I was thinking about the 5 year anniversary video and

it is interesting to me how Patton kind of decided for Logan what his role in the "family" would be. all the other sides chose it themselves, but he didn't get to.

even when he actively objects it's played for laughs and never addressed. this happened too when Patton revealed his name for him, and I just think it's interesting to note that after all these years, Logan still never gets to decide anything when it comes to Thomas, or even himself, to an extent. it's just kind of decided for him and he is expected to just go along with it, similar to how it was when Thomas dyed his hair.

ik it's mainly a "haha wine mom" moment, but that doesn't take away from how angsty it gets when you think about it.

ACTUALLY WHY ARE YOU EVEN BOOKBINDING FANFICTION TO SELL?!?!?!

In all seriousness though, authors on AO3 have begun to pull their works off of the site to avoid getting sued by people stealing their works to make a pretty bound book for profit. Entire accounts could be shut down as well.

Listen, I’m all for saving favorite works by printing them out and putting them in a binder, or learning how to make a bookbound copy yourself and/or assembling one with a pre-made and purchased fancy binding for a fanfic FOR YOURSELF or AS A GIFT to someone, but making bindings with and putting fanfiction in it TO SELL is where I draw the line.

Literally the entire point of AO3 is that you can read it FOR FREE.

It is DISRESPECTFUL for people to make money off of hardbound copies because guess what, the original creators of these fics get nothing. We are literally only writing fanfiction for our own pleasure.

Buying and selling book-bound fanfiction is also ILLEGAL YOU DUMB SHITS. People who are selling content while claiming to be a book binder is a misconception of their services. Book binders make the covers and all that, not the actual content of the book. Selling fanfiction is also an immediate violation of copyright law / Creative Commons licenses. The original fan work will get erased from the internet.

Fanfiction is already a legal grey zone since they are works being written about are protected by copyright. Copyright holders can in fact go after writers as well as the person who sold the fanfiction.

This also goes for people who steal fanart and, claim it as theirs, and put a price on it.

Don’t make it worse.

rest assured, we can still write our fanfics and make our art.

Buying a binding for you to assemble onto your own fanfiction or fanfiction you printed for PERSONAL USE is fine.

HOWEVER,

Bookbinding fanfiction for profit is literally ruining things for everyone. DON’T.

@nerdy-emo-royal-dad Hey sure ^^ I think it's more of a headcanon than an actual theory. But basically, it says that Thomas is so lonely that he made the sides up to have someone to talk to. And during all those years, he pushed himself so much into this fantasy that he rather believes that the sides are real than to accept that there is no one in his life. I have seen it via some really cool Edits on TikTok, I can send you one or two. It often uses Joan's line "I hope you didn't do this thing that you sometimes do, where you freak out and stand in the middle of your living room and talk to yourself for 20 minutes" often, which just fits perfectly. plus in WTIT, where Thomas exclaims that he is all alone fuels this HC Also, all the times the sides say they are a "figment of his imagination" which makes sense in the figurative way, but we never see it from the ACTUAL meaning. All of this reminded me a lot of "Pill for Insanity" (which all of you readers should seriously take a look at) And then I thought: "All of this is like a darker alternate ending where Thomas was ACTUALLY insane. Like- Why would Thomas suddenly believe that the sides are real? Just because the medication is working and the sides say that they are real? Isn't that what hallucinations would always tell the patient?" I find this headcanon so interesting. Imagine how dark the series would be if, at the end of the series, it turns out that Thomas really WAS imagining all of it.

Ya know what'd be a cool shot? If at the end of one the episodes the scene unceremoniously cuts to a shot of thomas alone in the living room, continuing the convo as if all the sides were there. But it's just him alone, in the middle of his room, and awkward pauses when the sides should be talking, then thomas replying to nothing.

yeah so they’re not real. they’re all a part of thomas’ imagination. they don’t exist. how does that work, exactly? no one knows, but we just work with it. makes things convenient for us—if they don’t exist, then they don’t have to follow reality, so that’s fun.

wait, so this in-depth fantasy realm is canonical? like, it’s in the same universe as the show itself? yep. so is this hyper-realistic slice-of-life. so is this one where nothing is real and the mind is just a void. so is this one where you can die. but also you can’t. how does that make sense? listen buddy, when you’re metaphysical, nothing makes sense
