its official: tumblr is selling our data to Midjourney

we'd been hearing rumors about this for a bit but now its open and out there. some details from this article

it goes without saying, but if @staff goes through with this its going to be an utter shitshow and im all but certain the website will not survive it.

everyone go enable this immediately. it can be a bit hard to find because visibility is under blog settings instead of general settings or privacy. you have to do this individually for each separate side-blog

if you can’t find it on the app then the update probably hasn’t rolled out to you, and you’ll have to go through the web browser. truly, what a wild way to implement this

before i had gotten close with ex-catholics i was under the assumption that "catholic guilt" was mostly about sex, or serious topics.

but i was naïve. it's apparently about every positive experience. enjoying a meal? you're so lucky, children are starving. spending your day off cosy in bed? wow, so selfish, homeless people are freezing to death.

every former or present catholic i've met has a very obvious anxiety disorder and it's so painfully not a coincidence.

i said it was my favorite piece of media that i’ve hyperfixated on since the tender age of 12 and have not let go of since. i didnt say it was a Good piece of media

“what do you like about it so much?” the fact that it cocooned me like a tender wool blanket during my vulnerable teenage years. next question

Okay, so, uh, bad, uh, bad news. Bad bad news, we took the kid out of the Omelas hole, yeah. And it turns out that the reason that the utopia was contingent on keeping the kid suffering in the Omelas hole, is that, well, this is pretty awkward to say out loud, but it turns out that the kid really enjoyed suffering in the hole. He specifically enjoyed suffering, in holes and only suffering in holes. Yeah it was actually secretly one of those Aesop's about how utopia will inevitably be dependent on our ability to accept and accommodate lifestyle choices we don't understand. I mean he hasn't said anything, he's clearly trying to be gracious about it, but he's trying the sailing and horseriding and all the other boilerplate utopia shit and you can tell he's kind of just going through the motions, you can tell he really wants to be back in the hole, suffering. He's really hashing the vibe and now everyone is pissed at us

And the other thing is that it turns out that the Omelas Hole was kind of a dog-heaven-squirrel-heaven containment measure against people who can't be fulfilled unless they're causing children to suffer in holes. So those guys are loose amongst the general populace now and it's kind of a Morlocks-amongst-the-Eloi situation. I mean we sprung the kid and in thirty seconds flat they'd made it topside and organized a school system. It was fascinating, it was like watching carpenter ants working in unison. So that's also a whole thing

Altogether not our best work I do not think

They are doing this because Biden and the democrats PASSED A LAW capping insulin at $35. This isn't voluntary out of the goodness of their hearts. Democrats need to start being loud about their accomplishments on behalf of the American people.

The problem with Evil is that it is very LOUD and SCARY...so it gets all the attention.

The problem with Good is that it tends to be very quiet and soothing...so it often passes unnoticed.

We need to be LOUDER about our GOOD ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

We see it regularly over here from mobile phone providers.

Whenever the EU regulations about controls on roaming charges, data prices etc., change in the users' (our!) favour, every associated phone company announcement invariably read as though they thought of it independently, and are introducing the reduced charge / data price cap / whatever as a generous gift to their customers.

Whoopee.

But the (whatever) is now in place, and that's what counts. :->
