Imperfect Dinner - chapter 9

“My phone is gonna ring any second.”, Meredith guessed. “Therefore I believe it is more clever to just spill the tea myself.”, she decided bravely.

“At least let us guess, slowpoke!”, Alex suggested, making his best friend sigh in hesitation but finally allow it with a nod.

“Three guesses, you can choose one person for each one!”, Andrew made the rules, actually pretty excited about what his ex-girlfriend was going to tell them. He hoped it could be reason enough for them to try again.

“Alright.”, the blonde agreed. “Number 1 is for Carina.”

“Uhh, well, that was unexpected.”, the gynecologist chuckled. “How about you are pregnant with your fourth child?”, she wondered.

“Too crazy to just tell all of you at the table. I mean, this would be as much of a shocker as if Amelia suddenly announced Owen as her baby’s daddy.”, Maggie, not aware of how she was telling the truth, compared, giggling again.

Her sister’s eyes widened, which didn’t go unnoticed by her boyfriend, who simply understood the gesture as if she was finding the idea ridiculous, like he did. Owen noticed it too, and was kind of hurt, believing the same thing, but not saying anything.

“Okay, chance number 2 is for Jo!”, Meredith chose, almost sure that none of her friends would be able to guess it right, but not prepared for the absolute smartness of the fresh general surgeon.

“You’re dating someone. Let’s say, a new colleague.”, she nonchalantly exposed her friend’s secret, not even knowing she’d be right.

“Wait what? Probably not, right Mer?”, Teddy said in total surprise.

“You aren’t, are you?”, Andrew, who wasn’t convinced either, asked in disbelief.

“Uhh, she is right. I am dating McWidow. Tadaa!”, Meredith confirmed.

“Huh? Who is McWidow?”, Owen wanted to know.

“You, Hunt.”, Tom joked. “But I guess you’d know if it was you.”

“Tom!”, Amelia warned her friend.

“Oh, getting defensive there again, right Shepherd?”, the male neurosurgeon teased.

“Yeah, why exactly are you trying to help him out of this uncomfortable situation after he caused me to feel this way all evening.”, Link wondered. “Let him squirm for once.”

“Leave her alone, dude!”, Alex interfered, meaning both, his wife’s best friend and Koracick.

“Guys, guys, guys!”, Maggie yelled loudly, getting everybody’s attention back. “You know, I love both of my sisters equally. But now I really wanna hear about Meredith’s new lover boy. Is that alright for you?”

“Not really.”, Andrew said under his breath, sinking back into his chair in defeat.

“McWidow is Cormac Hayes, the new peds surgeon.”, his ex-girlfriend explained. “Cristina sent him.”

“Of course she would do such thing.”, Teddy chuckled. “Is he hot?”

“Too much detail. I was brave enough to spill my own tea, so don’t be greedy.”, Meredith warned.

“I mean, he definitely is.”, Carina judged, getting nudged by her brother, who for once would have loved to have her on his side.

“He stole your job.”, Owen realized, talking to Alex. “And you start dati-”, he started but was interrupted by Amelia’s phone as she got messaged.

“Hey, how did the ultrasound go? Is it twins like what mom wished for?”, the brunette read Nancy’s message out loud.

“You would have told us…right?”, Tom inspected his best friend.

“No worries, I am not having twins.”, the neurosurgeon promised.

“We’re not having twins.”, Atticus corrected his girlfriend. Amelia thought about finally telling the truth, but she couldn’t bring it over her lips. She didn’t want to hurt him that much.

“Hello??? Amy!!”, Nancy continued her attack of messages. “Don’t ignore me! I simply wanna know how my baby sister is doing!”, she sent the next one. “And I don’t want to reply to you.”, the brunette mumbled, looking at her phone. Of course, the older Shepherd wasn’t having that and called her a minute later.

“Oh, crap.”, Alex commented, reading his friend’s mind.

“Nancy, stop annoying me!”, Amelia answered the phone, sighing.

“You could have simply told me, what I wanted to know and there had been no need for me to call you.”, her sister explained.

“The baby is doing great. It is healthy and I am 20 weeks along. Goodbye!”, the neurosurgeon informed and hang up the phone, hoping for Carina to not say anything, but of course the gynecologist got confused.

“Amelia, remember how we established that you’re not 20 weeks but 24 weeks along?”, she asked, seeing the begging look on the face of her patient and immediately shutting up, but it was already too late.

“No, that can’t be right. It must be 20 weeks, since this is how long the conference in San Diego is ago.”, Link interfered.

“Unless…”, Maggie started thinking things through as much as her drunk brain would let her. “Oh God Amelia, please don’t say my crazy comparison from earlier wasn’t fake.”, she whined.

“You mean…”, Owen wondered, as he looked at the cardio surgeon, not quite believing what was being said.

“No!”, Atticus begged. “Please tell me, this isn’t true! I know the both of you were together at that time, but you said this is my baby!”

“Here we go again!”, Teddy commented. “Cheers to Leo’s parents giving him another sibling.”, she added.

“I didn’t know any better!”, Amelia defended herself loudly. “When I had the ultrasound this week, I thought I was 20 weeks along, because I truly believed it was yours, Link. But Carina told me I am further along and no matter what anyone here wishes for, this makes the baby Owen’s.”, she shrugged and teared up.

“When it comes to babies, you are the craziest person, I ever met!”, the ortho surgeon yelled in his anger.

“Hey!”, Alex and Owen shouted at the same time, being the only ones beside him to know about the neurosurgeon’s first born.

“What? Why are you reacting like this, guys? Didn’t she tell all of you about her brainless baby in LA?”, Link wanted to know, realizing he had just exposed yet another secret of his girlfriend. “See, the only thing you do about your children is lying.”

“I swear, if you don’t shut the fuck up anytime soon, I will rip you apart!”, Tom joined the fight angrily, taking everyone by surprise, especially Owen, who had been wanting to say the same thing.

Amelia just stood there, hurt by her boyfriend’s words, although she knew that this situation was so painful for him to turn him into such a monster. She silently cried, while staring out of the window, before she couldn’t take it anymore and ran outside, followed by Teddy and Owen.

“Amelia, stop!”, the blonde ordered. “There is no sense in running away! Nobody is judging you for what happened to your baby, I promise!”, she tried to get her to stop walking. “Did you know?”, Teddy whispered to her ex-boyfriend.

“About her dead son, yes. But she never told me the cause of his death.”, he sadly answered as they finally reached the distraught brunette, who was now just standing there with empty eyes, hugging herself to protect her unborn kid and looking really pale.

—

I don’t know about you, but I am sad. Let’s see what happens next between our most hated love triangle. And let’s see what happens between Amelia and Link, because you shouldn’t forget that we still don’t know Link’s secret. Any guesses?

I hope you liked this chapter! :)

Imperfect Dinner - chapter 1

“Why are you always hosting everything at our house?”, Maggie complained, stressed out. “Like, seriously! Why can’t Owen and Teddy for example be the ones who prepare all of that in their home and we get to be guests?”

“Maybe because the two of them just had a baby?”, Amelia replied as she set the table and yawned tiredly.

“Amelia has made a point there.”, Meredith meddled from the kitchen. “Also, I like hosting these parties and you do too. Otherwise you’d be working right now, which you aren’t.”, she added with a mischievous grin.

“It’s just so much work.”, her sister sighed. “And we could have used Amelia as our excuse, if it counts for Teddy and Owen.”, Maggie laughed, meaning no harm but not being the greatest fan of preparing everything for two hours.

“What?”, the neurosurgeon laughed. “Because I am pregnant?”, she wondered.

“Exactly. Because you and Link are having a sweet little Shepherd-Lincoln baby soon.”, her best friend grinned, proudly. She couldn’t wait to finally be an aunt.

“U huh…”, Amelia somehow agreed, pretty okay with everyone believing that this baby was Link’s. Suddenly, the bell rang and interrupted her thoughts.

