i completely agree. I mean I don't hate him but the way he was written in this season was EXTRA unlikable. He was just a big douchebag all season, what happened to the at least relatively nice Hopper from last season?

tbh i was already starting to get annoyed at him in season 2. i also wouldn’t say i hate him but he just annoyed the shit out of me. or more precisely the tone-deaf writing annoyed the shit out of me.

I honestly think the context is pretty important here. He's a middle-aged small town dude in the eighties. I was surrounded by middle-aged small town dudes in the nineties and compared to that, Hopper's demeanor with the kids is straight up commendable. I'm not his biggest fan either, but I think I can get behind his behavior in that particular scene

i mean i kinda get that, but also it’s 2019 and i’m tired of shows presenting characters like this to me who act like complete assholes and then expect me to root for them regardless. cause i’m not gonna. maybe it’s realistic but they’re trying to make it sympathetic and i just don’t have that kind of energy to expend anymore, sorry.
