Hey all, bet you’re tired of hearing from me once a year lmao
Alright, but onto something semi-serious.
I’ve been taking some consideration into giving the Queen something of a reboot. I haven’t decided yet if it’ll be a soft or a hard reboot just yet, but it’s most likely going to happen.
I’ve honestly loved how much fun I’ve had here since I first started this blog. I met amazing people--made good friends, met my wife here, and to be perfectly honest, I don’t know what might have happened to me if I didn’t have this blog to give me the stepping stones to pull myself up. I was in a very dark part of my life when I first introduced the Queen to tumblr, and there’s not a moment that goes by that I don’t cherish everything that came from making this blog. (Funny enough, it actually started out as a joke that I never imagined anyone would like!)
That said, I’ve tried numerous times to pick up where I left off on here, but unfortunately, it seems something happens to derail those plans at every corner. With that in mind, I think that’s a pretty good sign that it’s time for something to change. There are parts of the Queen’s story that, now that I’ve had experience and time to reflect, I’ve been wishing I could change. Characters that were once integral to her tale are now either gone from the community, or no longer a part of my life. Some are even painful for me to think about, but so vital to her story that they’d be impossible to remove WITHOUT a rewrite.
So, I think I’ll be spending my time doing just that. I don’t know yet how in depth it will be, but for those of you who have stuck around with me all these years, I hope you’ll come to enjoy what I have in store.
Thanks so much to those who’ve read this to the end, and for being with me for so long! I’ll be sure to update here once things have been set in motion. This blog won’t be going away--too many good memories to let it go completely--but it will likely be archived in favor of a fresh start. I hope you’ll join me!
“wh…”
“Okay…okay.” She laughs and hides her face for a moment.
“Pfft sorry–uh, that’s great! I’ll uhhh–call you later?”
“Haha, yes! I think I’ll be free over the weekend, so...” She was actually a little excited, all things considered. The Queen had been cooped up in her kingdom for months now, and she was eager to get back out again.
“Well, anyway...I hope you’ll stick around to have a bit of fun, for now?”
Her being so nice about this somehow makes it even worse.
“That would be nice…”
“About Willow…I just want you to know I never intended to go down that road with her. Things just kinda…Developed, over time. Obviously I feel bad about it, but, well- I gotta be honest. You were gone for a really long time, and seeing how you and I shouldn’t have been together in the first place…It made sense to not put life on hold anymore. Because we did, for some time. And while I feel bad about this, I can’t say I regret it. I’m very happy with Willow, happier than I’ve been in years. I finally feel like my life is going somewhere again, and- Well, the point is this wasn’t some fling I had, just to hurt you.”
“That being said, I wouldn’t have asked you to be with me to begin with hadn’t it been for that love spell cast by one of your subjects…Were you aware of that? It sounds like the worst made-up excuse ever, but you gotta believe me. I’ve always cared for you as a friend, but nothing more. I don’t think it’s fair to say this’ relationship’ we had is entirely on me.”
She carefully pressed a finger to his lips, hoping to quiet him for just a moment.
“Goodness...”
“Have I ever mentioned that you worry too much? Aelis told me everything, which is why it’s so easy for me to forgive. We...didn’t have a normal kind of relationship, so it really doesn’t bother me as much as you’d think.”
“I called you here because...because I wanted you to know I’m not upset. I don’t want to go through the song and dance of either of us trying to defend who’s right and who’s wrong, because I don’t think it really matters. We’ve been through more than most anyone else has, and our situation is so much different, that the usual outcomes don’t apply to us. So why can’t we move on? I’m having a baby, and I want them to know the people who are most important to me...”