“I’ll open the door.”, Meredith announced but was beat by Zola, who was happily cuddling her uncle Alex. “Hey! I didn’t know the four of you would arrive together.”, she addressed Jo, Alex, Andrew and Carina, but let them in right after. “And hello to you!”, she grinned at the tiny baby which was carried by her best friend. It didn’t take long for Tom to be there and Owen and Teddy were soon ringing the bell, too.

“Hi, my sweet boy!”, Amelia greeted Leo as soon as her ex-husband came into the eating room with the toddler. She immediately stood up and took the child into her arms, where he started beaming happily and gave her many kisses.

“If you ask me, they still look like a family.”, Carina whispered to her brother, as she and Andrew drank their first wine and watched their two friends.

“That’s insensitive!”, he hushed his sister, glad that she had been quiet enough for nobody else to hear. “They are both with other people now.”

As if on queue, Atticus arrived and went to kiss his girlfriend first. He took his sweet time, stroking Amelia’s belly, before he greeted the other guests and hosts too. These were all of those who had time today, besides Nico and Levi. They had decided to have a calm weekend for themselves.

“We are so glad that all of you are here with us today! Cheers to a great evening!”, Maggie made a small welcome-speech. “Feel free to drink whatever you can find whenever you want, the first gear of dinner will be ready soon.”

“Tired, Shepherd?”, Tom asked his somehow best friend as she yawned. He would never admit it to anyone, especially not Amelia herself, that she was the only person he would talk to about his problems.

“This one…”, the brunette pointed to her stomach. “Is making me tired all the time. I could sleep all day if I wanted to.”, she chuckled. “How about you? Are you feeling better, after…you know…”

“Teddy chose Owen, that’s just how it is and I can’t do anything but try to win the woman I love back.”, her previous mentor shrugged. “The way you did it was really smart. Getting a rebound and now having the rebound’s baby, which concludes into calling him your boyfriend and who knows, maybe soon to be husband.”

“Oh shut up!”, Amelia laughed. “I’ll admit that Link used to be a rebound but I was fair enough to tell him that myself. And now, we are a couple. Sometimes things just happen. Maybe it was meant to be.”

“What happened to ‘Am I hung up on Owen? Sure! Maybe I’ll always will be.’?”, Tom teased. “Did you completely forget about him?”, he asked.

“I don’t think we need to talk about that right now. He and I…we are okay with each other. Friends and a family through Leo.”, his previous student stood her ground as Maggie joined them.

“Pierce, how is the jobless life going?”, Koracick wondered, surprising both sisters with his question.

“What is he talking about?”, Amelia wanted to know, not quite understanding what her friend meant.

“I…”, Maggie sighed. “I quit my job at the hospital.”, she admitted.

“You what?”, Alex asked, having overheard the conversation and drawing everyone’s attention to the small group.

“I quit. And thanks to Tom, all of you are aware of that now.”, the ex-surgeon announced.

“I have an idea!”, Andrew started, trying to interrupt his colleagues staring at his friend. “Maggie just got exposed. Something she didn’t felt like sharing is now a thing everybody in this room knows.”

“Yes?!”, Teddy tried to follow his words, a little confused about what was coming their way.

“Well, the kids will be upstairs for the whole evening with the nanny. Why don’t we play a game, in which all of us have to put our phone onto the table, visible for everyone.”, DeLuca continued.

“You mean as in sharing every message and let people listen to incoming calls?”, Link wondered. “Sounds like fun. Especially for those of us who have no secrets.”

“That is stupid!”, Meredith and Amelia said at the same time.

“Why? Do you have anything to hide?”, Owen teased the two women, looking at his ex-wife in particular.

“No, but why would I allow all of you to see my private messages and listen to my phone calls?”, Jo asked.

“Well, I am playing. There’s nothing I am hiding.”, Carina decided and was the first one to put her phone into the middle of the table.

“Me too.”, Alex, Maggie, Link and Owen shrugged. Andrew joined them.

“Seems like I am too old to grasp such so called funny concepts of games, but I’m in.”, Tom announced and took his place.

“Alright.”, Jo shrugged.

“On my behalf…”, Meredith sighed.

“Amelia?”, the neurosurgeon’s boyfriend waited patiently.

“Come on, we can’t quit now.”, Teddy pitied the both of them, looking at her friend.

“Fine!”, Amelia rolled her eyes and put her phone onto the table. “But just so you know, this is crap!”, she complained.

“Okay, so we will play for the whole dinner time, right?”, Alex asked and Andrew nodded.

“How huge is the chance of getting an awkward message or a weird call during these three to four hours anyway?”, Owen chuckled as Meredith’s phone started ringing already.

—

Okay, I was too excited to wait, since I already had some ideas. So, here is chapter one, the other chapters will probably be longer. Feel free to guess the character’s secrets. :D

Peacocking

Hello, beautiful people! This one is in response to an anon prompt about Tom Koracick returning in 14x13. The little surprise that I was telling you all about earlier is that I co-wrote this with the lovely @omeliathehurricane! She is the greatest. I have never had as much fun writing a fic as I did this one. She has the greatest ideas, and it was such a great time putting this together with her over the last three days. So thank you, @omeliathehurricane, for a lovely weekend of writing and laughing. This is also by far the longest fic I’ve posted so far. Writing is more fun when you’re doing it with friends.

Anyway, here it is. It gets rather R-rated toward the end, so if that’s not your thing, steer clear.

Peacocking

“What have we got?” Owen asked the paramedic as she wheeled in a gurney carrying a bloody, bruised man.

“Motor vehicle accident victim,” the paramedic replied. “Hypotensive, tachycardic, and tachypneic. This guy is pretty banged up. Lots of contusions and lacerations. Internal bleeding seems likely, and he’s clearly had some head trauma.”

Owen nodded. “Thanks, I’ll take it from here.” The paramedic thanked him and headed back toward the ambulance. Owen turned toward the residents who were waiting for instructions. “Someone page neuro 911. We’re going to need to get this guy to surgery ASAP, so we’ll need a quick consult.” Owen began to assess the patient’s extremities, and within minutes, both Amelia and Tom Koracick were walking into the exam room. Owen looked up, surprised to see both of them there. He turned to regard the resident who had paged them. “When I say page neuro, I mean one neurosurgeon, not the entire department,” he reprimanded the resident who was now shrinking back under his gaze.

“It’s not his fault, Owen,” Amelia responded. “I got the page, but Tom insisted on coming down with me, so here we all are.”

“That won’t be a problem, will it?” Koracick asked, smiling a bit too widely for Owen’s liking.

“No, not at all,” Owen said, doing his best to keep his voice cordial. “Amelia, can you start the neuro exam?”

She nodded and walked to the head of the bed, pulling out her penlight as she did so. “Crap,” she said after a few flicks of her penlight. “His right pupil is blown. His ICP is elevated. We’re going to need to get this guy to surgery immediately.”

“I’ll need to work alongside you, then,” Owen replied. “He likely has some significant internal bleeding, and I can’t wait until after you stabilize his ICP to assess and treat it.”

“Sounds good, let’s go,” Amelia said, already beginning to pull the gurney to the door. To her surprise, Koracick came around to the other side of the gurney and began to push. “Tom, I think this is probably a job that one neurosurgeon can handle.”

“Really?” Koracick asked with raised eyebrows. “Kicking me out of your surgeries? Is that any way to thank the man who saved your life?”

Amelia rolled her eyes. Apparently he was just as much of an asshole as he’d always been. “Fine, whatever,” she huffed. “Let’s just get moving.”

-

“Music please,” Koracick called as he, Owen, and Amelia all prepared to begin the procedure.

Amelia wasn’t paying much attention. She had gotten used to his preference for playing music while she was a resident, and she was now able to tune it out. She could vaguely hear the sounds of some song that had techno sort of vibes. It wasn’t what she’d expected of him, but she thought nothing of it. Then the lyrics began. “That was unforgettable. I wanna do it again. You’re crazy like an animal, and I don’t want it to end.” Wow. This was really not what she had been expecting. “Tell me all your dreams and darkest fantasies. Let’s talk about sex, baby. Let’s talk about you and me. Let’s talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be.”

