Ring slips around mouse’s neck and is gone.

The rest of the movie is just the 9 Nazgul trying to capture the mouse while the eye of Sauron watches an extended game of Mouse Trap unfolding before him.

[INTERVIEW] 140711 BTS Talks Turning One and Where It Hopes to be in 10 Years

BTS has achieved the rookie dream winning not just one, but a handful of rookie awards last year, but the boys recently celebrated another milestone - their one-year anniversary.  It’s safe to say BTS is one of the standout rookie groups on the K-Pop scene currently, and in celebration of turning one, the BTS members swung by the Mwave studio on June 23 with the BTS 2014 Summer Package in tow for Mwave’s MEET&GREET. Below is our exclusive Q&A with BTS following the live MEET&GREET, where the boys reflected on the last year and their hopes for the future.

Mwave: If you really only had ‘Just One Day,’ how would you spend it? Jimin: I want to spend the day with my family. When we’re promoting, it’s really hard to see their faces.  Jin: If I only had one day left, I’d want to spend it with my family – eating dinner and exercising together. J-Hope: I want to go on a trip with my family. Anywhere in Korea would be great. Jung Kook: If the weather is nice, I want to bike along the Han River. If the weather isn’t nice, I’d probably play computer games. For one reason or another, I feel like I’ll wind up rehearsing even on a day off.  Suga: I want to see my family. Because I only see them a few times a year, if I only had one day, I want to go on a trip with my family. V: I want to go on a trip.

Mwave: You celebrated your first anniversary this year. What was your most proud/memorable moment? Jimin: Our debut, winning the rookie award and our fan club ceremony stand out in my memory. First, I’m proud of the fact that I was able to debut with BTS. Receiving our first rookie award trophy at the MelOn Awards last year and our fan club ceremony are memories I will truly never forget.  Jin: I will never forget our debut showcase. I think it’ll be the same for the other members as well. J-Hope: Our fan club ceremony is my most memorable moment. Although we had met with fans many times before, it was our first time meeting them in an official setting. It was really special being able to show our fans, who only look at us, our performances and music.  Jung Kook: Our debut showcase stands out to me. I just remember being really nervous right before we went on stage.  Suga: Our fan club ceremony was like a concert. It was at a venue I had visited as a spectator, but I had returned as the star. I was overcome with emotion because I was performing at the place I used to go to watch concerts.  V: Winning the rookie award and the day we debuted stand out in my memory.  Mwave: Where do you see BTS 10 years from now? Rap Monster: Like we are now, I hope we’re group that does music loyally. To not be broken up by money or personal greed, to be an icon. Jin: We will be working on music together 10 years from now. And we’ll probably each be doing our own thing to show our abilities as individuals as well. J-Hope: I think we’ll be having a party at the office, blowing out 10 candles on a cake.

We heard BTS is going to have its own webtoon. What can fans look forward to seeing in the webtoon? Rap Monster: Seven Hip Hop Monsters will appear in the webtoon, and the characters look exactly like us. From the beginning, the characters were created with our personalities, hobbies and looks in mind. It’s about Hip Hop Monsters from another world who debut as celebrities and the episodes that arise. It contains backstories that we experienced ourselves, so I think it’ll be an opportunity [for fans] to feel closer to BTS and to get to know BTS better. Mwave: You’ve been receiving a lot of love in Japan, can you feel your popularity there? Tell us about a memorable moment from your Japan fan meeting. Rap Monster: Right before we went on stage! There is a catharsis you feel when you see the fans from backstage that is hard to explain with words. There aren’t many moments when all you feel is your heart beating. Jin: We played games with the fans onstage, and that was my most memorable moment. J-Hope: I thought we’re receiving so much love from so many people. I think just thinking about the fact that the fans are with us no matter what makes me happy. I want to continue to show fans good things through our promotions in Japan.

Mwave: How did it feel to meet with fans through Mwave’s MEET&GREET a second time?

Jimin: Seeing fans from overseas congratulating us on our one-year anniversary made me realize how much we’re loved. Thank you for always loving and supporting us. Jung Kook: I thought I need to learn English ASAP. And be tough about it! I didn’t know so many fans overseas were watching us. As much as the fans love us, we will work just as hard.  V: We will work harder on our next album and return, so please look forward to it.  Mwave: We heard you’ll be at KCON this year. What are you looking forward to the most about KCON? Rap Monster: Just the thought of standing on the same stage as our distinguished sunbaenims and bringing our music to Americans is enough to make my heart flutter. I’m looking forward to going onstage and shouting, J-Hope: I’m looking forward to the fact that we’ll be able to meet many foreign fans in one place. I also heard it’s a grand-scale stage, so I’m happy to be able to perform on such a stage. I want to give an awesome performance.

TV Executives: “if the strike goes on, you won’t get new episodes of your favorite shows! You won’t get new movies you were looking forward to! Isn’t that terrible, what the writers are doing to you?”

Me: Bitch, that might have been an effective threat in 2007, but we have since survived a Covid shutdown and discovered ways to amuse ourselves while we waited, we can outwait this shit, too. I got a pile of shows saved I haven’t even watched yet, and a Mt. TBR waiting for me.

Compensate (and respect) your writers for their work, assholes.

And the thot plickens….

HOLY FUCK

SAG-AFTRA = Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists

More info:

- The actors walk off at the end of June if the studios don’t sit down with the writers

- Rumor is directors will follow. This will grind everything to a halt.

- Nobody is asking for a boycott. Neil Gaiman has pointed out that making Good Omens S2 a huge hit actually puts more pressure on Amazon to negotiate with the writers

- This implies it’s okay to catch up on old streaming content without breaking the line too

- This is a screenwriter strike; books will keep coming out.

- Movies already made will keep coming out for months. Again, actors have not called for a boycott; you aren’t breaking the line if you go see a movie.

- I don’t know where this puts podcasts but none of them have studio funding or platforms so they’ll probably keep going.

- Substack/Tumblr book club are all public domain works and will keep going. In addition to Dracula Daily there’s Whale Weekly, Dickens Daily, My Dear Wormwood (The Screwtape Letters), Letters from Watson (Sherlock Holmes) and more.

- Your local library always needs love. With the Libby app you don’t even need to physically go there.
