I had the absolute pleasure of drawing Traysi and some koroks for @goddesszine! I learned a lot while working on this piece and had a blast! The zine has lots of wonderful pieces as part of its collection so I implore you to pick it up when it becomes available and check it out!

A piece I did for the @goddesszine, which was a project that focused on the various ladies of the Zelda franchise!

I focused on Jana and Gleema from Breath of the Wild. For a game with so many NPCs, I was really enchanted by their dynamic as sisters, and loved the personality injected by the darner subquests.

(For those who don’t know, older sister Jana is terrified of bugs, but younger sister Gleema is obsessed with darners. Since Gleema’s birthday is coming up, Jana contracts Link to go hunt down the bugs in her stead, as a gift for her little sister, despite her general terror.)

Here’s a step-by-step look at the painting process of my piece for @goddesszine!

1. Rough sketch, and I mean the most scribblescrabble rough line sketch ever.

2. Color blocking/ rough first paint to get the mood across.

3. Finalize background and map out characters again. I felt the first pass was too cramped and I wanted the spring to look bigger.

4. Character flats and begin rendering the water.

5. Adjust character positions and continue rendering.

6. Finish rendering, color correct, add overlay layers. This is my favorite part: adding all the ✨sparkles✨

I know digital painting can be scary and complicated, so I’m glad I have these pictures to remind myself to approach art making one step at a time. I hope you find this helpful!

You can get a print of this piece in my print shop.

An undercurrent of panic runs through Gerudo Town as their once-guardian, the beast Vah Naboris, thrashes their desert with sandstorms and lightning, threatening any who approach with certain death. Few beyond the town know much of Vah Naboris or its rage, meaning information on it is valuable currency.

It’s publicity and a pay day bundled in one. And Traysi plans on cashing in.

I’m excited to share a piece I wrote for @goddesszine, a fanzine celebrating the female characters of the Legend of Zelda series. This short story is about a day in the life of Irene from A Link Between Worlds, and it features charming illustrations by the magical @lehlatte! You can check out the story on AO3 (here) and download a free copy of the zine (here).