Amelia’s head snapped up, her eyes immediately flying to Koracick. As soon as she made eye contact, she was sorry she had. He had that stupid, shit-eating grin on his face, and he wiggled his eyebrows a couple times before winking. God, she hoped Owen hadn’t seen that. She hesitantly turned to glance at him, and the confused look on his face as he looked back and forth between her and Koracick told her he had seen it. Fantastic.

“Alex, why are you making us eat lunch up here?” Meredith moaned as she and Maggie followed him into the gallery and took a seat on either side of him.

“Just watch.” Alex grinned, nodding down to the surgery happening below them.

“What is going on down there?” Maggie asked, looking back and forth between Meredith and Alex, hoping one of them would clarify the situation. Alex’s face was still plastered with that stupid, over-excited grin whereas Meredith’s went from confused to one of understanding and amusement as she watched the three surgeons below them working on their patient.

Alex chuckled. “Isn’t it obvious, Pierce? Shepherd and Koracick banged. Man. I can’t believe it. I had always heard she was a good lay. Hell, one time I walked by the on-call room, and Hunt was making noises I’ve never heard a human make before. If only I’d known that all I had to do to get her into bed with me was cut into her brain.”

“Ew, Alex! She’s like your sister, and you have Jo! What’s wrong with you?” Maggie scrunched up her nose in disgust.

“I’m not saying I want to do her right now!” He shrugged. “But had if I had known it was that easy, maybe I would have made my move while I was still single.” He looked up, and, just like Koracick, wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at Maggie, earning him a punch in the shoulder.

Meredith laughed at the other two before turning her gaze back to Amelia. “I guess Hurricane Amelia wasn’t entirely the result of that massive meningioma.”

Koracick smirked and looked up to the gallery, taking time to make eye contact with Maggie, Meredith, and Alex individually before turning his gaze to Amelia. “Shepherd, do you choose a different bed for every guy you screw in the on-call room, or were we going at it in the same bed you consummated your marriage in?” he asked. Both Amelia and Owen froze on the spot. “You know, she was hot for her teacher back in the day. I guess it never wore off.” He winked at Owen.

Amelia swallowed hard as she noticed Owen tighten his grip on the forceps he was holding. If they had been made of plastic she was sure they would now be picking bits of broken plastic out of their patient’s body cavity.

“I wonder which one Shepherd thinks is better in bed.” Alex’s voice rang out once more through the OR. “Or maybe it was Mark Sloan?”

Amelia snapped. “Karev! For the love of God, shut up! One more word and I will have a field day cutting out the parts of your brain which make you a jackass, and trust me when I say by the time I’m finished, Jo will be changing your diapers, and you won’t even be able to get it up.”

“Alex, Mere, don’t you guys have somewhere to be right now? I know I should be going. We’re all busy people. Very busy people. We’re surgeons, we’re always busy; saving lives and all. We should definitely be leaving now. I think I can hear my pager, can’t you?” the three surgeons operating heard Maggie say, and the next time Amelia looked up her sisters and Alex were finally nowhere to be seen.

“Feisty inside the OR and out! I like it Shepherd,” Koracick mused, before instructing the nurse to do more irrigation of the area he was working on.

Owen finally broke his silence, his voice reflecting how uncomfortable the entire situation was making him. “Could we please talk about something else? You’ve had your fun, now can we please concentrate on our patient?”

Before Amelia managed to agree with Owen or even attempt to change the topic of conversation, Koracick’s voice cut her off. “Come on, Dr. Hunt, why not join in the fun? It’s not like you two are together anymore. So tell me, did she used to do that thing with you? The one where her legs go one way and you…”

“Tom!” Amelia interrupted, her embarrassment and frustration multiplying with every passing second.

“Okay, prude!” He held his hands up in defeat. “I will say one last thing, though,” he turned his attention back to Owen. “You’re welcome.” Owen looked at him, confused. “You see her hands? I taught them everything they know, both inside the OR and out, and they really know what they are doing now.”

“Tom.” Through gritted teeth and a clenched jaw, Amelia growled at him.

“Fine,” he whined dramatically. “I was just having fun. What did you do to her, Dr. Hunt? She used to be the life of the party, and now she can’t even handle a few jokes.”

“DeLuca!” Owen’s voice bellowed throughout the OR. “You good to close?” DeLuca didn’t even have the chance to confirm before Owen slammed his surgical equipment down onto the tray and stormed out.

Owen stalked down the hallway and into the first empty on-call room he found. He was thankful to find it empty, allowing him to decompress a little. He began to pace around the room, talking to himself as he walked. “She was just a ball of fun when you knew her, was she? Yeah, that’s probably because her life was a wreck and she was struggling with a drug addiction. Pardon me for supporting her sobriety and helping her live a more stable, fulfilled life. A life that also included mind-blowing sex. I must have been the worst husband ever.” Owen stopped his pacing to sit down on one of the beds and take a breath. As he glanced around the room, Koracick’s comment about Amelia’s frequent on-call room trysts popped into his mind, and he was suddenly leaping from the mattress as if it were on fire. Owen headed back down the hall and toward the parking lot, now thoroughly convinced that he needed a drink. Or five.

“Hey, Joe, a scotch please?” Owen signaled the bartender, slumping onto the bar stool. From the corner of his eye he noticed the familiar and unbelievably frustrating face of Tom Koracick. “Actually make that a double.” He quickly made the decision that one wasn’t going to be enough to wipe his memory of that day.

“Tough day, huh?” Joe smiled understandingly.

Owen sighed, hoping the drink would alleviate some of the weight on his shoulders and jealousy clouding his brain. “I found out something that I wish I was never told, so yeah, tough day.” His hand gripped the glass tightly as he quickly polished off half of the contents of the glass in one gulp.

“Whoa, take it easy there!” The irritating tone of Tom’s voice was suddenly very close to Owen’s ears.

“Go away Tom,” Owen sighed, defeated by all the new information that had been thrown at him that day. How could Amelia sleep with Tom? Why would she? Had she moved on? Was she dating? Sleeping around?

Tom simply ignored him and instead chose taunting as his next method of torture. “Not getting any at the moment, then? Shepherd ruined other women for you? She has that effect on men. But I guess you couldn’t satisfy her fully or you would still be married.”

“Tom,” Owen growled, much like Amelia had done earlier that day while in surgery.

“I mean, she always says she dislikes me so intensely, but you know what they say. Hate is the most powerful of aphrodisiacs, and let me tell you, she may hate me, but she walked out of that on-call room as satisfied as she had ever been.” At hearing Tom’s words, Owen downed the rest of his drink and slammed it down on the counter. He needed to get out of here before he committed a crime.

“Leaving already?” Tom continued to taunt as he watched Owen throw $20 onto the bar and make an effort to leave. “Walking out on me just like you walked out on your marriage?” Owen stopped dead in his tracks, fists clenched, his lungs filling with slow, deep breaths.

“Was all of that really necessary earlier?” Amelia asked Maggie while she picked at the bowl of nuts in front of her; their table on the other side of the bar, out of sight from Tom and Owen.

“I didn’t know that was what Alex was planning,” Maggie, ever the peacekeeper, explained. “But really, Amelia, Koracick?”

Amelia sighed. “I know. I don’t know what I was thinking. I was horny and lonely and, well, Owen was off hooking up with Carina so I didn’t really think it through.”

“So tell me,” Maggie wiggled her eyebrows, “Owen or Tom: who is better in bed?” Amelia laughed, rolling her eyes at her sister, who was now sitting so close to the edge of her seat Amelia was worried Maggie would slide off it and onto the floor any second.

“Well…” she began but found herself being interrupted by two very loud voices coming from the other side of the bar.

“YOU THINK YOU’RE BETTER THAN ME, HUH?” One of them bellowed, silencing almost everyone in the bar. “SHE ONLY SLEPT WITH YOU BECAUSE SHE COULDN’T BE WITH ME!”

“OH YEAH? WELL IT’S NOT MY FAULT YOU GAVE UP AND WALKED OUT ON HER. AT LEAST I CAN FULLY SATISFY HER!”

“Amelia!” Maggie’s concerned expression nodded towards the two arguing figures. Owen and Tom.

