Rating: Teen And Up

Three years have gone by since the fall of Naraku - three years since the disappearance of Kagome Higurashi, with hope for her return dwindling as the Bone Eater's Well lies dormant. Things change for a heartsick hanyou as the magical portal suddenly reactivates, but not in connection to modern Tokyo. When strange shinobi from an unfamiliar era come through the well, Inuyasha finds himself with a new fight on his hands, and a new companion at his side. Between heated battles and new fears, will Inuyasha be able to set aside his heartache long enough to see the possibilities for happiness that now stand before him? And with the help of a powerful new ally, will Deidara be able to escape from the shadow of his own dark past? With their lives and hearts on the line, it's all or nothing.

Parallel Play Week 2024 Day 7 - Hot Spring

Deidara hadn't been to many hot springs in his former life - war criminals were probably discouraged as a general rule, and making oneself so vulnerable as a missing-nin isn't particularly wise. Away from his home time - hundreds of years in the past, in fact - Deidara can finally visit hot springs freely with his partner. Inuyasha doesn't quite understand the hype, but he knows Deidara enjoys them, so he makes an effort to squeeze in a trip to a hot spring every couple full moons or so.

Parallel Play Week 2024 Day 6 - Touch-Starved

Neither of them seem like they'd be the cuddliest people when you first meet them, but at the end of a long day, neither Inuyasha nor Deidara want anything more than to curl up with one another in bed and fall asleep in each other's arms. For being a pair of tough-as-nails demon hunters with hot tempers and smart mouths, they're both still very touch-starved, and find it easiest to sleep at night when they're as close as possible.

Parallel Play Week 2024 Day 5 - Roommates

Well they live together, so it's kinda like roommates plus, so I just had to draw something silly and a little domestic. I imagine Deidara subconsciously makes faces when trying to get his extra mouths to make specific shapes, and Inuyasha definitely teases him about it.

Parallel Play Week 2024 Day 4 - Obsession

I wanted to make a joke about how some dogs are obsessed with the scent of Irish Spring soap, and what happens when Deidara accidentally borrows the wrong bar of soap from Kagome's house (turns out it was one of Sota's and he's going through his teenage too-much-body-spray phase). Deidara's about to have one very clingy hanyo on his hands and just about everywhere else.

This is the one piece this week I'm not completely happy with, but they can't all be winners I guess.

Parallel Play Week 2024 Day 3 - Rockstar

Deidara and Inuyasha can be rock stars together. Inuyasha isn't really in full demon mode, Deidara just does his makeup like that before every performance. This is also the one and only time Deidara is allowed to wear fishnets instead of chain mail.

Though I will concede that @courtdraws is fundamentally correct that Deidara would be a drummer, not a bassist, I needed him to play an instrument that would let him pose cool with Inuyasha, so bass it is.

I also based Deidara's bass on my own bass, so that was fun.

Parallel Play Week 2024 Day 2 - Vulnerable

On the night of a new moon, Inuyasha can finally get some sleep knowing he has a strong, capable warrior to keep watch. It takes him a while to become fully comfortable with it - his pride is a big sticking point - but eventually he trusts Deidara to protect him on the nights when he's vulnerable. Meanwhile Deidara doesn't mind pulling an all-nighter once a month (especially since Inuyasha often chooses to stay up with him anyway).

They want you back, I bet.

Well... so do I.

Parallel Play Week 2024

Day 1 - Fairytales

Added a sketch of Sasori as Sybil Reisz per my dear friend @queercodedvillains's request so here you go. One four-armed glitch monster with a homoerotic obsession with Deidara for the Transistor AU.

Happy Valentine's Day

Have a piece of old art I colored and then squirreled away for ages and forgot about.

I'm not dead and neither is this ship. It's just taking me a really long time to get the sequel fic written because there was a lot less to go off.

Now that Pragmagik has finally dropped his video with the final results of his "A Legendary Bird of Every Type" Pokemon design contest, I can finally share my entries to said contest!

I wish I had my original design notes I could just copy paste, but alas, since the channel is closed I guess I didn't save a copy elsewhere.

This is Gladiez! What can I say, I love me a steel type. This one was based on Roman Centurions, cockatoos, Roman tower shields, the gladius sword, and various other parts of Roman armor. The shiny is based also on the black cockatoos that can be found in Australia. I also deemed to give this Pokemon a bit of a Napoleon complex, making it an aggressive war-monger that's awfully small compared to other legendary birds.

