Most Underrated WIP

HEADS AND HEARTS by the.ktgrace

In the smoldering aftermath of the apocalypse, Arkadia offers safety and comfort in a blissful utopia with one main rule: People are sorted as Heads or Hearts. Heads think, Hearts feel. They work together, but don’t understand each other. But when the perfect Head mixes with a fiery Heart, they begin to unravel secrets that could burn Arkadia to the ground. Dystopian AU.

Well this is exciting!

Honored and grateful that my WIP fic for the The 100, “Heads and Hearts” was voted Most Underrated WIP in the Bellarke Fanwork Awards. Thank you readers!

Check it out!

Since I’m tired of overall drama in all social medias and all fandoms I wonder how many people are with it and if we should start a club and what would we name it

The non drama club

The non judging breakfast club

The I’m in it for the funsies club

The I buried my ego and my obnoxiousness with it club

Fandom is not your safe space.

Nor should fandom be your safe space. Fandom is for people to explore all sorts of possibilities in fiction and art. Not all of those possibilities are going to be fluffy, “wholesome,” “healthy,” “uplifting,” or whatever other adjective the Morality Brigade here on Tumblr wants to trot out.

Fiction is not reality. Depiction is not endorsement. No, it may never be “just a movie/fic/artwork,” but that does not make it reality. Fiction serves particular purposes, and one of them is to permit us to vicariously experience certain dangerous or otherwise unpleasant things safely.

If you believe that the purpose of fiction is to “uplift” us and fiction that does not is wrong and bad, congratulations: You’re a right-winger. (Or maybe you’re on the extreme left. When you get that far out to the ends of the spectrum, it doesn’t matter.)

If you think that anyone who writes or reads noncon is a rapist or rape apologist, you are too stupid for words. If you think that anyone who ships an incest ship or an adult/teen ship is an apologist for incest or pedophilia, you are too stupid for words.

It is none of your business what other people write, draw, and ship. Let me repeat that: It is none of your business what other people write, draw, and ship. You do not get to tell them they’re “trash,” you do not get to concern-troll them with passive-aggressive nonsense like “love yourself more uwu,” and you absolutely do not get to harass them off Tumblr or elsewhere.

Also, their past trauma or lack thereof is none of your business, either. Nobody has to present their “cred” as a rape or incest survivor before they’re allowed to enjoy fanworks that don’t meet with your approval. Total strangers don’t owe you their backstories. For that matter, not even your friends owe you every detail of their backstories. Mind your own business.

Don’t want to see all this “problematic” content on your dash or elsewhere? Unfollow people. Learn how to use Tumblr Savior, XKit, AO3 Savior, and similar tools. Control your own online experience. It is not the responsibility of others on this site to take care of you, who are a total stranger to them. Given how heavily female Tumblr skews, such demands are nothing but reinforcement of the expectation that women are supposed to take care of everyone else but themselves. (Yes, women are still oppressed as a class, even before you factor in intersectionalities.)

It’s amusing how some of you have the “courage” to dogpile, harass, and stalk others on this website whose taste doesn’t meet your oh-so-pure standards. People who create fanworks are soft, easy targets to kinkshame, aren’t they? Especially when, again, most of them are not cis straight men. Women have been policed and shamed throughout history for exploring their own sexuality — including by other feminists. The 1980s were full of feminists policing other feminists:

Often conflated with radical feminism, antiporn feminism grew out of radical feminism in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s—as did its counterpart, pro-sex feminism. The feminist porn wars of the ‘80s are largely forgotten to the general public by now, but at the time they were heated, divisive, and intensely personal. In 1982, Barnard College’s Center for Research on Women held a conference called “Towards a Politics of Sexuality,” which was picketed by antiporn feminists for including explorations of s&m and overall pro-sex viewpoints along with discussions of race and sexuality as well as sexual history (many of which were published in the 1983 anthology Powers of Desire: The Politics of Sexuality).

Yes, sex-positive feminism was eventually co-opted by patriarchal forces, but it started out because a great many feminists were heartily tired of radfems telling them they were “traitors” and “brainwashed” for liking anything but the blandest, most euphemistic, and most painfully egalitarian erotica. (If you like that sort of thing, more power to you. Your tastes don’t make you better than the rest of us.)

Getting back to the here and now, I don’t see you going over to 4chan or Reddit with these morality campaigns. More importantly, I don’t see you organizing to go after big media corporations, especially those whose TV shows, movies, and books help form the toxic backdrop of misogyny, racism, rape culture, homophobia, transphobia, and similar bigotries behind everyday modern life. The occasional blogpost calling out this animator or that author, no matter how many notes it gets, is not the same thing as an organized campaign.

No, harassing David Gaider off Tumblr doesn’t count, not when Bioware makes more of an effort with social justice in its games than any other game company does. You can scream all you want about how “allies suck.” You need them in the real world, beyond the hothouse environment of Tumblr. If people in general could be trusted to do the right thing for the right reasons all the time, without pressure, there would be no need for any kind of activism at all.