Amelia immediately jumped up from her seat, “I will murder the both of them,” she growled, running over to the two men.

“YOU FULLY SATISFY HER? SHE COMPARED BEING WITH ME TO A BED AND BREAKFAST IN VERMONT!”

“VERMONT! WHAT ARE YOU 80? FOR AN ARMY MAJOR, YOU ARE SUCH A PRUDE!”

“PRUDE? AMELIA CERTAINLY DIDN’T THINK I WAS A PRUDE WHEN SHE WAS SCREAMING MY NAME ALL NIGHT. THE NUMBER OF ORG-!”

“Enough!” Amelia stepped in between the two men. “Enough with this chauvinistic penis parade! You two are like a couple of peacocks fanning their feathers. If it helps, the only thing you two have in common about your amazing sex lives is me - so you’re welcome. And to settle this mass debate, I don’t want to screw either of you right now! The only thing I’d like to do with either of your dicks is cut them off with a rusty scalpel. Then let’s see how boastful the pair of you are about your ‘skills’ in the sack.”

Both men swallowed hard before opening their mouths to say something. “I don’t want to hear your excuses,” Amelia dismissed the pair of them. “You have embarrassed me enough by arguing about me like I’m some object to be owned, and for what? To inflate your own egos? Pathetic. So now that this entire bar knows about my sex life, I hope you’re happy with yourselves.” She turned to face Owen, “I expected this from Tom, but you? We were married. Show me a little respect.”

“Yeah! Show her some respect.” Tom jeered. Owen lunged at him but was quickly stopped by Amelia grabbing a fistful of his shirt and dragging him away from Tom and toward the entrance to the bar.

“What the fuck, Owen?” she hissed as she came to a stop outside the door and let go of his shirt.

Owen stared back at her without remorse. “You’re asking me? You should be asking him! I wasn’t the one who caused any of this. I was minding my own business, having a drink, when that jackass sat down and starting running his mouth about our sex life. I tried to be the bigger man and leave, but then he hit below the belt. There’s only so much one man can take. What did you expect me to do?”

“I expected you to walk away!” she shouted. “I expected you to consider how humiliated I would be that two neanderthals were shouting about me and my sex life like I’m some piece of meat, and, I don’t know, maybe not do that?”

Owen could feel all the pent up frustration, jealousy, and anger of the night bubbling over. “Oh, so you expected me to be concerned about your feelings, meanwhile you go running off to on-call rooms to screw anyone and everyone without a second thought about how I’d feel about that?”

“You slept with Carina!” she yelled back. “Why is it okay for you to have rebound sex, but as soon as I want to feel good I’m being unreasonable and inconsiderate of your feelings?”

“It just bothers me, okay?” He defensively took a step back from her, but Amelia - never one to step away from a fight - took a step closer to him.

“And you don’t think seeing you and Carina in our house bothered me?”

“It’s different!” he shouted, exasperated.

“How is it different, Owen?  Am I expected to sit at home miserable while you live your life? Please enlighten me! I’m supposed to wallow in loneliness while you return to your bachelor days? Please explain how it’s different to me because I really don’t understand-” she didn’t get to finish her sentence because his mouth was on hers, his tongue aggressively pushing past her lips and running over her teeth as he tilted her head to the side. She relaxed into the kiss for a second as she felt him begin to suck on her bottom lip, losing herself in the heady passion that had drawn her into her relationship with him to begin with before remembering where she was and pulling back, a shocked and angry expression on her face. “What the hell was that for?” she asked.

He did not look the least bit sorry. “That was to shut you up so that I could explain to you that Carina was just an outlet because I was losing my mind thinking about how I couldn’t be with you! That was because even though you never let me finish a sentence and are the most infuriatingly confusing person I have ever loved, I still want to be with you!”

She scoffed. “I’m confusing? How about you?! How was I supposed to know that you bringing another woman into the house we bought to live in together really meant, ‘I miss you?’ How was I supposed to be able to interpret your flings and your broodiness and your distance without you talking to me about any of it? Owen, I can’t-” and then his lips were on hers again. This time she only allowed him about one second of pleasure before she pulled back, a scowl on her face and her cheeks red. “Would you stop doing that?” she asked breathlessly, her fingers travelling up to her swollen lips for a split second before her mind registered that he could see everything she was doing.

He tilted his head, a hint of a smile on his face. “Why should I stop?”

She huffed and looked away. She had too many emotions running through her to be able to look at him right now. “Because every time you do that I lose my train of thought. I get all confused and my brain goes cloudy! And and all I can think about is…” she paused, biting her lip as her blush deepened.

“All you can think about is…?” he asked suggestively, now starting to smirk a bit.

She crossed her arms and looked straight into his eyes, glaring at him in a way that was probably supposed to communicate anger, but actually just turned him on. “All I can think about is how badly I want to take your clothes off! Happy?”

“A little…” Owen’s smirk was taking over his whole face now. He briefly glanced back to the bar’s entrance and opened his mouth to say something, but Amelia was speaking before he even had the chance.

“Owen, I swear to God, if you make any sort of remark or joke about who’s better at getting me off, I will take great pleasure in castrating you.”

His smirk faltered as he turned his gaze to her, but the sparkle in his eyes was as prominent as ever. “If you castrate me,” he began, taking a suggestive step toward her, “then I won’t be able to remind you why I’m your favorite. And that’s just unfair to me and, well, mainly to you.” His head tilted in that way that always made her ovaries somersault, as he took another annoyingly suggestive step toward her.

She was fighting hard to keep the scowl on her face, despite how turned on she was getting. “If you think being a cocky asshole is the best way into my pants, you’re going to be sorely disappointed.”

He chuckled. “It seemed to work for Kora-” he stopped mid-word as he felt her hand grip his package a bit too firmly for his liking.

“I swear, I will castrate you,” she hissed before letting go.

He took a step back, not wanting to chance it that she’d get more aggressive with the next go. “Amelia, we both just admitted that we want each other. Now, are we going to stand out here in a parking lot and argue particularities, or are we going to do what we both want to do right now?”

She crossed her arms and sighed. “Owen, you can’t just…” she stopped. She didn’t really know what she was trying to say. All she knew was she wasn’t about to make it that easy for him, not when she was still mad at him for discussing her, or rather their, sex life in such a public place.

Unfortunately for her, he could read her. “Amelia, just get in my truck.”

“Owen…” she said, getting even less of an argument composed this time.

“In the truck,” was all he said as he stared down at her, eyebrows raised and head tilted to the side. She continued to stare back, a bit happy that he had stopped talking. If he just wanted to have a staring contest, she was confident she could win. What she didn’t count on, however, was him abruptly stepping forward and throwing her over his shoulder.

“Owen!” she squealed as she squirmed from her place on his shoulder. “What are you-”

“I told you, in the truck,” he cut her off before opening the passenger door and setting her on the seat. “Now, are you going to behave, or do I need to buckle you in and engage the child lock?”

“You’re practically kidnapping me,” she pouted, her gaze fixed straight ahead. “I could have you arrested for this.”

“But then you wouldn’t get the multiple orgasms your eyes are begging for right now.” Her mouth fell open as she turned to gape at him. He used this opportunity to shut the door and jog around the front of the truck to climb in the driver’s side. Much to his amusement, no matter how much she protested and pouted, she made no effort to get out of the truck.

Owen glared at the driver beside him as the man zoomed forward and cut him off. The aggressive driving maneuver had nearly resulted in a fender bender. That was the last thing Owen needed when he was trying to get home to have some really great sex. “Seriously?” he scoffed, narrowing his eyes angrily at the car that was now in front of him. “You’re just going to cut in and out without signaling or giving anybody any space? Do you think it might be a good idea to make people aware of your intentions before you just start doing things? Idiot could have caused an accident, or worse, killed someone.”

Amelia laughed heartily and rolled her eyes. “That’s pretty rich coming from the guy who, just a few minutes ago,  abruptly threw me over his shoulder. Without my consent, may I add.”

He glanced over at her briefly, smirking. “Actually, Miss Wise-Ass, I beg to differ with your assessment. I made you fully aware of my intentions, but you were being intentionally difficult. And you’re the one who said all she can think about is taking my clothes off. You started this.”

