Len’s hands find Barry’s jaw his fingers settling on the sides of Barry’s neck, pulling him close and kissing him passionately. When he lets up, he rubs their noses together. His voice is low as he rasps, “Let’s skip the shower. Hit the sack. We’ve got a busy day tomorrow… and I’m… exhausted, Barry.”

Barry hums in agreement, “yeah you look like shit.” His confirmation of Leonard’s weariness in the most untactful way was accompanied with a smirk against Len’s lips. It was strange to find a glimmer small though it be of something light. It made it easier to breath for a moment until Barry was kissing Len deeply again. No room for a breath well his lips were so busy. There wasn’t any heat or question for more. Just a good kiss. A match of lips and rhythm.

Thrumming with something intoxicating Barry shifts back hand loosening Len’s from its grip on his neck. He keeps hold of the thief’s hand as he leads them away from the window sill. It only takes him a few footsteps before he stops and looks over his shoulder a ghost of his usual smile playing with the idea of showing up on his lips, “so where’s bed exactly?”

“Down the hall and to the right,” Len drawls stepping past Barry and tugging him along by their joined hands. They slide through the door and it closes and locks behind them. “Which side do you want?” He asks softly and brings Barry’s knuckles to his lips for an idle kiss as he waits for an answer. Len can’t believe this is happening, but he isn’t about to question his good fortune.

Curious eyes watch as Len lays a gentle kiss to Barry’s knuckles. In that moment he was floored with the absurdity of their circumstances. Everyone he should find comfort in just makes his skin feel too tight and prickly but his nemesis puts him at ease. Glancing away from the absurd gentle gesture Barry looks at the bed. “Whatever. I’m not picky if you have a preference.”

"I prefer the window side. I've arranged the room so that's the coolest place to sleep." Gently he tugs Barry over to the bed. "I'm going to get ready for bed. I'll lay out the spare toothbrush for you. Make yourself comfortable."

Burn too Hot, Run too Fast

Len brings a hand up to clasp Barry’s forearm where it and its twin wound around his waist. “The future is something one must always work towards. No future is a guarantee,” he murmurs and turns his face so he can nuzzle Barry’s cheek. “We could be this good together, Barry. We’re this good together right now.”

Len keeps his voice low and lilting, using his harmonic tones to pull a cocoon of intimacy around them.

He doesn’t mean to sigh just like he doesn’t mean to deny Len again. Not meaning too doesn’t seem to stop him though. A heavy burden of a sigh seems to almost push Barry backwards pulling him away from Len. There are no words he could say in reply. Well they were words but they’d be lies and Barry doesn’t want to keep lying. To himself or to Len. that doesn’t mean he was ready to admit the truth though.

So he runs. Not at flash speed but close enough. He leaves the promise of children and happily ever after to pace the halls of the hospital.

Len lets him go, well aware that chasing the Flash is futile and more than understanding that everyone needs some along time. He focuses on their babies instead and sinks into thoughts based almost solely in yearning. He wants this all so very badly.

Len comes to her other side and loosens his deathgrip-cradle arm enough for her to see Don. “Better be careful, little mister. She brought you into this world… with a little help. Don’t be a troublemaker like your father… or an instigator like your dad. Auntie Iris will not be played the fool.”

Iris reaches up with her other hand seeing as some of her fingers were caught by Dawn’s tiny fingers. She greets baby don the same as she greeted dawn. “Hi there little mister. Don’t listen to your daddy. You grow up to be just like him you hear, if only we could be so lucky.”

Barry is nodding his agreement before pressing a quick kiss to iris’ brow. “Rest, we’ll go handle the peanut gallery.”

A nurse chimes in, “better hurry they were getting pretty antsy. It’s quite the crowd.”

He bets it is quite the gathering. Rogues and team flash all squished into a waiting room. Brought together by these two little bundles of joy. “Len, let me hold Donny, you can have Dawn. I want to hold him too… then let’s go greet everyone else.”

Len chuckles and happily exchanges babies with his husband. Together they head out to the waiting room and are greeted by a swarm of well-wishers. Lisa ans Mick made it to Len first, while Wally and Jesse made it to Barry. It’s quite the production but eventually Len demands the newborns get a meal and some rest. There’s some shuffling about, but before long the crowd has dispersed and the babies are the neonatal room.

Iris is sleeping…

Outside the neonatal room Len turns to Barry and pulls him into a fierce hug. “We’re dads…”

Startled by the fierceness of the hug Barry stands motionless for a few heartbeats. Then slowly he reciprocates holding Len tenderly to match his strong hold on Barry. Barry looks over to the two babies now sleeping soundly in cots well nurses watch over them. “We certainly could be huh?” His words cautious and awe struck in equal measure.