Nor does screaming “pedophile” at John Green and insinuating that any grown man who reaches out to teenage girls is “creepy.” Yes, his “cool dad” act is annoying, and his books leave a lot to be desired. Have you considered that such outreach is part of his job as a YA writer? Have you also considered that stigmatizing men for trying to be mentors to adolescents, when you have no evidence that they’re actually perverts, reinforces traditional gender roles?

Tl;dr: Fandom is not your safe space. Tumblr is not your safe space. AO3 sure as fuck isn’t your safe space. People will post things you don’t like in all three spaces, which they have every right to do. Get over it, grow the fuck up, take responsibility for your own mental health, and stop confusing your oversized sense of entitlement with “social justice.”

The 100 [positivity] follow train!

I love a good follow train! I haven’t seen one for The 100 in a while and this one is specifically dedicated to find other blogs that don’t involve themselves in loads of drama.

Rules:

  • Reblog this if you post at least 60% of The 100
  • Having complaints about the show can be healthy, so make sure that if you reblog this, you tag any ‘anti’ or ‘negative’ posts. The main goal for this is to attract blogs who will forever prioritize the show over a ship and dislike toxicity
  • Follow at least 5 other people who reblogged this - the more you follow, the more people that will follow you :)
  • Watch your follower count grow!

PSA: The problem with Antis™ isn’t the fact that they’re anti-bellarke, it’s that they’re gross to people and do shit like:

  • make jokes about a real human being getting in a car accident
  • drop disgusting anon hate into people’s ask boxes for disagreeing with them
  • make jokes about a white character being an actual POC because she was brown-faced in the show.
  • whitewash the MOC lead
  • erase the sexual identities of a large part of the Bellarke fandom based on our ship preferences.
  • oh and my recent personal favorite, make a disgusting post implying that a WOC would shoot up a con (this one really fucking pissed me off ya’ll, especially when it’s actually young white men who take part in mass shootings a large majority of the time, not POC and implying so even in a “joke” is fucking disgusting)
  • Demonize the men of color (Pike & Bellamy) while praising their white faves (O, Clarke, and L) and completely ignore canon facts and context in order to do so.
  • And so, so much more. Ya’ll I could go on all fucking day.

My point is, just being anti-bellarke is not at all the problem here ya’ll, so please don’t clump people who simply don’t like the ship with people who are complete assholes (*coughs* looking at you nonny who went after Tanvi on Tierney’s blog the other day).

People can like and dislike whatever fucking ships they want and they don’t need your approval to do so.

@clarkesbi-ellarke haha never apologize for possibly “offending white people”, if they’re offended then they deserve to be.

Theatre Gothic

When people ask about your show, you tell them to come. You don’t know why you do this. That is the last thing you want.

The curtain ripples, but when you look, there is no one there.

They collect everyone’s cell phones before showtime. To avoid mic interference, they said. The show goes on and there is still mic feedback. You suspect your phone has been taken so you can’t call for help.

You’re asked to get something from the dusty basement prop shop. No fucking way, you say. No goddamn way in hell.

No matter how many makeups wipes you use, it won’t come off. It won’t come off. Your reflection is not your own.

They call five minutes until showtime. Everyone yells thank you five and then rushes for the bathroom. Why do we all wait until five to use the bathroom. Why do we do this to ourselves.

The pre-show rituals are arcane. They are cryptic and unholy. No one seems to notice.

There is sawdust in the scene shop. That makes sense. There is also sawdust on the mezzanine. That does not make sense.

One day, the turntable starts turning the other way. The cast performs the entire show backwards.

An actor speaks. A techie cries. These events always happen in succession but no one has made the connection yet.

The stage manager brings in a whole cardboard tray of Starbucks cups, but they do not share. All the coffee is for them.

“Cue one, go.” Nothing happens.

We are late for curtain time. We are always late for curtain time. The audience is disgruntled but powerless.

“When are you free?” You’re not sure. You can’t remember the last time you were free. You cannot escape.

You go to the cast party. Half an hour becomes five. You do not remember the cast party. Everyone asks why you didn’t come.

You sweep before the show. You sweep after the show. The dirt never ends. You sweep forever.

You wait for your cue light. It never comes.

There is a Minute Maid can from 1990 in the grid. You ask where it came from. “What Minute Maid can?” You never see it again.

You wash the blood out of the costume again. Is it real blood? Is it your blood? Blood is everywhere.

You find confetti under the stage. Confetti has never been used here before.

Anonymous asked:

Clarke has grown to think of Bellamy as a brother, nothing more. That's apparent right now. Who knows what will happen in s5? And although Eliza may be against it now... that too may change going into another season.

Apparent to whom, exactly?

