“Oh,huh…I suppose you’re right.” Snow White sighed of relief. “Sorry for overthinking this, haha. I’ve just been tired recently I suppose.” She looked behind La Pucelle, before following her from behind. “You take the lead, Sou-chan. I’ll follow.”

"Sou-chan-" La Pucelle thought to himself. Although he told her before to not call him that, he let it go. Like she said, she did have a lot on her mind, and besides, it was almost comforting this time. "I-It's alright, Snow, I can only imagine," he said to her sympathetically. "You deserve to rest, but first, we'll have a nice meal. I know you'll enjoy it."

La Pucelle sat at the top of the tower alone, waiting for Snow White. Before it was always her that was early; she was so eager to do her tasks as a Magical Girl. But ever since the game ended, she was more determined to train with another participant, Ripple. They had recently found a mentor, but La Pucelle chose to stay out of it. Still, he waited for her to come and tell him all about her training. It was strange to him, seeing her become stronger and less softhearted, but he was proud of her nonetheless.

“Ah, sorry I’m late…” Snow White replied, out of breath. She had a tiny pouch slung to her waist, and a little fluffy rabbit’s foot attached to her clothing as well. “For the first time in forever, I feel like I’m…I’m…actually useful for once.” She was most certainly exhausted, as she shakily sat down right next to La Pucelle.

“Useful? Snow White…you’ve never been useless. You’ve always been so valuable to me…” La Pucelle quickly turned away. “As a very good friend, of course. But you’re even stronger now. Look at you, you can feel it, can’t you?” He turned back to Snow White.. “You’ve changed a lot, but I’m proud of you. And…you’ll always be my same, kind and wonderful friend, Koyuki.” He smiled widely, noticing her tired face and posture. “Oh, uh…how was the training? You’ve been working hard with Ripple, haven’t you? And how’s your new mentor?”

“Aw, thank you. I’m happy to hear that from you.” SNow White smilled at La Pucelle. “Training’s fine, Ripple doesn’t hold back! But this is for the best…I want to help others, and if I want to do that I’ll take things into my own hands.” She replied, before pausing for a bit at the second question. “Oh, you mean Pythie? She’s great! But I haven’t seen her around recently…oh well. Did you want to get something to eat today? I’ll pay since you’ve been such a good friend to me.”

“Thank you, Snow, but you don’t need to do that,” La Pucelle told her gratefully. “But we can get dinner together anyway, I barely ate anything! And I’m sure you must be hungry as well, after all your work? You can tell me all about how you’re doing with the training, too!”

“Even while being in my magical girl body, I still feel the need to eat sometimes. Sure, I’d like to talk with you over dinner then. Your pick!” Snow White smiled at La Pucelle with an exhausted look on her face, happy to get some private time with her friend.

“Oh, okay,” La Pucelle replied happily. “I was going to offer you the selection, since you worked so hard…but I do know of a good ramen shop I’m sure you’d love. I go there a lot after my soccer games, their ramen is delicious and refreshing.” Even though he prioritized Magical Girls over basically everything recently, he still had a bit of time to practice his favorite sport. “It’s only about five minutes away if we go there in Magical Girl form,” he said, pointing in the direction where the shop was. “Shall we go?” He jumped off the tower, landing perfectly having done it so many times, and waited for Snow White to follow.

“W-Wait, are we gonna go in the shop in our magical girl outfits!?” Snow White asked. It wouldn’t be that much a problem if they wore those outfits to the shop because people would just assume it’s cosplay, but…it was still embarassing for her!

"Oh, don't worry, we can transform behind a nearby building. But it's much quicker if we stay transformed to get there, isn't it?" La Pucelle reassured, upon seeing Snow White's expression. He was beyond proud and honored to be a magical girl, but he couldn't help but share the same embarassed feeling, especially due to his gender swap during transformation. "Besides, we've both gotten a lot faster and stealthier, and it's late, so I'm sure we won't be caught on the way."

It was for a brief moment that Snow White had a smile on her face, hearing her friend somewhat be okay, albeit being an illusion nonetheless. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll…I’ll make sure whoever did this to you won’t do any of these atrocious acts anymore.”

“Oh…thank you…Snow White,” he said, smiling back. But wasn’t he supposed to be her knight? It was his promise. Although, she had gained incredible strength, more than he or anyone else he knew once had. Still, a vow was a vow, and he was nothing if not loyal, and true to his word. “But…I want to help you…if I can. Please, like I promised you back then, at the tower…I will always be your knight, even when you’re not the one who needs saving.”

“You may attempt to assist me, but know that you are artificial and at any point you may be used against me, and I may be forced to harm you once more.” She gave a heavy sigh, before forming a smile on her. “But, I would not refuse a help from a friend.”

"Against you? Snow, you know I wouldn't-" He stopped, knowing he was wrong. Well, partially wrong. It wasn't the real La Pucelle who fought Snow White...no, but what happened? He paused. The real La Pucelle...well, he was dead, wasn't he? But it feels so real now...when he actually feels normal. Suddenly, he felt power surging through him again. "Doesn't this feel great? You're so strong...so powerful," came the same faint voice. It was right, he did feel amazing. He smiled, taking in all his power. He was strong again now; he could fight anyone, even Clamberry, even...Snow White.

La Pucelle was easily predictable with their area of attack, so it wasn’t a problem for Snow White. It was a problem of shutting the system down. She searched high and low…trying to see if there was a control panel of sorts.