She crossed her arms and turned to look out the passenger window, refusing to make eye contact with him as he gloated. “That’s Dr. Wise-Ass to you,” she muttered.

“My apologies, Doctor,” he said, groaning out her title in that tone of voice he got when he was burying himself inside of her. Despite her attempts at hiding it, he could see the way her cheeks flushed and her thighs clenched together as arousal surged through her body upon hearing the tone of his voice. He smiled and turned back to look at the road, very pleased to have gotten her exactly where he wanted her.

“I’m not sleeping with you. I’m just putting that out there,” Amelia leant against the doorframe while Owen fumbled with the keys, “I do not give in that easily, not after what just transpired between you and Tom.”

Her pent up frustration began to bubble up again when she heard Owen mutter, “We’ll see about that.” The lock clicked as the deadbolt slid free and he pushed open the door, “You’re free to leave, if you please.” His smirk was now more infuriating than ever. “But I don’t think you’d enjoy going home alone anywhere near as much as what I have planned for you in there.”

She rubbed her forehead, head tilted slightly to the side. “Owen…”, Amelia began without having planned out anything else to say.

“I’ll take that as a ‘Yes! Please satisfy my every desire Owen!’ then,” he gleefully announced. Before she could utter a sound, she once again found herself being thrown over Owen’s shoulder.

“What the fuck, Owen?” Her legs squirmed and wriggled in protest, though her giggles gave away her genuine enjoyment of the situation, “Should I just expect to be hanging over your shoulder with my ass in the air for the rest of the evening?”

Owen ignored her. Instead, he pushed the front door closed and paraded through the house and toward the master bedroom. Finally, he put her back down.

Again he took an annoying suggestive step toward her, his face now only centimeters away from hers. “Would you please stop pretending to protest?” He smirked. “It’s just slowing down the process. We both know that we will be naked and in that bed momentarily. So let’s quit wasting time arguing about it like children.” And then he saw it, the flash of dirty in her eyes. The look that made men crumble with arousal. She wasn’t going anywhere.

Her small hands ran up his torso, digging her nails into his skin lightly through the thin material of his shirt. “It’s highly inappropriate for you to compare us having a discussion about sex to arguing about it like children.” Fully aware of the game she was playing, Owen relished in the feeling of her small, nimble fingers exploring every inch of his body. Without hesitation his hands ran down her back and cupped her ass, pulling her body flush against his.

“I’m bored of arguing now,” he whispered as his lips finally made contact with hers. This time, though, Amelia made no attempt to stop him. Her lips sucked on his bottom one before his tongue brushed past her lips and began fighting with hers for dominance. His hands travelled back up to her head, taking control of the kiss. Meanwhile Amelia’s fingers where skilfully unbuckling his belt, unbuttoning his jeans, and pushing them down his thighs.

Breaking the kiss for a split second, her eyes met his before she pushed him back and watched as he fell against the soft mattress. She pulled his jeans off and left them in a crumpled heap on the floor. She took a step toward him, and his arms were quickly around her waist, pulling her on top of him, her crotch resting painfully close to his.

His hand quickly rid her of her shirt while she began unbuttoning his shirt, their lips only parting when necessary. Amelia yelped when all of a sudden Owen flipped them over and began tracing her skin with soft kisses. His lips travelled along her jaw, down her neck - sucking at her most sensitive areas -  over her collarbone, between her breasts and down her stomach. All the while, his fingers worked away at unbuttoning and removing her jeans.

She began to squirm with pleasure under him as his lips teased the hem of her panties while his hands firmly held her in place by her hips, “Owen….” she moaned multiple times, hinting at him to stop teasing and start doing.

He ran his tongue over her through her panties, thoroughly enjoying how turned on she was. Then, without further warning, he pulled her panties down and slipped two fingers in while his tongue began to circle her clit. Every single one of Amelia’s nerve endings was on fire. She had forgotten just how well he knew her body, just how easily he could reduce her to a quivering mess with a few well-placed licks and strokes.

As he picked up his pace, he felt Amelia’s walls begin to contract around his fingers, getting closer and closer to the release that was now the only thing on her mind. He replaced his tongue with his thumb and began trailing his way back up her stomach and chest.

Amelia’s nails dug into his shoulders as she encouraged him to keep going, her lips now on his. As a wave of pleasure rippled through her, she unintentionally bit down on his bottom lip, drawing out a deep, loud moan from the pair of them.

Now desperate for release Owen, without warning, pulled out his fingers and entered her painfully slowly - drawing out sounds from her that only he had ever been able to coax out. Not that she planned on telling him that. His hips began to grind against her, slowly picking up the pace.

Out of the blue, Amelia flipped them so she was now on top. The view he was rewarded with only made him harder inside of her. As she began to rock back and forth, her hips circling against his, his hands grabbed onto the top of her thighs, keeping her in place, matching his tempo to hers.

As he felt her walls begin to contract around him again, he sat up smirking. “I thought I was supposed to be proving to you why I’m the best at this,” he said, a bit breathless from their activities. His lips met hers again, and she did not protest as she permitted him to flip them back over, allowing him to make good on what he’d been promising her all evening.

His hips picked up even more speed as with each thrust he went deeper and deeper. Her nails were digging into the back of his head while her tongue worked against his. Then he felt her entire body begin to spasm, every muscle contracting and relaxing with pleasure.

She was barely able to emit words as his thumb began to circle her clit again.  All she could do was gasp and moan as he pulled wave after wave of pleasure from her. They were both so close to their respective climaxes. Sweating from raw desire and exertion, he felt her walls begin to clench around his hard member. He watched as her body squirmed with pleasure below him, and with one final clenching of her walls she drew out his orgasm.

His face fell into the crook of her neck while her arms were lazily wrapped around his shoulders. Both still too sensitive to move after their respective orgasms, they simply lay there, the sounds of their loud moans still reverberating through their minds.

It was a while before they peeled themselves away from one another. Owen lay on his side facing her, his head propped up against his hand. Amelia, on the other hand, lay on her stomach, her head resting against the pillow her arms were wrapped around.

“I hate you so much right now,” Amelia sighed contently, turning her head to face him. Owen simply smirked and pulled the bed sheet a little higher up her back so she wouldn’t get cold.

His smile never faded as his finger began to delicately trace the length of her spine, “Well, as a particularly annoying neurosurgeon once told me, hate is the most powerful of aphrodisiacs.”

“I will admit that this was great,” she jokingly rolled her eyes in defeat, “but could you please tone down the cockiness? I think it’s quite obvious by now that you won this one.”

“You should see your face,” he inched closer to her, his eyes sparkling with mischief, “there is no way you will be able to hide your ‘I just had mind-blowing sex’ glow.”

“That’s it! I’m getting the rusty scalpel,” she laughed, pulling back the bed sheet slightly and making an effort to get up.

Before she could even swing her legs off the side of the bed, Owen’s strong arms were wrapped around her waist, pulling her back down onto the soft mattress.

“The scalpel can wait,” he chuckled, his eyebrows dancing suggestively while he covered her small frame with his larger one, his hands on either side of her shoulders, allowing him to hover above her. “I think you need to show me just how feisty you are outside of the OR at least one more time”.

Escaping the Danger Zone (Part Two)

Hello! Thank you all so much for reading the first part of this multi-fic, the eagerness to know what happens next makes me very happy that you all are interested in the long but important backstory! So far my favorite part is coming up with flashback ideas and incorporating them into what would be current day, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Here is the second part of “Escaping the Danger Zone,” please enjoy!

Warm sweat slowly dripped down the brunette’s forehead as she sutured multiple stitches into the patient that laid on the wooden table, in a kitchen she had never felt more unsafe in then ever before. In the corner of the room stood the same three mysterious men that requested her surgical skills with assault rifles in their hands. Carefully despite the stress, the female trauma surgeon continued to thread the nylon through the deep wound before her portable radio sounded and familiar voices began to speak.

“Affirmative. Major Amelia Shepherd, missing in action. Over.” The man that was her commanding officer said with his southern accent, broadcasted to warn the entire members of her platoon. Before the next message, there was a brief pause.

