Blood and Soul: Threads of both Worlds, my Danny Phantom x Kill la Kill crossover fanfic!
The Guys in White have found a new material called Life Fibers and are using them to get rid of the ghosts. Danny and his friends must unravel their mysteries and stop them for good.
Meanwhile, Casper High welcomes two new transfer students from Japan: Ryuko Matoi and Mako Mankanshoko and they didn't come here to discover America...
Right now, the fanfic has five chapters (four if you don't count the prologue/prelude) so have fun looking at it

Haven't seen that much fan art of any of the cast hanging out in a PAX unplugged-like convention since the road trip episode. Plus, you wanted them to hang out after a break so here we go! This is why the Danno cousins get to cosplay by day (and are total jerks to by night).

Tell us more about ascended ancient.
The whole « Ascended Ancient » gimmick first came when I redesigned the main Ancients (Undergrowth, Vortex and Nocturne) and replied to ask about CW and Sojourn months ago.
Long story short, I’ve separated them into two categories: The Chthonics aka « Dead » Gods who settled in the Zone, and the Ascended which are ghosts who reached the GZ equivalent of godhood.
For simplicity’s sake, we’ll take my redesigns along with their new lore to explain it better. Among the main three, only Vortex (renamed Reiki for my redesign) is an Ascended while Undergrowth and Nocturne are Chtonics. (CW is a Chthonic ancient and Sojourn is a mystery because nobody knows where tf we went...)
I’ve developed how Vortex is an oni who managed to steal two divine taikos and pass himself as either Raijin or Fujin for a time until he got slain by both gods. A long time passed between the heist and his death and that was enough for him(along with his god-complex obsession and yokai background) to straight up ascend upon death.
Aside from Vortex’s « Yokai Fastpass », any ghost willing to reach such status must have 2000 years old in ghost existence and a proper ghost realm. There are two main ways to reach it :
- Develop/Learn an unusual and rare power within its core
- Create a complete symbiosis with a divine item after keeping it for a long time(regardless of origins, power, and pros/cons)
When the criteria are met, a ghost will experience a sudden power growth so strong they need to shelter in an isolated place, only to come back as Ascended. None can say what happens exactly but one thing is guaranteed: you are bound to evolve into something truly new!
Pros of being an Ancient include Godlike powers able to affect Reality around you, create servants at will, a new tongue solely based around your existence, and the ability to convince/persuade the world with your presence/aura.
Cons of becoming an Ancient include having the Observants on your ass, being forced to send your servants to deliver messages around the Universe, and having to teach your newly-formed eldritch tongue to those who didn’t go batshit crazy upon seeing you.
I’ll create another post regarding who can reach said status in canon and how Ascended !Danny (or even Vlad if you want it) would look like after reaching such status (even if you got a peek thanks to little baby man)

the greatest generation: (2004-2007) joined the phandom while danny phantom was still airing. posted on forums run by butch hartman. probably interacted with the hartman himself. lived through the truephan/antiphan war.
the silent generation: (2007-2009) joined when the show was cancelled. wanted nothing to do with the truephan/antiphan war. probably joined a “bring back danny phantom” protest. read/wrote fanfiction on wattpad.
baby boomers: (2009-2014) the angst boom. dissection fics were everywhere. ghost speak, ghost hunger, etc were popular. lots and lots of gore art. followed haiju’s phantom of truth.
gen x: (2014-2017) joined around the time “it’s not gay if he’s dead”, wes weston, pink pants, etc. the phandom was still mostly angsty but starting to gain memes. space au and reverse au were popular. beccadrawsstuff’s fankids dominated the nextgen tag.
millenials: (2017-2019) the diddly era. everyone was following diddly-darn-ghost or saw her posts every day on their dash. memes everywhere. has accepted as fact that danny loves guacamole. witnessed the amazing scientific discovery of diddles piddles.
gen z: (2019–) like 40% chance of having even watched the show. phandom events are all you know. likely got impersonated at some point. dennys is only known as a fighting zone. food discourse. bullying lexx.

😅 it was @risayume ’s dp artist server thing/kind of event even tho i think it wasn’t an actual hosted event, where a lot of us got to make (or share already existing) ghostsonas, and then somehow they got into a wii fight at dennys (okay, not somehow, thank you @lisartino 💖)

oh and also they got to celebrate holiday truce together :D
TL DR: I wanted to do a pic with most ghostsonas but it turned into shitpost territory due to one video I discovered during that time. Also, Denny is a place often thought about in the Phandom long before my shitpost
With this, new headcanons came in whether directly with our sonas or with canon ghost encounters. We had so much fun!

With my redesigns, we have 2 types of ancients: Chthonic aka dead gods who settled in the Chaos Realms Zone, and Ascended: souls and spirits reaching godhood by "bonding" with something blessed/cursed for enough time).
Clockwork is already fine as it is to me. If I were to redesign him nonetheless, I would go for a full-time, mechanical god with the Observants resembling Modrons from Dungeons & Dragons with an eldritch twist here and there. CW is the exception to the Chthonic gods as he's the closest to an actual god and only settled in the Zone for its timeless properties.
As for Sojourn, He's an ascended Ancient like my Vortex redesign. Lore-wise, he's a former greek scholar whose quest for knowledge made him insane to the point after reaching Elsewhereness(I will rename that too), he's willing to kill (or worse...) anyone setting foot on his precious, infinite library as the secluded, mad archmage with no remorse he is. Design-wise, he'll be greek-themed mixed with Magnificus if he reached the heart of Tzeentch's impossible fortress.

After a quick sketch of the whole Plant!Sam redesign event ignited by Shea, I went all out and redesigned the Ancients with a short text!
They're huge, godlike ghosts with a strong portfolio and work pretty much like the Chaos Gods from the Warhammer franchise (40k and Fantasy combined)
Undergrowth tends to be my favorite among the 3 and for that, he's the closest to a Warhammer Chaos God to support the whole Dead God of Pangea idea. (I tend to nickname him Plant! Tzeentch)
Vortex is the one with the most changes as he's completely different from the canon design. It's also the one I had the most fun with since his new story paves the way for Yokais to populate the GZ.
Nocturne is the one with the least rework as they already stood out from the other ancients. Aside from their name and objective(and the design obviously), they're the same guy from canon.