La Pucelle kept swinging uncontrollably, but he realized he wasn’t quite aiming af Snow White; he was always considerably too fast or too slow with his movements. “I don’t understand, I made you so strong and you can’t even do the one thing I brought you here for?! I won’t waste my time trying to give power to such a worthless girl like you,” said a voice in his head. “I’m…trying..!” said the angrier part of him, using his sword now as a lever to jump up in the air, hoping to slice the blade upon Snow White… Suddenly, the anger disappeared, along with his strength. He fell down to the floor, weakly. His mind felt half emptied. “Snow…I didn’t want to fight…”

It was at that moment that Snow White instinctively jumped back towards La Pucelle. Immediately, Snow White rushed towards them with a concerned look on her face. “Sou-chan…Sou-chan….!” She exclaimed, looking down at the collapsed La Pucelle. “…Keek…!”

La Pucelle wasn't used to being called Sou-chan anymore, but he was grateful for it now; the comfort of his friend put him a little at ease, although he was still beyond overwhelmed at the scene. "Keek..? What is...how am I here..? What just happened..." he asked, still lying on the ground. "But...I'm glad you're okay, Koyuki...it's been awhile. And...you've gotten so strong." Even though he couldn't help but be taken back and almost afraid of Snow White's change, he was beyond proud of her growth.

I’m glad you’ve shown your true colors towards me.” With that, Snow White leapt on top of the sword, using it as footing as she tried to attack from above, trying to dive in at La Pucelle with the Ruler halberd.

“Snow, no, don’t do this! Why are you…why am I doing this? Why can’t I stop?!” La Pucelle’s mind was racing, but none of those words came out. “I can win. I will beat her!” came an overwhelmingly powerful voice, drowning the other out. He smiled viciously, stepping swiftly to the side with an impossible speed to dodge her attack. How was he moving so fast? He turned around, and as he enlarged the sword once more, swung it rapidly with all of his enhanced strength, keeping his eyes on the white magical girl.

“It’d be easier if you ceased fighting yourself, but it seems like your creator won’t let you. Allow me to assist with that…it’s the only way I can repay you, friend.” Snow White elusively jumped, backflipping away as she readied the halberd. “Your swings are too large,therefore you leave yourself wide open…” After dodging the previous attack, Snow White tried to sweep with her leg to catch La Pucelle off guard.

Friend? Yes, yes Snow White was his friend, of course. But she didn’t seem like the Snow White he knew. How did she get so strong? Where was the gentle, timid, kind-hearted girl he once knew? He wasn’t paying attention to the fight at hand, and was kicked to the ground by Snow White. “She got so strong…shouldn’t I be proud?” La Pucelle’s small voice said in his mind. And yes, somewhere in his heart, he was very, very proud. But it was overcome by fury. He was enraged by every move and every strength that Snow White had. As he saw Snow ready to attack him on the ground with her halberd, he quickly hit her halberd away with the strength of his sword, getting up to fight once more.

“God…I knew you were strong, but you’re abnormally strong…!” Snow White backflipped away from La Pucelle, taking deep breaths. She listened in towards La Pucelle’s inner thoughts, confirming her suspicions about one thing: mind control. “Right, you’re being manipulated…there’s no way for me to win against you if we keep at this…” Snow White constantly dodged La Pucelle’s attacks, not even bothering retaliating as she searched for a means of shutting the AI’s control down…anything at this point.

"I'm being manipulated?" La Pucelle thought, continuing to swing madly. Snow White kept dodging, and he knew he should be more strategic, but he couldn't even make sense of the situation at hand. How was he supposed to think about strategy? "I just...have to...beat her..." With all this new strength, shouldn't he be able to? "Don't hurt her...please remember..." cried a small voice from inside. It made him madder, and he kept swinging, but she kept dodging. "I can do so much more damage to her, especially now that I'm much stronger. I thought I was trying to kill her...so what's stopping me from giving this fight everything..?"

She was in a cybernetic recreation of her past world thanks to a certain Game Master. She steeled herself, expecting ghosts of the past to show up…and she was right. “Sou-cha…no. La Pucelle. Of course they would use you to communicate with me.”

La Pucelle was dead. But he could open his eyes, and when he did, everything felt real again. What was this place? What had happened to him? He studied his magical self, his surroundings, and everything was real. Then he noticed the magical girl in front of him, his childhood friend Snow White. She had an expression he couldn’t quite read, but he knew it wasn’t a good one. “Snow White? What is this..? Are you…okay? Am I okay?”

“Stop this.” Snow White hesitated a bit, but she did her very best to put on a stoic expression before proceeding to talk. “You’re just data simulated to hinder my task. I apologize if I’ve offended you or if you don’t believe me, but it’s the truth.” She gripped her weapon tightly, watching La Pucelle’s movements.

“I-” What had happened to her? And was she telling the truth..? How could her words seem so true, yet so impossible, at the same time? One thing was for sure, she was not the same gentle, caring friend he once had. Something, and something horrible, must have happened. “I don’t understand…but I will never fight you, Snow White. Whatever this is..I want to be by your side again.”

“If you refuse to fight, then stand down and release me from this person. If…you’re really La Pucelle, then you’d grant me the honor of at least facing reality, right? I’m really sorry if you’re unable to comprehend anything that I’m saying…but I assure you I’m doing the right things. I’m doing what a magical girl should do.” Snow White replied, calming down a bit. There was no point getting overly hostile with an AI that didn’t know much.

"Release you? Snow...I don't know what you're talking about, but I'll always protect you," La Pucelle said while pulling out his sword, remembering his oath to protect her. Suddenly, he heard a whispering voice. "Fight her," it seemed to be saying. Snow White didn't seem to hear. And then, it seemed as if his sword was being lifted for him. But he felt a sudden bloodthirsty, battle-loving feeling, as he enlarged the sword, which he attempted to bring down on Snow White. Although she dodged in time, the sword's impact on the ground was powerful, far more than how it would have been before.