Pokedéx Entry: While small, Gladiez is not a Pokémon to be underestimated. It is known to pick fights with Pokémon much larger than it in order to prove its superior might. It intimidates weaker opponents into surrendering by rattling together the sharp, sword-like feathers of its wings. To protect itself from strong attacks, it can bring its sturdy wings together to form a tall shield, which is said by legend to be completely impenetrable. It is said to appear on the eve of great battles, flying over the battlefield and blessing all the combatants that witness it with indomitable courage.

This is Rocatorce! I picked rock because it also felt like something that was counter-intuitive to flying and birds in general. It's based largely on ax-beaked pterosaurs such as Tropeognathus and Coloborhynchus, early flint (and obsidian, in the shiny) axes, and bearded vultures. Since all fossil Pokemon are also rock type, I wanted to lean into the prehistoric elements with this one. I gave it bone adornments, similar to Mandabuzz, since bearded vultures also eat marrow from bones, and bones seemed like a proper accessory for a prehistoric Pokemon. I also gave it a more lizard-like tail, rather than a feathered tail, to evoke more pterosaur. The rusty red and brown colors were another reference to bearded vultures, that roll in clay to get their red feather coloring.

Pokédex Entry: Believed to be a living relic, Rocatorce are older than recorded history. Fossil evidence shows that they flew the same skies as Archeops and Aerodactyl. They are extremely territorial, making their home on the tallest mountain peaks and viciously attacking any intruders. Climbing with its talons, it uses its rock-hard beak to to mine sheer cliffs for precious minerals to eat. It spends hours at a time rubbing its beak against smooth stones to keep it's blade razor sharp.

This is Fluttrece! I wanted to challenge myself tackling bug type first, since it's hard to make non-bug creatures embody the bug type. It's based on hummingbird hawkmoths and peafowl. I wanted to marry the iridescent blue-green shimmer of peacock feathers and the shimmer of green hummingbird hawkmoth scales. I gave it a bright and mesmeric color palette to try and evoke the colors in the eye spots on a peacock's tail and on the wings of some butterflies and moths. I also wanted to evoke some of the colors and shapes in the wings that you see in Madagascan sunset moths.

Pokédex Entry: There have been very few sightings of this Pokémon in history, and its behavior is not well documented. It lives deep in dense rain forests and feeds on nectar, cultivating large, lush gardens that become havens for bug type Pokémon. Its wings shimmer in a multitude of iridescent colors and patterns that it seems to change at will. Because of it's ability to change colors, many researchers and explorers throughout history have made conflicting reports as to its appearance.

good morning! i found one of your InuDei comms in the wild, and it was SUCH a blast from the past i had to drop into your askbox. your InuDei fics left an incredible impression on me, such that i still think about them a whole actual decade later. crackships get left by the wayside a lot, since they aren't "serious", but they are the truest definition of Playing With Barbies and i love them. i love yours!

(my Playing With Barbies ship is Xigbar/Deidara [XigDei], which i write with my sister as a means of keeping in touch and makin' stuff together.)

anyways! your InuDei comm made me light up like the sun, so i wanted to share how much it meant and still means to me. thank you for your time and for sharing InuDei, and i hope you have a really wonderful day! take care!

Bro, you're gonna make me cry. Waking up to this is so wonderful. Like I am so genuinely touched that there are still people out there who remember InuDei from way back in the Deviantart and FFN days. The fact that you even still think about it a decade later is just so mindblowingly sweet to me. InuDei was a crossover ship I started in high school with my best friend, and we wrote it for years before finally falling off with it in favor of other interests. I re-read our first fic back in 2021 I think and got bitten hard by the nostalgia bug and rewrote the first fic and have been working on rewriting the second (I've gotten myself kinda stuck on chapter 10 but I will persevere).

Crossover ships are such a special thing, I think. They really are the purest form of indulgence of the blorbos, and the more I learn about and see other people's crossover ships, the more they really grow on me. What you and your sister have with XigDei is something so special, and you'll treasure it for a lifetime, even if it gets dusty in a box somewhere for a little while.

I will absolutely have a wonderful day now, because this ask has really and truly made it wonderful. 💞 💞 💞

Hi there! Sorry for the random ask, but along with that excellent fishing Deidara art you posted a while ago you mentioned art of another feral blonde guy catching a fish with his mouth? Would you happen to still have that image, just out of curiosity?

Avatar

Actually yeah! He sent it to me in a tumblr message so I just had to scroll a ways to find it.

Shoutout to @nekojirou's great art

His name is Thorfinn, but I'm not familiar with the character or the source material. And the pose was apparently based on this picture, which I also didn't recognize. Hence why the pose I drew was slightly different.

It is entirely possible that I just live under a rock and play with my little blorbos like dolls.
