I have the perfect name for the “The PT’s don’t meet Morgana” AU!

Persona 5: GENOCIDE ROUTE

Avatar

Ahaha have I accidentally created an AU? People are asking me about this? Am I a mother now? It was just a piece of meta about how important Morgana is (and also the ethics of murder) and then it became a creative writing project.

Yeah, I guess this is the genocide route of P5, though not exactly by choice. I’m personally partial to what stabbythespaceroomba called it, that being the Murder Thieves AU.

Maybe I should write for it? It might end up copying some themes from another fic of mine, but hell if it isn’t interesting. A good opportunity to really put the Phantom Thieves under the hammer and see what they’re made of.

if you live in the imperial core, you profit directly from the genocide in gaza. yes, even if you are poor. centuries of our comfort and commodities have been bought with the displacement of populations, the manufacture and sale of arms, and the mutual wealth reinforcement of proxies like isr ael. the literal least we can do is offset a little of our privilege by throwing people a few bucks for food and water.

if you can't even quietly nod your head at this concept on the internet, when are you ever going to do anything that counts

I’d never go so far as to speak on someone’s financial situation, but it’s hard to believe that financial burden is the main reason people aren’t donating as little as 5 dollars a day towards Palestinian gofundmes. While I’m 10000% sure that some people do really struggle down to the last dollar, I think a lot are submitting to the bystander effect. “Other people are probably donating” “my 5 dollars won’t change anything” “they can probably do without my pocket change for the day” are all reasons Palestinians aren’t getting as much in funds as they should be. I think that deserves being pointed out without personally insulting those who truly can’t afford to donate—which, of course, is always fine. If you can’t donate, you can’t donate. But if you can and you’re not, that is a problem.

Also you guys can afford to read posts that call people WHO CAN AFFORD TO DONATE out for their passivity—without making it all about yourselves. If it doesn’t apply, let it fly. If it doesn’t apply, let it fly. This should be an unspoken caveat, not something that needs to be pointed out every time a post about donating is made. Like it’s not someone’s job to handhold you because you have no reading comprehension skills. Seeing posts like this as a personal attack is such a gross, almost deliberate misunderstanding of what they’re trying to accomplish. Grow up.

I hope you don’t mind me adding this but I think it also comes down to people feeling overwhelmed by the amount of fundraisers and therefore relying on others. We’re not asking you to donate to every single one, just pick one! Or three! How ever many you’re able to is fine. $5 is really not that much and I guarantee you whatever you give, you will get back. The people of Gaza on the other hand can’t get back what they’ve lost because it’s been destroyed. Don’t let their lives or someone close to them be the next thing they lose. You can go one day without your coffee or your snack or whatever it is, it’s just $5. That’s it, that’s all we ask of you.

Existential despair is so common in a person's twenties, I think, because up until that point, we've had a pretty clear road map for what's expected of us and we haven't had much reason to question that map. There are still a few milestones outlined for us (start a career, get married, make babies) but more and more young people are entering the post-school world and realizing:

A) that career thing just isn't happening like they said it would

B) I'm not ready to get married/I don't want to get married/marriage isn't the sort of life-altering event that it used to be

C) I'm not ready to make babies/I don't want a baby/I can't afford to raise children right now (see point A)

And in the absence of these milestones to shoot for (which one could argue weren't the promise of fulfillment they claimed to be in the first place), what we're left with is this aimless abyss of "the rest of our lives" sprawling out ahead of us with no indication of how it will go or what we should be doing to shape it. Young people start their first jobs, find they hate them, and think to themselves, "Is this it? Am I just supposed to do this job until I'm too old to do it or die first?"

Which is, yeah, really fucking depressing!! So here's my best attempt at an alternate roadmap for young people that don't vibe with the old model. Please feel free to add in your own suggestions!

  1. Learn how you work and what you want out of a job. Unless you've been in a job-specific training program that gives you hands-on experience, your first jobs should be experiments. Learn how a full-time job feels for you, what elements are more or less difficult. Different workplaces have different cultures and expectations - what do you need out of a job environment? Do you need to find fulfillment in your job or is it enough for it to pay the bills and leave you time to find outside fulfillment? Do you want to climb a corporate ladder or are you content to hunker down as long as your bills get paid? This period of experimentation is exhausting and may feel like it's consuming your whole life.
  2. Learn how to make time for things outside of work. Adapting to a full-time work environment often leaves you feeling so drained that you can't do anything but go home and collapse on the couch every day. That's fine - for a little while. But it can also become a habit. You need to learn how to do things after work or you'll go crazy. Go to a trivia night. Start an exercise schedule. Take a class in your community. Find volunteer work. Join a band. You will find that putting more things into your day makes you feel like you have more time, not less.
  3. Find a community. Making friends as an adult can feel impossible. Where do you find these mysterious friends everyone seems to have?? This goes along with #2, though. As you start regularly attending the same activities, you will find that repeat interactions with the same people turn into friendships or at least friendly acquaintances. Say yes to invitations. Get involved in your local community. Strive to be connected enough to bump into people at the grocery store.
  4. Unlearn bad lessons. We all internalize some messed up things when we're growing up. As you start off your adult life, that's the time to actively work at unpacking the things you've brought with you from childhood and deciding which things are helping you and which things are harming you. This might mean therapy or joining a spiritual group or reading new things or just making special time to be in your own head.
  5. Learn the lessons you missed. In this, I mostly mean practical things. "Adulting." Areas of your day-to-day practical life that are causing you extreme stress are probably related to a knowledge or experience gap. Do you hate cooking and cleaning or were you not taught how to do it properly? Are you afraid of making medical appointments or is it just something new you're not used to? Does money make you queasy or do you need to learn how to make a budget?
  6. Find something fulfilling. This can be your job. It can be volunteer work. It can be faith. It can be a hobby. It can be creating things. It can be challenging yourself physically. It can be activism. It can be going for walks in nature. Everyone finds fulfillment in different places. If you're not finding it where you are, look somewhere else.