“Copy that: Major Amelia Shepherd confirmed to be missing in action. Over” Owen responded in return and then clicked off his portable radio. Even through the speaker, Amelia could sense the heartbreak and anger in the male trauma surgeon’s voice. Her heart broke as she silently wished for a possible way to return to her fellow soldiers but was quickly reminded that she was held against her will when she felt one of the men’s hot breath from behind.

“Sounds like your boyfriend is a little upset. Should we report back to him, Major Amelia Shepherd? Or do you want to remain missing in action and not pay any consequences.” The mysterious man questioned Amelia with an evil tone as he enunciated certain words.

“I could at least inform my co-“ Amelia began to say before she was punched from the left side in her stomach area which made her slightly cough. Seconds later, he punched her once more; causing the brunette to double over from the second powerful blow. Bringing the perfect opportunity for the man to remove the radio from near her chest area and throw the object against the wall making it break and then fall on the floor. He laughed.

“Don’t you ever try and escape, or I will kill you.”

Everywhere his electric blue eyes focused on was multiple doctors from different surgical rankings talking amongst themselves about patient care. The trauma surgeon adjusted his light blue tie as he walked past a group of interns competing who would go to the emergency department to complete scut work. Once arriving in his office Owen turned on the lights and sat down at his desk; in which various paper documents and photographs rested. One of the few photographs was of himself, Megan, Nathan and Amelia; in Iraq sitting in a tent as they enjoyed Thanksgiving years prior to her disappearance. He smiled at the memory before a knock on the wooden door interrupted him.

“Meredith and I are going on a date tonight after her ultrasound appointment; are you free to watch Zola or should I ask around?” The male neurosurgeon asked his friend and chief of surgery, whose attention was now focused on the stack of budget forms to the right of his arm. Owen glanced up at Derek as he sat in one of the two chairs in front of his desk.

“As of right now, there are no upcoming surgeries in my schedule but if one suddenly appears I’ll ask Kepner to cover them that way Zola will have my complete attention tonight.” The trauma surgeon answered the other doctor as he retrieved a giant green binder which included a list of all the surgeons and doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital resting at the bottom of his desk.

Derek stood up from where he was sitting and walked towards the same door he walked through moments prior before and smiled once thanking the redhead. Both men have known each other for such a long time and discovered that when Owen returned from Iraq, that it helped Derek keep the memory alive of his sister, they lost over six years ago at that point.

“No problem.”

Shortly after Derek had left his office, Owen returned to the stack of paperwork but was once more interrupted from another knock at his office. This time was what appeared to be a female military chaplain and a major dressed in a black army service uniform and sealed official hats. Owen confusingly glanced at both the man and woman standing in front of him before they began to speak.

“Are you Major Owen Hunt?” Major William Allen questioned the trauma surgeon as he placed his hands behind his back. Owen nodded his head before verbally agreeing to the man’s question.

“Sir; I am Major William Allen and this is Chaplin Jane Roosevelt; we are with the Army Human Resources Command.” The man continued, causing Owen’s world to suddenly move in slow motion as if he was in the same mental state he was in the same day that his friend disappeared on that dreadful day. Things around him slowly came into focus again after he saw William’s mouth close.

Tears streamed down Owen’s face as he stood in utter disbelief after hearing what the major had told him, he wiped the continuous tears and accepted the major’s request before he turned the lights in his office off and shut the door behind him. Anxiety built inside of the trauma surgeon as he followed behind, worrying if the brunette’s older brother was informed or if the other members of her family received the news. Once making it to the vehicle the trauma surgeon was escorted by military officials; he removed the phone from his pocket and dialed a familiar number.

“Derek, they found her. They found Amelia.” Owen frantically told Derek just a short hour after speaking to him in person. The older neurosurgeon didn’t utter a word, causing the other line to be silent.

“What do you mean they found her? Hunt; it’s been six years. Amy has been dead for six years.”

Hours had passed until they arrived at their destination and the night was present, the drive was silent but exactly what Owen needed in attempts to process the heavy information he had been given. Lights of the unknown but giant hospital building had enough lights on to light the entire city, but choosing to ignore that; the trauma surgeon followed inside with the three officers who escorted him. Once they left the elevator, they made their way down a long hallway of the intermediate care unit and gave Owen privacy as he opened the hospital door where a kind nurse was at bedside.

“You must be Owen, it’s so nice to meet you. I am Whitney,.” The nurse said to the trauma surgeon as she shook his hand and smiled at him before she returned to reading the monitors while he began to sit down in the chair near the left side of the bed.

“Major Allen and Chaplin Roosevelt informed me that you and Amelia go way back; and you fought in the Iraq war together. Thank you very much for your service Major Hunt.”

Owen nodded his head and watched on, also appreciative for Whitney making him feel welcomed in the room. The woman sensed the trauma surgeon’s anxiousness.

“They found her about fourteen hours ago in a ditch; apparently. Pretty much ever since she got here; the poor girl has been sleeping but this is the longest she’s been asleep because of constant nightmares. She’s definitely a fighter.” Whitney told Owen, after hearing her last sentence caused silent tears to fall out of his eyes again. Tears of happiness that his best friend was in his view again, tears of sadness for hearing she was having nightmares and tears of confusion.

“I-I know I am a doctor but uh, how bad is it?”

“I am going to be honest with you, Dr. Hunt. It’s gonna be a long recovery and she will have many sleepless nights and be in a lot of pain but she will survive this. If she can survive six years captured, she can for sure beat this.” With that the nurse left the room and checked Amelia’s monitors once more. Once she had left, Owen silently moved his seat closer to Amelia and took notice of her face. Expecting to find bruises he was shocked to find there were none, only the drastic paleness to her skin and sunken in complexion. The brunette’s eyes were closed and she was away from the war but Owen knew a war was very present in her mind. Amelia opened her eyes and saw Owen, the brunette smiled the sight.

“Hi stranger.”

“Hi” The trauma replied back in a laughter tone when he saw the surprise smile on her face.

Thank you so much for reading the second part!

Love Runs in The Family

Hello again! Thank you again for the lovely support on my most recent fics, it always makes me so happy that so many people still enjoy reading what I have to write. This is the requested second part of “Strength Runs in the Family,” Thank you to the anon that requested it, I loved writing this longer than expected part. Please enjoy!

Silence remained in the air as a radiant orange glow slowly made its way through the cream colored curtains, which caused the brunette to gradually open her tired sky blue eyes. Amelia watched her husband in the chair near her bedside as he was fast asleep and equally as tired but filled with an incredible amount of gratitude, since the early arrival of their baby girl. Moments after watching him for a while Owen opened his eyes to find Amelia watching him with the softest of smiles on her face.

“Hey,” Owen quietly said to Amelia before he smiled. The two watched each other and felt more in love than ever before. Amelia responded back in a whisper tone to the trauma surgeon before he glanced at the bassinet that sat in front of the hospital bed where their little girl slept.

“She is so perfect.” The neurosurgeon tearfully told Owen before she wiped the stray tear that fell from her right eye.

”I knew she would. Mainly because she looks as beautiful as her mother.” Owen cheerfully said to Amelia, which caused her to become even more emotional than she already was from the remainder of her hormones. The brunette gave her husband a serious look that was meant for him to stop, but he had no plans in doing so. Never in his life did he meet or love a woman as much as he did with Amelia.

The ginger walked over to the bassinet and carefully lifted his small daughter into his muscular arms before shifting his eyes down to look at her small features. He softly pointed with his rounded pointer finger for her tiny pinkish toned fingers to grab onto, once she did the couple smiled.

“Maggie called while you were asleep last night, she wondered if you would be up to Leo visiting this afternoon, so he can meet Ella?” Owen questioned the brunette who smiled instantly once hearing the small boy’s name and that he wanted to come into the hospital, to meet his sister, as Owen carefully and gradually sat back down in the chair with Ella still in his arms.