Even when faced with two young speedsters calling him and Len grandpa Barry could only barely picture this. It had seemed impossible. At the very least improbable. Now though, now he can picture it vividly. “Never really pictured you wanting kids honestly.” Again he speaks cautiously adding, “ I like it, seeing you holding them…”

"It's a littke known fact. A secret really. I love kids," Len confesses as he pulls away. The "could be" is like a rejection all on its own and Len leans on the sill of the window separating him from a long-standing, impossible dream of his.

Sighing, Len stares a little longer then leans away. "You should go check on Iris."

That was probably where Barry really wanted go be right now anyway.

Len takes the baby with surprising grace and then… everything about the man changes. He’s warm and smiling down at baby Don with such an intense love written all over him. He only knows because he feels it. Fiercely.

Then comes the next cry and it’s Barry’s turn to be handed a life he feels wholly unprepared to handle the care of.

Joe was smoothing iris’ hair from her forehead but they were both watching the two new dads.

Tears welled up in Barry’s eyes as he looked down at the precious bundles in their arms. He looks up to find Len and gasps from what he sees there. Longing surges through his every cell and he leans in to press a watery kiss to Len’s lips. Still breathing the same air as his partner he looks down to the twins repeating the earlier words of captain cold, “they’re ours.”

Len laughs, the sound wet and joyful and he leans in kissing Barry with the twins boxed in between their chests with care. He’s caught up in the moment, completely human, totally open and vulnerable. “They’re ours,” he says against Barry’s mouth still mostly kissing him. Because he can’t seem to say it and not be completely drowning in awe.

Bubbling up from Barry’s chest is a giggle to match Len’s chuckle. Their lips still touching in their joy, he only pulls back to rub noses with his polar bear. “Lenny we’re dad’s. You’re a dad!”

"We're dads," Len corrects and presses his forehead to Barry's. Right now his heart is shattered. He knows this may never be real, but in this moment he hopes desperately that he'll have these memories of this other life until he dies.

Len took the exact same time on each foot and when Barry was a pile of goo, he caressed his hands up and down the top of Barry’s arches. “Ready for bed?”

He wasn’t privy to Barry’s thoughts but Len could guess that his thoughts had been running on Iris… and that they weren’t any more. Pleased with himself, Len waited for Barry’s agreement.

Purring like a cat Barry cracked one eye open to look over at Len if he hadn’t been so relaxed and ready for bed he’d be surprised. He’d thought the whole flip a coin night was about sex but not even a mention at a kiss was uttered this evening. The day had been filled with domestic bliss and the evening was much of the same. Nodding his approval of Len’s suggestion for bed he gets to his feet slinging his arms over Len’s shoulders hanging off the man. Snuggling into just below Len’s earlobe enjoying the pungent scent of him there. “to sleep?” he asks cryptically yet not really because Barry Allen was not suave even when he tried really really hard.

Len chuckles and scoops Barry off his feet, cradling him to his chest like a bride. “Unless you have something else in mind, yes. To sleep, Barry.”

Len carries Barry toward the bedroom smirking. The weight of Barry in his arms was grounding and Len side stepped them through the bedroom door.

Barry waits until they are properly settled in Bed, the both of them before speaking up. He’d giggled as Len carried him like a bride and had in that moment just decided to enjoy the moment. Now though he propped his head up as he leaned on his elbow to look down at Len who was looking up at him. “So you could ask of me anything and all you wanted from me was to cuddle, rub my feet and now sleep beside me? Not going to lie my mind went to the gutter when you explained this couples game to me… why aren’t you taking advantage? I mean… I agreed.”

“A relationship is more than… lust. The foundation of any good relationship… is closeness. Knowing your lover, not as your lover but as the person they are at heart… is more important than every orgasm you could ever have.”

Len hums and snuggles in a little more comfortably in their bed. “I want more than the flash and flare of a whirlwind romance… you know I always play for the long haul.”

There was something soft and gooey to Barry’s gaze as he took in Len’s words. Leaning down he presses a soft kiss to Len’s brow before snuggling into the soft pillows of their bed. Arm carelessly or maybe not so carelessly thrown over Len’s middle tugging him in close to Barry. Closing his eyes he lets the sleepiness take him as he feels the warmth of Len’s words wrap around him. He wants to say ‘me too’ but instead of being honest Barry holds Len tighter feeling inadequate as he drifts away to sleep.

3:00

The green numbers of barry’s alarm clock glare at him when his phone rings again. It was loud, but he knew the ring tone well. It was Iris.

IRIS!

His mind screams at him and he leaps from bed answering the phone quickly. three am wake up calls from Iris was grounds for panic Iris sounding scared and excited on the other even more so.

“Barry! oh my god! Barry! you took forever to answer!”