Was she thinking of him as a brother when he had his arm on her shoulder and his body right next to hers, speaking into her ear?

image

Was she thinking of him like a brother when they were flirting on Unity Day?

image
image

Was she thinking of him as a brother when she buried her head in his shoulder every damn time they hugged?

image
image
image

I mean, really? Does any of that look like something you’d see a sister do with her brother? Even the lengths of the hugs themselves say that she doesn’t think of him like a brother. Because they go on for. fucking. ever. Watch those scenes again. When’s the last time you’ve hugged your brother or seen someone hug their brother for that long? Pulling them closer all the while?

And, really, what is the basis for the “Clarke thinks of Bellamy like a brother” / ”Bellarke thinks of each other in a platonic way only” line of thinking anyway?

It can’t be that they never show physical affection to the other, because they do that all. the. damn. time.

It can’t be that neither have said the words, because while they haven’t said the elusive “I love you”, they’ve spelled it out in countless other ways. And on Clarke’s end (because that’s the basis of this ask), Clarke has only said the words to her previous partners when they’re on their death bed or literally on the other side. And yet people had no trouble believing Clarke was in love with Finn or Lexa.

It can’t be that they haven’t had any romantic moments, because they have. They’ve just been extremely subtle, given that their relationship has also been subtle.

Because, here’s the thing: the show has been paralleling Bellarke to the canon romances of the show from the very beginning.

image

Clarke comforting Finn after he kills a reaper?

image

Looks pretty damn similar to Bellamy reaching for Clarke after torturing Lincoln to save Finn.

image

Clarke running to and then hugging Finn when she finds out he’s not dead?

image

Looks nearly identical to Clarke running to and then hugging Bellamy when she finds out he’s not dead.

image

Abby comforting Kane after the City of Light is destroyed when he’s distraught over everything he did?

image

Looks similar to Clarke comforting Bellamy when he’s distraught over everything that he helped cause in Arkadia.

image

Abby kissing Kane’s cheek?

image

Looks similar to Clarke kissing Bellamy’s cheek.

image

Lincoln caressing Octavia’s face?

image

Looks a lot like Bellamy caressing Clarke’s face.

image

Octavia cleaning Lincoln’s wound and holding his hand?

image

Looks very similar to Clarke looking at Bellamy’s wound and holding his hand.

image

Clarke wrapping Lexa’s hand?

image

Is shot in the exact same way as Bellamy wrapping Clarke’s.

image

Clarke showing worry when Roan has a spear pointed directly at Lexa’s heart?

image

Is shot in nearly the exact same way as Clarke showing worry when Roan has a sword pointed directly at Bellamy’s throat.

So, here’s my point: if the Clexa scenes, and the Kabby scenes, and the Flarke scenes, and the Linctavia scenes are meant to be read as romantic, why wouldn’t the very nearly identical Bellarke scenes be meant to read as romantic or on-the-verge-of-romantic or definitely-more-than-just-friendship?

Because they haven’t banged yet? That would make 98% of the Clexa scenes not romantic and ~70% of the Kabby scenes not romantic.

Because they haven’t declared their love? That would make all but one of the Clexa scenes and Flarke scenes not romantic, all of the Kabby scenes not romantic, and nearly every single Linctavia scene would not be romantic!

Who knows what will happen in season 5? Hell, who knows what will happen in the second half of season 4! Bellamy and Clarke are very quickly verging on the path toward romance.

And, as for Eliza, she most definitely isn’t against Bellarke. Yes, I’m sure she’s a bit sick of the media (and a portion of the Bellarke fanbase) being so Bellarke focused and not focusing on the current storylines.

The way Eliza has handled Bellarke has been exactly as expected for a storyline that hasn’t quite broken. She has been completely supportive of the relationship as it stands on the screen right now: two people who are each other’s rocks, who center each other and support each other and care very deeply about each other.

Of course she isn’t shouting from rooftops about Bellarke! Actors only do that for two reasons: it’s the ship currently happening (like how Ricky was all during Linctavia, or how Paige and Ian have been with Kabby and how Chris has been with Marper…and how Eliza and Thomas were all during Flarke and how Eliza and Alycia were all during Clexa and how Eliza still is while Clarke is still in mourning) or when it’s never gonna happen and they’re trolling (like Bob and Richard have done for Murphamy). It is the actors’ job to promote the show and the story being told, but they’re also allowed to have fun and joke around with things they know won’t give away future storylines.

The second the episode drops where there is 100% Confirmed Facebook-Official Bellarke Romance™ you bet your ass you’ll see Eliza (and Bob) be completely on board.

(Like I legit can’t tell if you’re a Bellarke shipper who honestly believes Clarke thinks of him like a sibling but think maybe in S5 that’ll change, or if you’re anti-Bellarke but acknowledge that the show might go there but hasn’t gone there yet…either way, sorry for this long ass rant. I had feelings.)