Throughout her entire pregnancy; Amelia had suffered with several highs and lows. Once she had gotten over the initial fear of being pregnant with her rainbow baby after Christopher, she was hospitalized for several days due to low blood pressure along with anemia and was anxious the whole time causing her to regularly going to a therapist most days. But two things that always made the brunette the happiest were Owen and Leo.

“He’s gonna be so excited.”

Hours had passed and the afternoon had settled in. The brunette laid on the not so comfortable bed that she had made her home for the past several days as she rested her tired eyes while Ella remained in the bassinet, with a floral onesie underneath the pink hospital blanket in the silent hospital room, Amelia heard a soft knock on the door.

“Hey Mama, can we come in?” Owen asked in the sweetest of voices with Leo high in his arms. The small boy wore a light blue shirt reading “Best Big Brother” and army green camouflage shorts with perfectly rolled white socks and his little converse covering his small feet. Upon entering the wooden door, Owen set Leo on the chair he was sitting in earlier that morning and placed the pink car seat on the floor near a huge window. The trauma surgeon walked over to the bassinet before he held the baby girl.

“Hello my sweet Ella. Are you ready to meet your big brother?” Ella cooed at her father’s comment, causing Owen to smile widely. He gently placed the girl into Amelia’s arms and kissed both of them moments before lifting Leo back in his arms to sit on the bed next to the brunette. Once the small boy became comfortable; Amelia hugged and kissed him.

“Hi baby! I missed you so much! Did you have fun with Aunt Maggie?” Amelia questioned her son as he looked up at her with the most innocent and beautiful hazel eyes. He nodded his head and smiled, broadcasting his little but growing teeth inside of his mouth.

“Yea! And we, and we mades you muffins! Buberry!” Leo exclaimed to his mama who he loved and missed very much over the past several days as she spent time in the hospital. His aunt had patiently explained to him that instead of his mommy and daddy saving the people and fixing their mistakes at the hospital, they were going to welcome his little sister that was resting in mommy’s tummy. The small boy caught on quickly that they would eventually be home and decided that when they did get home, their favorite kind of muffins would be a delicious treat. Leo watched Ella yawn and then slightly smile, signifying she was content. Before shifting Ella towards the front of her Amelia asked if Leo washed his hands, Owen told her yes and then continued.

“Okay baby; are you ready to hold her?” Once nodding his head in agreement; Leo ever so carefully lifted his hands to be guided by both his mother and father who gingerly placed Ella into his arms. Establishing trust in the small boy Owen and Amelia watched on; they felt proud of their now oldest child. The two smiled at one another as they watched their dream unfold right in front of their eyes.

“Look at how perfect she is, Mama! I love her so much!” Leo said as he held onto her tiny fingers and emphasizing on “so”, causing all the built up tears in the brunette’s sky blue irises to stream freely down her face. If someone were to tell her months or even years after Christopher’s birth that she would live to see this moment, she would be in complete disbelief. And she had Owen to thank for allowing the silent dream to become reality. Noticing that his wife was crying, the trauma surgeon reached over and kissed her passionately on the lips, he tasted her wet tears but wiped them away only to be replaced with more. He was in awe of his soulmate, and the woman who made his dream of children come true.

A knock sounded on the door of the room causing all three Hunts to glance up, the pediatric surgeon made his way inside along with the blonde.

“Don’t mean to break up this beautiful family moment but are you ready to go home, Amelia?” Alex questioned his friends’ and colleagues, once seeing Leo, he smiled.

“But I thought that we were set to go home tomorrow? Is everything okay?” Amelia panickly asked both Arizona and Alex, shifting her eyes back and forth.

Arizona walked over to the brunette and placed her hand on her arm and smiled widely.

“Amelia, this is a good thing! Ella is perfectly healthy and you are recovering faster than we all expected, this is a great thing!” The blonde surgeon cheerfully said after sensing the anxiousness. Arizona had been one of the seven people in the whole hospital that never made Amelia’s feelings invalid or unworthy of concern, deeming that they were her “Seattle people” and the ones she trusted most when coming to them with her anxiety. Owen, Alex, Arizona, April, Richard and Maggie meant so much to her, each in different ways.

“Oh, oh. Yeah, we’re ready.” The brunette embarrassingly said and shyly smiled, after her anxiousness washed away as she was reassured and felt the comforting touch on her shoulder of her husband. Alex and Arizona nodded and were on their way to inform the discharge nurse on the status. Once the doctors left Amelia sighed a sigh of relief and looked up at Owen.

“I’m sorry, it’s just the last time I left the hospital; he didn’t come home.”

“I know, I love you and I am so proud of you..” Owen not so silently told Amelia who was watching her two children who peacefully but joyfully “play” with one another, to avoid potential tears being shed. Once hearing his sentence end the neurosurgeon glanced back up to be greeted with Owen near her face.

“I love you too.” She said before reciprocating his kiss.

“So, who is ready to go home?” The man questioned his family as he smiled and looked on proudly. Amelia rose her hand followed by Leo to mimic her action, which caused the toddler to hold onto his little sister’s hand and raise it.

The home hidden in the smaller suburbs of Seattle remained awake as now all four members of the Hunt household resided. In their somewhat spacious bathroom was Owen with Leo, who was covered in white bubbles and toys scattered throughout the entire tub, and in their living area was Amelia as she breastfed and afterwards snuggled Ella. Through the baby monitor resting on the coffee table Amelia heard her two boys talking with one another.

“Are all babies as beautiful as Ella, Dada?” Leo questioned his father with the most innocent of tones. From the living room the brunette’s heart swelled with love and smiled widely as she imagined the redhead’s same smile.

Thank you so much for reading!

Mr. Whiskerson

I had the idea of this story one day talking to my lovely friend @bluebelle18 as we joked about how Owen would be with a cat. (Everyone that knows me, knows I love cats). I remember I said: I will write this story. And so I did.

It is a fluffy, funny one-shot about domestic Omelia in the Where We Land universe, a few years into the future. Hope you have fun reading!

{Amelia} Guess what Eleanor brought home!

Amelia’s message in the middle of the afternoon got me puzzled. She was at home with the kids this afternoon after the daycare asked to take Ethan home because of a light fever.  Autumn had started and with it the flu season.

{me} What?

I type quickly, before heading to another trauma room. Eleanor was staying at kindergarten a few days a week and often would bring fun abstracts arts she did at school, which all of them are now hanging in our fridge or framed in her bedroom wall.

{Amelia} Just promise you won’t be mad

All I Want is You

Chapter Two

Owen sighed when he heard the doorbell. He knew who it was and if he was being honest with himself, he didn’t want to see Amelia right now. He didn’t want to see anyone really, but she was bringing his son home, so of course he was going to answer the door. When he pulled the door open, Amelia stood there, Leo in her arms fast asleep. She had her rain coat draped over him while the rain soaked through her clothes. It was just another rainy night in Seattle; nothing new, but Owen suddenly felt bad that he hadn’t packed Leo’s little rain coat that morning. It had been a nice day, so he didn’t think he’d need it. Owen stepped aside to let her in and closed the door behind her.

“Here, I’ll take him.” Owen said softly and offered to take him from her arms.

Amelia took a step back and shook her head slightly. “No way. I can lay him down.” She said softly. “I’ll be right back.” She said as she walked out of the room.

When she came back a few minutes later, Owen was almost one hundred percent sure she was just going to grab her keys and go, but the way she stood there, dripping wet from the downpour of rain, he knew she had something to say about the day’s events.

“Let me get you a towel…” Owen started.

“You don’t have to..”

“I don’t want you catching a cold. Or pneumonia. I’ll be right back.” He said before he walked away.

Amelia took a deep breath and wrapped her arms around herself as she stood there behind the couch. Her whole body was trembling from the cold, but she was stubborn. She didn’t want a towel. She wanted to talk to Owen about what happened that day; about what he had been thinking. She knew he didn’t want to talk about it, but Amelia needed to know. She was a fixer, and this was something that had to be fixed.

