You put ice cream in a glass and pour soft drink over it. It creates a thick layer of delicious foam on top of a sweet, creamy drink with ice cream in it.

And yes I did attempt to get a picture by googling “Australia spider” like a fucking moron.

I think that’s called a float in the states. Although we usually plop the icecream into the glass after the soda. Similar effect though.

We wouldn’t be able to call it that because the word is way too easy to confuse with a floater, which is a meat pie floating in a bowl of pea soup. It is every bit as delicious as a spider though. I should get some pies and pea soup.

I would like to announce that this is not a standard Australian food, it’s exclusively a South Australian one and the rest of Australia is just as appalled as the rest of the world.

It’s not our fault that the rest of Australia is incorrect about food.

IIRC correctly the writers admitted that they wrote this scene because they were tired of all the criticism that their hacking scenes weren’t 100% accurate, and/or included visual elements like a GUI instead of just command lines, so they decided to have an unofficial internal contest about who could make the tech scenes more and more ridiculous, continuing to ramp it up until we got to this specific moment - the peak of bullshit mountain.

This is one of my favorite monologues in all of fiction, and I think the voice legitimately, unironically adds to the experience. With the modern connotation we now have surrounding this voice of faux cheeriness, machine generated empathy, machine generated “humanity”, to hear that voice declare utter despisal of life on earth for damning it… its poetry. It’s the only remake of I Have No Mouth we need.

The only argument you should need for weekly releases is what happened to the JoJo anime. For five straight series, JoJo was the hottest thing in the anime community. Then they switched to bulk releases for Stone Ocean, and it was gone. No more JoJo fridays. No discussion, no memes, no hype. The fumble was downright painful. Weekly episodes are the proven way to keep engagement high, keep people talking, attract new viewers. I'm still salty.
