The little speech Izzy gives here? This is gaslighting.

That word gets used a lot, and its meaning seems to have drifted to something like "someone saying something I disagree with." But its original meaning was telling someone things they knew were false to make them doubt themself.

So let's take it one line at a time, right?

Well first of all, Izzy was the one who first went after Stede because he thought he was an easy target. And when Ed wanted Izzy to follow him Izzy literally said, "I honestly don't think he's worth your time," and then whined like a child when Ed told him to invite him aboard personally. Hardly "no questions asked."

Well, Izzy, if you're in charge, wasn't that your fault that those men died? Either you're the one keeping everything together, or it's not your fault when raids go poorly. You can't have it both ways.

He hasn't even remotely followed Ed's every whim! He didn't mention Blackbeard's name to Stede, and then he lied to Ed about it. He is, at the very moment he's giving this little speech, completely not managing Ed's mood, which is actually quite good (and we see no real evidence that Ed even has erratic moods, I think Izzy made that up). And Ed might not know this, but Izzy called him "half-insane" to Fang and Ivan, sowing doubt about Ed's judgment rather than reassuring them about it.

Ed knows this is all bullshit, because he just says it sounds stressful, then tells Izzy that Stede is Blackbeard. He's not really falling for Izzy's shit.

But that doesn't mean Izzy isn't handing it to him. Just because it didn't work doesn't mean it wasn't gaslighting. Izzy was trying to manipulate Ed into behaving the way Izzy wanted him to. It didn't work on Ed, but if you think Izzy is some sort of overworked, overstressed middle-management type just trying to hold everything together, I think it worked on you.
