ANNOUNCEMENT: The Pebble Rebels story has (unofficially) come to an end
(I say unofficially because I do plan on making concept art for future story details … just no longer in blog format)
I’m sorry to those of you who waited for new updates since July of 2019. I never meant for the break to take this long. The plan was to take a short break for the weekend of Anime Expo but after that it was hard to get back into the schedule of regular blog updates on a weekly basis. As of now it has been a whole year since the story saw any progress and during that time my life has changed in many areas, most of which would make it hard to commit time for the blog the way I was able to in the past.
When I started this blog in 2016, the Pebble Rebels were just a group of friends with gem characters with the intention of having people ask us questions about our characters and pump out some doodles for fun. Little by little it became more of a story for Apatite and her friends to grow, develop, interact with others, and become heroes in their own way. There were indeed plans to go even further beyond and have the story come to a proper close, but right now it’s not possible to reach that goal anymore.
For all the ideas for character development, plot points to hit, arcs to start and finish, and everything else in between, it brings me a lot of sadness to say that this blog will no longer have updates for the story.
Over the years that I had been running this blog I began to grow my identity as an NSFW artist and it is something that I was finally able to do well with on Patreon, and I would still like to go even further with it while I also improve on my own personal art as well, so I’ll be putting more energy into that for the future.
I’ll also be re-branding myself on all social media platforms from now on. Up until now I’ve been treating this Tumblr page, the Instagram page, and the Twitter page all as the character of Apatite, but it was hard to see myself as being an NSFW artist since I was more or less “playing a character” so I’ll be going under a new name soon and all the other social media platforms will reflect the change as well. I would do the same for Tumblr but things haven’t exactly been the same around here ever since the big ban … and honestly it feels much easier to get business and share stuff around on Twitter, so all operations will be moved there while other social sites will be used as backup and/or self advertising sites. This blog will still remain open, but no more questions will be answers and no more updates will take place, though fans are always welcome to revisit old chapters of the story whenever they feel like it. (a lot of NSFW stuff is still viewable that Tumblr never got rid of)
For those of you who want to keep up with me as I go through this change in re-branding, keep up with me on Twitter at @Apatite_Blewbs (the name will change soon but hopefully this link still works, if not just message me)
I also want to thank all of you who joined us all on this journey from day 1, to those of you who joined along the way, and even the rest of you who discovered this whole thing recently. It’s been a lot of fun and you’ve all been a big part of my life for the last few years, and I’m very thankful to have improved as an artist the way I have, both SFW and NSFW. Running this blog has given me a great opportunity to practice my writing skills, testing out some ideas, pushing myself with story telling and animation, and lots of other things I probably wouldn’t have had just 4 years ago. You’ve all paved the way for me to become a better artist and make a better future for myself, and for that I thank you all for this journey.
There were even plans to have the story coincide with Steven and the Crystal Gems (I was pretty adamant on having their stories be separate from each other) and somewhere in between SU and SUF I wanted them to finally have that mini crossover, but now that SU has finally come to an end and the Pebble Rebels’ story is where its at, I feel like SU might be over for a long long time before we even reach that point.. and it might also lose the impact I want it to have… which is probably just another signt that its time to move on.
SU will always play a big role in my inspiration despite what everyone thinks about it, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. The show did help me see characters as people with feelings, and how they all deserve to have some emotional catharsis just like all the viewers do, which was a big reason for why I kept working on the story for so long. Even if this blog isn’t getting updated anymore, I promise I’ll still try my best to carry that energy everywhere I go. And to all you creators out there who were inspired by all of this, I hope you do the same too!
From myself, my friends who helped with ideas, and from the Pebble Rebels themselves, we thank you for this experience and we hope you had a good time <3
