i can't get over how evil it is that "gap in your resume" is considered a valid reason to not hire someone like "hmmm sorry you weren't working constantly every day of your life we need people who do nothing but work until they drop dead for us we just don't think you're right for the job" fuck youuuu
I got grilled during an interview about why I couldn't keep working while Martin had terminal cancer. "You could have worked during the day and the hospital would look after him. Why didn't you do this?" The tone was so smug and filled with gotcha! snark. I opened my mouth to say it doesn't work that way. Then I just said, "Thank you. I'm out. I'm no longer interested in this position." Then I left. That was my first experience with this kind of closed mindset. It no longer surprises me and my resume gap gives me a lot of information about the employer. My current job has zero issue with my "time off". They asked me questions about it but from a position of how they could improve their policies to provide better support for their employees.

You know what I love? When characters are almost unconscious, but not quite.
Slumped over, a complete ragdoll in the others’ hands, but alert enough to groan softly at different sensations, eyes hooded and glazed, just wide enough to gather a blurry image of their surroundings. Though they’re dizzy and their limbs feel like lead, they gain comfort in the others’ touch, unconsciously leaning into them, eyelids fluttering in hazy relief at the soothing, concerned gestures.
