people need to understand that some people just don’t like talking it has nothing to do with u so don’t take it personally like some people just aren’t talkers and they’ll probably never text u first or initiate a conversation and it’s not because they don’t like u it’s just that they don’t think to say anything bc they’re comfortable with not saying anything

I was going to propose. Yeah, you were. 

throughout the show, I’ve always wondered why I preferred rafael over michael. don’t get me wrong, I never outright hated michael I even liked him and jane together in the earlier parts of the show. but I was able to understand rafael more bc raf had a life outside of jane. we know all about his family, his fathers hotel, how lusia struggled with her addiction, we know he has abandonment issues and depression. we know how hard he fought to have a family when his own was crumbling at the seams. for five seasons, we’ve watched rafael make terrible mistakes and have real human emotions but we’ve also seen how mature he’s gotten and how much character growth he went through. we’ve seen the good, the bad, and the terrible ugly sides to rafael; he has grown into a well rounded character and I greatly appreciate the writers for showing us all of this. with or without jane, we saw everything going on with rafael bc he is a central part of this story.

but with michael…I feel like they really dropped the ball bc outside of jane, who is he and what does he want in life besides making jane happy? we know he used to be a detective and waay back in s1 he did have a brother but that was short lived when the writers decided to cut that story line. but other than loving jane what else was there to him? and I think this is where ppl have issues with michael bc he’s so one dimensional and hasn’t rly gone through any character growth, we haven’t seen who he was outside of loving jane and wanting to be with her. even when he died, came back, lost his memories, got his memories back still the only thing he wanted or cared about was being with jane again. nothing else. it was a very traumatic experience that was wrongfully taken lightly only to be swept up in some romantic act that is just loving jane and possibly getting the chance to be with her again. I feel like that was his only purpose and it shouldn’t have been. michael just came off as very uninteresting and bland, he got reduced to just a love interest and nothing more, something so many other female characters face in other tv shows only to be killed off later and forgotten about. bottom line, michael doesn’t have much of a story outside of jane and to me as a viewer, rly makes me not care about him when I don’t even know him after all this time watching the show.

with rafael we know the kind of person he is and how hard he’s fought to get to the place he is now and with michael well, we know he loves jane! aand that’s pretty much it. I’m not saying knowing more about the other automatically makes them better for jane, but just gives more perspective on how each guy differs from each other.