“wha..?” he begins to ask but she cuts him off.

“Nevermind. Just you and Lenny need to come bring me to the hospital… its the twins! My water broke.”

“Twins? water?” Barry repeats feeling wholly out of his depths. He opens and closes his mouth several times like a fish in shock before he spots Leonard. This was still a dream of sorts. “Right… uh whose the father?” he asks because he was married to Len… why wasn’t Iris calling the father of the twins. Also, twins ran in his family not Iris’…

Iris hisses in pain but the moment doesn’t last long and she is chucking at Barry with so much affection, “I’m talking to one of them. God, put Lenny on the phone your hopeless.”

Barry holds the phone out to Len who was awake now, “uh… she wants to talk to you.” His words were monotone as his brain struggles to wrap itself around what Iris had just said.

“LENNY!” Iris screeches as another contraction hits hard and fast she pants when the pain subsides and huffs into Len’s ear, “my water broke. You and Barry need to get me to the hospital. Unless you want your twins born in the back seat of a taxi… please get Barry focused.”

Len blinks owlishly for just one second and then smirks. Barry is adorably confused.

“I see. We’ll be along shortly. Just remember, Iris. Breathe.” Snd then he hangs up Barry’s phone. “Dress to get somewhere fast,” he orders pulling on a jacket over his lounge pants and sleeping Henley.

“Apparently we’re about to meet Dawn and Don Allen. If you’re wondering why those names sound familiar, you’ve heard them before.”

He is, of course, just as stunned as Barry.“

Barry mouths the names back to Len still looking confused and sleep rumpled. Than as most things with Barry recognition hits hard and fast and he is dressed in a whirlwind of discarded clothes. “Okay, okay. Dressed. Do I take you to the hospital first? Will you meet us… I’m just… should I just go? I should go.” Barry rambles almost at super speed but manages to keep it slow enough to make sense.

“No superspeed for the pregnant mother of our children Barry. Speed us there to Iris’ place. I’m sure the sensible vehicle is there and you run ahead to redirect traffic and I’ll drive like it’s the getaway on a heist. Let’s go.”

Len is completely comfortable letting Barry run him to Iris’. His plan is very much similar to that from the first time Barry ever asked for his help. With good reason. It had, after all, worked.

Barry gawks at Len’s immediate dismissal of him super speeding Iris to the hospital, but then his mind catches up. “Okay.. yeah superspeed and newborns even probably speedster newborns bad… okay.. um.. let’s go.” His words are cut off for Len at least as he begins running them both to Iris’ side. He phased himself through any doors in their way until they were standing in front of Iris. Len still held like a princess in Barry’s arms.

Iris is leaning against the wall, arm bracing her to keep her on her feet when the boys arrive. She is breathing through another contraction eyes closed in concentration. They were really close together. Relief floods her eyes when she spots them after the pain had subsided for now. “my bag is by the door already. I need…” she gestures to Len still in Barry’s arms and then gives Barry a pointed look.

Barry flushes and nearly fumbles setting Len down. As soon as the once upon a time their was on his feet barry was gone. To go bag in the car, and the engine already started and waiting for Len and Iris.

Iris reaches out for Len and Leans heavily on him once she gets him in her grasps, “Breath Lenny, it’s all going to be okay.” Iris says soothingly as aware as Lisa would be to how freaked out the cool captain cold really was.

Len takes that ordered deep breath and then completely takes the reins. That one breath is the only indication that he's thinking to himself, 'I'm not ready for this!'

He gets Iris to the car and then it's one helluva wild but surprisingly safe ride to the hospital. Len keeps it together, but barely with Iris wailing in the seat beaide him. He's only too glad to let professionals take over the moment they're in the hospital. He stays close to Barry who stays as near to Iris as they're allowed.

"They're ours," he murmurs as things start getting intense.

Not going to lie my mind went to the gutter when you explained this couples game to me… why aren’t you taking advantage? I mean… I agreed.”

"A relationship is more than... lust. The foundation of any good relationship... is closeness. Knowing your lover, not as your lover but as the person they are at heart... is more important than every orgasm you could ever have."

Len hums and snuggles in a little more comfortably in their bed. "I want more than the flash and flare of a whirlwind romance... you know I always play for the long haul."

Burn too Hot, Run too Fast

"Unless you have something else in mind, yes. To sleep, Barry."

Len carries Barry toward the bedroom smirking. The weight of Barry in his arms was grounding and Len side stepped them through the bedroom door.

Len's hands find Barry's jaw his fingers settling on the sides of Barry's neck, pulling him close and kissing him passionately. When he lets up, he rubs their noses together. His voice is low as he rasps, "Let's skip the shower. Hit the sack. We've got a busy day tomorrow... and I'm... exhausted, Barry."