“I just remembered you still have clothes here… well.. pants at least. I found a pair of your sweats in the dresser, if you want to change.” Owen said softly as he walked back into the room. “I also threw in one of my old Army t-shirts. I know how much you love those.” He said without realizing it. “I, um… if you don’t want–”

“It’s fine.” Amelia interrupted as she took the clothes from his hands. “Thank you.” She whispered softly. “I’ll, uh.. I’ll be back.” She said before she went to the bathroom to change her clothes. As she stood there, looking at her reflection in the mirror, Amelia couldn’t believe what she was doing. She was there, at her ex-husband’s house, trying to figure out what had possessed him to punch out the man she had been sleeping with for the past few weeks. As crazy as that sounded…. Amelia needed to know. Owen had said something about protecting the things he loved. What did that mean? He had never said anything like that to her before. ‘I love you‘s didn’t come naturally to them. They didn’t say it. Amelia never thought it needed to be said. It was implied, but that was as far as they ever got. Did he mean to say that to her? Was that what he meant? Did he love her? After everything they’d put each other through? Amelia sighed as she looked down at his Army T-shirt. She did love those things. They were so comfortable and they always smelled like him. She missed wearing them to bed every night.

After she was changed, Amelia put her wet clothes in the laundry before she stepped back into the living room. She walked over and sat down on the couch beside him, curling her legs up underneath her. Amelia looked at him, expecting him to say something to her about what happened. When he didn’t, she sighed. “Owen…–”

“Amelia. Please.” He interrupted. “I said what I had to say about the whole thing earlier. I really don’t want to talk about it.” He told her. “I shouldn’t have punched the guy, I know that. I just…” Owen sighed, shaking his head. “The way he was talking about you… like you were some kind of animal.. I didn’t like it. And I didn’t think before I reacted. I’m sorry.” He said.

Amelia looked at him, waiting for him to continue, but he didn’t say anything else. He looked genuinely upset, and Amelia knew he felt bad about what he’d done. “I didn’t do it to hurt you.” She said softly, looking down at her hands. “It’s easier.. being with him is… fun. And.. there’s no baggage, no feelings. No strings.” She said, glancing at him. She knew he was upset and she wasn’t trying to make it worse; she just wanted to explain herself as best as she could. “I took the easy path. For once in my life… I took the easy path.” She whispered. “I don’t know what this means… for us. For either of us. But, I do need to ask you a question.” She said as she looked at him. “And I want an honest answer. Can you do that?”

Owen sighed as he looked into her eyes. He nodded slightly and took in a deep breath as he waited for her to speak again.

Amelia took in a deep breath as well, knowing that she wasn’t fully prepared for the answer that Owen was about to give her to the question she had to ask him. It could go either way, and she was terrified of both answers. She didn’t know how she was going to react when she heard what he had to say, and that scared her. As she let out the breath she’d been holding, she looked up into his eyes again. “Earlier today, you told me you protect the things you love. And that that was all you were doing when you hit him…” She said softly. “I.. I know we’re not… the kind of people to say…” She sighed. “I just… I need to know..–”

“I love you.” Owen said, his voice interrupting her rambling. When she went silent, he looked at her, a little afraid of what her reaction might be. She was quiet; just staring at him in shock. Like she had never heard those words in her life. From anyone. He knew she wasn’t the kind of person to just blurt it out like that, or even say it in a normal conversation, but, he felt like he needed to tell her. Because it was the truth. It was the truth and she needed to hear it. Whether she felt the same way or not. She needed to know how he felt. Owen let out a soft breath and looked down at his hands. Amelia still hadn’t said anything yet. “I didn’t want to say anything. I didn’t want to tell you, because I know you’re not that type of person. But, I do know that you are capable of love. Of giving it and receiving it. And I wanted you to know how I felt. How I still feel.” He said softly. “I love you, Amelia… I love… everything about you. I didn’t know how to tell you because neither of us have said it before and.. I didn’t know if you knew. I know I treated you badly. I know I was a jackass to you, and you didn’t deserve that. But, I have loved you… for four years. And nothing that we’ve gone through has made me stop loving you. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, Amelia. As cheesy as that is… it’s the truth. I’ve never stopped loving you and I never will stop.” He whispered. “You don’t have to feel the same way. If you’re… if you’re happy with him….” He took a deep breath. “If that’s what you want…. I’ll be okay. I just.. I just needed you to know how I feel.” He said to her. “I love you.”

Amelia let out the breath she didn’t realize she’d been holding and looked down, closing her eyes for just a moment. Did Owen Hunt really just confess his love to her, or was she dreaming? Maybe that was it. Maybe this was all just a dream, and none of it ever happened, and when she woke up, she’d be in her bed, in her room at Meredith’s. When she opened her eyes again and realized that she was still there, still sitting on that couch, Amelia knew it wasn’t a dream. She had to say something, but what? What did she say? This was… this was Owen. Her ex-husband. Her ex… everything. He was her ex. They weren’t together anymore. They didn’t have casual sex anymore. They hardly ever spoke unless she was coming to pick up Leo. They barely even worked together anymore. It was awkward, but in a way, it was nice. Amelia didn’t have to deal with all of that baggage and neither did Owen. But, maybe…

“Amelia.” Owen’s voice brought her back to reality, and when she finally looked up at him, he sighed. “You don’t have to say it back. You don’t even have to feel the same way. You can go… if you want. I’m not expecting you to stay, or… change your mind about anything. I just wanted to get that off of my chest.” He told her. “So,.. if you want to, you can go. Without saying anything. No questions asked.”

Amelia nodded slightly as she looked down at her hands. She was torn. She didn’t know what to do. She didn’t even know what she wanted anymore. This… complicated things. What was she supposed to do? Her feelings for Owen were never going to go away. She had finally come to realize and accept that. But, what about Link? What did she do about him? She still needed to talk to him and see what he thought about what happened. Maybe he wanted to stop this… whatever they were doing. She didn’t even know what to call it anymore. With a sigh, Amelia looked at Owen once more. “I need to figure some things out. I need to talk to Link, and… I’ll talk to Bailey about the whole thing.. I just need this cleared up. I… I don’t want anyone fighting over me.” She said, her voice soft. “I, um… I’m gonna go, though…” She whispered before she stood up. She grabbed her wet shoes and her car keys and walked towards the door. The rain was so loud, they could both hear it from inside, and Owen wasn’t sure she should be driving in it. Even if it was just back to Meredith’s. He stood up and walked to the door just as she opened it. The rain was worse now than it was when she pulled up and she knew she’d get drenched again before she even got to her car. Amelia jumped as a loud crack of thunder filled the night sky. When the door closed in front of her, Amelia turned around and looked up at the man standing behind her.

“You’re not going out in this.” Owen said softly. “It’s too dangerous. You can stay here tonight.” He told her. “I’ll take the couch–”

“No. It’s fine. I’ll take the couch.” She said, then she sighed. “Thank you.” She said softly before she set her shoes down by the door.

Owen nodded and took a deep breath. “If you want to shower… feel free. You know where everything is. I’m just going to go to bed.” He said. “Good night.”

Amelia nodded as she ran her hand through her wet hair. “Good night..” She said softly. She needed a shower, but she didn’t want to go in there if he was going to bed, so she’d just wait until morning to take it. After Owen walked out of the room, Amelia sighed and sat down on the couch. She grabbed a pillow from the chair next to her and laid down, staring up at the ceiling as she thought about what to do. She knew she needed to talk to Link. That was a given. But, how was she supposed to choose? How was she supposed to decide what she wanted to do with her life in just a matter of days? It was scary. Sure, she loved Leo like he was her own, but this arrangement was working out perfectly. She and Owen were getting along and Leo was happy to see her every time she came to pick him up. Amelia had been down this road before. Not exactly in this situation, but she had been at the point where she and Owen were falling in love again. Where all she wanted was to be with him, because he was her best friend. He was her rock. He was there for her at times when no one else was, but Amelia knew that they also argued a lot when they were together. They fought like cats and dogs and she didn’t know how to stop it. She didn’t want to do that again. She didn’t want to put herself through that again. Or Owen. Or Leo. Leo needed stability and right now he had that. She didn’t want to threaten that. She just needed time to think about what she really wanted to do. She couldn’t decide too quickly because it could quite possibly ruin her life.