I'm very tired of this "queer college students should stop supporting Palestine, they'd kill you there!" I watched a hijabi ask a trans man, "but what name do you want to go by?" A butch giving a woman their hoodie so that she could keep her hair covered after the cops took her scarf. Muslim girls making sure the lesbian couple got through the system together. Religious men making sure green haired protestors got out safe. A Palestinian girl with an ex-southern baptist fiance, who definitely isn't a practicing Muslim, whose parents were raising hell for her. I don't want to hear it. Solidarity forever, free Palestine.

Those who tell you your comrade is your enemy work for the real enemy. Do not let them divide you with xenophobia and lies.

also, homophobic people should not be systematically killed for their ethnicity!! yes, solidarity forever, AND Palestinians do not need to demonstrate solidarity with white queer people in order for those white queer people to oppose their genocide.

No, you cannot watch the stupid European singing competition when its allowing the genocidal country that's literally starving millions and blowing up refugees' tents. Like, have some fucking shame.

You ask mfers to give up one aspect of pop culture (award shows, competitions, million dollar events) to put time and care into people of color and suddenly rights are being infringed. Bitch, if you don't get real and donate to an evacuation fund.

From a follower:

Please sign this petition to the Irish government to register the Freedom Flotilla under the Irish flag. You do not need to be an Irish citizen, but if you are, please indicate so in the relevant answer box.

The Freedom Flotilla is carrying tons of humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip. However, the country which had registered the main ship under its flag has inexplicably revoked the registration. The Flotilla is asking for the government of Ireland to register the ship under the Irish flag so that it may legally resume its journey. More information is available at the link, but here is a brief excerpt:

We are calling on the Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan, as a Qualified person under "The Mercantile Marine Act, 1955, as amended by the Merchant Shipping
(Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1998, and Sea-Fisheries and Maritime Jurisdiction Act, 2006" To Register the Freedom Flotilla ships as an Irish ships and allow it to sail to Gaza under the Irish Flag!

the stuff going on at columbia campus rn is genuinely incredible

despite mass arrests by NYPD and several students (including rep ilhan omar’s daughter, isra hirsi) being suspended for their participation and having their university identification deactivated, the gaza solidarity encampment is still going strong well into its second day. def recommend following independent reporter talia jane who is taking part and providing live updates. (talia was the first reporter to break aaron bushnell’s self immolation in february; she was one of the reporters he contacted personally prior to the protest.)

thank you so much alexa @shivsblunt for mentioning it…..anyone who wants to contribute to their jail support fund can do so @ bcabolitioncollective on v*nmo. also, if anyone is in the area and available to join (via cssw4palestine on ig):

I regret to inform you that Discord's new Terms of Service includes an arbitration clause. You can find it here https://discord.com/terms/#16. This clause includes an opt-out, which I have transcribed here:

You can decline this agreement to arbitrate by emailing an opt-out notice to arbitration-opt-out@discord.com within 30 days of April 15, 2024 or when you first register your Discord account, whichever is later; otherwise, you shall be bound to arbitrate disputes in accordance with the terms of these paragraphs. If you opt out of these arbitration provisions, Discord also will not be bound by them.

These clauses are underhanded ways that corporations seek to deprive you of your right to participate in class-action lawsuits and your right to a jury trial. (This does only apply to us users ,other people still spread the word though )

Bad news, @noodelzmop. Arbitration basically means that if you want to sue Discord for whatever reason, the dispute needs to be handled in house. Specifically, in their house. If you don't get this email out, you're basically signing away your right to legal recourse if they do criminally shitty stuff to you, like with the McDonalds app.

I have been told that emailing "I am confirming that as of the date of this email, I am choosing to opt out of binding arbitration to settle disputes with Discord." With the Email you used for your discord account is enough for the notice but take this with a grain of salt as this was not said by a lawyer

reiterating that this only applies to US users

THIRTY DAY LIMIT BTW. I suggest taking sixty seconds to fire off a quick email with op’s recommended text. I have no plans to sue discord but better safe than sorry
