Not to be a bitch, but "the body keeps score" must be on the hot therapy buzz words bc I've been seeing it commented on lots of things and had it said to me a couple of times, but never by someone who's place it was to say. I've seen people say it in regard to someone's weight, someone's smoking, me saying the word "faggot", me being slightly self deprecating, etc. And yes, that phrase might be appropriately applied to a few of those situations, but only by a therapist in a therapy setting.
Like good for you that you're going to therapy, but you're supposed to apply it to your life not proselytize your social media facing therapy sessions.
We should always be there for those struggling, but it can be done without dropping a shallow phrase into the conversation and thinking the situation has been fixed. Despite the intent and whether it's true or not, what that phrase does is foster guilt. The receiver should feel guilty for harming their "body". They shouldn't work to get better, they should feel worse because they've been harming themselves.
