when i was 8-9, i was playing hide and seek with my sisters (i am the b e s t at that game) at my grandma’s house, and as a last minute decision i decided to hide inside the giant pussywillow in the backyard. i hid in there for at least an hour and only heard my sisters nearby once. another hour or two passed, and i was wondering how they hadnt found me yet, because im not that good, and so i climbed out and went looking for them. it was starting to get dark and when i went inside my grandma was super suprised to see me. she said “how did you get here?” and i said, “ive been hiding in the pussywillow since we started playing hide and seek” and she said “really? because i saw you leave with your sisters.” and i got a wicked chill. she called my mom and she said “she came home with us, how did she get there?” and i told her that i’d been hiding and she said “then who came home with us?” and went to check on me. i wasnt there so she asked my sister “wheres (my name)?” and she said “she was just telling me to come outside with her because she had something to show me but i said no because its dark. she was really mad at me.” and my mom told me after i got home that after my sister had said that she had looked out the window and saw me staring at her with big pale blue eyes.

Tumblr has always been a fierce believer in free speech and the power it gives to the people who wield it. Throughout history, free speech has been the most important tool used to fight for racial and social justice. The protests being held in honor of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery are no different. They are important. They should not be ignored or derided. The disproportionate violence Black people face from those who have power in our country is not acceptable. It’s on all of us, regardless of race, to stand up for what is right, to demand justice, and to demand change.

I think a lot about how wild it must have been for Katara & Sokka to leave their village and suddenly been thrown into.... all of That. within the first few weeks of traveling with the avatar they
* visit a temple that nobody has entered for 112 years
* see their friend ride a gaint sea serpent
* meet and get held hostage by a crazy king. plus riding Omashu's mail system
* break into a prison and orchestrate a mass prison break
* Sokka gets trapped in the spirit world for a day???
* sneak into the fire nation, break into another temple, escape an island as it is being engulfed by a fucking erupting volcano
* steal from pirates, then escape from said pirates
* this happens within the first 9 episodes and I'm not even touching on the madness of being chased by fire nation folks and nearly dying like, every 3 days.
they go from living in a village of 20 people to all That and I wonder, do they know how wild that is? do they just assume this is what the world is like when your not living with your extended family???
i imagine that when they get back to the Southern Water tribe a year later they only mention these stories in passing of like, Katara and Sokka roasting each other for "that one time" while everyone else looks on in thinly concealed awe
Did Sokka and Katara even know about grass?
They signed up for all those strange events the moment they decided to travel on a flying bison with a 112 year old child. They were both so shocked the first episode that nothing fazed them anymore. They’re traveling with the avatar, these things might as well happen.
