd for you to go over to his flat after work anyway, but you weren’t the couple that spent every waking moment with one another, and you had gone to his place the night before. Worry settled deep in your chest as you managed to finish your workday, though it seemed like it only lasted longer than it normally would. You texted him to let him know you were on your way over now, but as you were closing out of your messenger app you couldn’t help but notice the influx of notifications you were receiving. You were a pretty private person when it came to your social media and personal life. You didn’t have a locked account or anything, but you definitely were not one to be in the limelight. Most people would call you a hypocrite for dating a youtuber, a large youtuber at that. But you loved Jide, and there was no lying about it.

To be completely honest you had met through friends, Talia to be exact, and had hit it off instantly. Sure you had seen the videos and cringed at his pick up skills, but outside of Youtube, he was different. There was no awkward pick-up lines, or talk about him using you. You were pretty sure he was the one for you, and the year and a half you had been together was proof of that. Sure hiding your relationship for such a long time period was hard, very hard. But it was worth it. You had never felt more secure, and JJ told you the same. You were going to come out slowly that you were in a relationship, but you didn’t want to be online any more than you were normally. It was the perfect little plan for the two of you. However, Logan Paul had another idea.

Little did you know that the blonde-haired man child had posted a video with many pictures showing you and JJ holding hands, some of just your face, and others even showed the two of you sharing a kiss. The date was a rare occurrence for the two of you as you were both busy people. JJ was constantly traveling and you were always stuck doing something for work. It was meant to be a private moment which was now plastered on the internet for literally anyone to see. When you had walked into JJ’s shared flat, the first thing you noticed was the concerned look on Simon’s face as he stared at the flat screen tv. You didn’t think much of it until you looked up and noticed it was a picture of a couple kissing. It took you a moment to realize that the couple happened to be JJ and yourself. Instantly, your heart dropped to your stomach and you felt your stomach churn.

JJ walked out of his bedroom and frowned seeing your shocked expression. “Baby..” He started, trailing off as he noticed your quivering lip. You had never felt more violated before. Everyone was in on the private life that you had done so well to protect. He took two giant strides towards your body and wrapped you in a hug. His arms wrapping around your waist and he encouraged you to lean into him. Almost as if it were instinct, you nuzzled your head into his neck and let your emotions overcome you.

“I know you don’t want this to be public, but we have to say something.” JJ started. “The things he said about you Y/n, I can’t let that slide.” He continued. It was then that you realized you hadn’t even watched the video, but you had no intention to if you were being honest.

“We should make a video, and post it.” You answered, nodding slowly. Although it was a giant step in your slow-moving relationship, it was one that was necessary. You could practically hear the comments now. Begging and demanding for an answer that you shouldn’t have to give, but in the end, it would make things easier. Jide looked at you hesitantly and quirked an eyebrow. 

“Are you sure?” He asked seriously. He knew how you were about your privacy, and the two of you had done so well beforehand keeping your relationship just that, private. This would be a new step for you, and there would be no going back. His fans weren’t dumb and could figure out all your social media in a matter of minutes of the video, and even though your accounts may be private, you would definitely be swamped with notifications. You thought about it for a moment but nodded.

 “We have to, people are already figuring out who I am, and they aren’t being exactly nice about it.” You said truthfully. After about an hour of more discussion, and trying to figure out what the best possible way to film this type of video, you finally were able to sit down and talk to a camera. Something you really were not comfortable doing. You sat down on the bed in Jide’s bedroom and huffed, fixing your hair for the tenth time, or so it seemed. 

“I promise you look amazing baby.” JJ encouraged you, smiling softly before turning on the camera and then moving to sit beside you. He kissed your cheek before turning your face to look at him. “I promise you no matter what I still love you, and nothing a blonde haired prick could ever make me regret being with you.” His words. You smiled at him and quickly pecked his lips before turning to face the camera. JJ tried to start his video like normal, although it wouldn’t be hard to see that he was obviously upset. 

“Hey guys, today, on a more serious note, we’re talking about someone and something very personal to me.” Jide started out. You twiddled your thumbs and smiled nervously at the camera. “A lot of you have probably already seen the video that Logan Paul had made about me, and yes, he was telling the truth for once. I do have a girlfriend.” He looked down at you and smiled, nudging you slightly which made you wave your hand slightly.

“Hello.” You spoke softly. You felt so shy in the moment, not even wanting to speak. But you knew you’d have to say something eventually. It would only make things worse if she stayed silent. Especially with the things that Logan had said about her. She had personally never met the guy, yet he spoke out against her like she was the absolute devil. 

“Just to clear some air, her name is y/n, she wants to be more private with this for obvious reasons, and she is not a slag.” JJ said seriously. You snorted and laughed making him bust out laughing as well. “No, but seriously. The things he said about y/n were really out of hand.” He said after he had calmed down. 

“I’ve never once in my life met Logan Paul or his family. I don’t really know how he figured out who I was.” You answered truthfully. You tried thinking about the best way to ask for privacy, huffing when it seemed impossible. However, thankfully your boyfriend seemed to be good at this type of thing. 

“Y/n and I obviously weren’t public for a reason, and we’d like to keep it that way as best as possible.” He started, looking at you as you smiled and nodded. “Please just leave our relationship alone. Yes she’s my girlfriend, there’s going to be some sort of limelight now that it’s out. But, just leave her be.” He said seriously.

The two of you continued to finish the video, and then posted it without much editing. It wasn’t long for the video to get a ton of views, and even more comments, which JJ assured you didn’t want to read. Little did the two of you know they were all great and supportive. After putting away all the equipment, yourself and JJ spent some time lying in his bed. You with your hands resting under his shirt, rubbing his stomach and chest lovingly. And JJ playing with your hair nonchalantly. 

“Guess the cats out of the bag.”
