“I’ve seen plenty of other Mortys as well: one from the 1880’s, one who’s a giant hunk of crystal, and one who makes guns for a living. That’s only a few of the bunches I’ve met. Though I’ve never met the talking party cup before. Anyways, hi! I know it’s weird seeing a girl Morty, but you’ll get used to it. Hopefully.”
“Yeah I hope so too, I mean... I-I don’t usually tell people this, b-but you’re basically me anyway, r-right? I guess it’s just kinda weird for me s-since I’m trans, y’know? So it’s just... I-It’s just kinda weird to think that any version of myself is actually okay with being a girl, I guess...” He let out a small, nervous laugh as he rubbed anxiously at the back of his neck. He really hoped he didn’t offend her with that. “You’re not really missing out, though. Cup Morty’s- H-He’s pretty weird. But the 1880′s one sounds pretty cool... I mean, the 1880′s looked pretty cool in Back to the Future Part III, anyway.”
❝ Aw. Jeesh Morty I really wish I could help ya. But y’see I can’t do this for you . I’m sorry pal. Rick would kill me if I interfered with anything having to do with you. And well I really don’t want to fuck things up a second time around with him. I’ve already messed up so much that well it’s not even really funny anymore. But yes, to answer your question I am able to assimilate into any living organism. Sorry again champ. I just can’t do this for ya. ❞ The gruff voice came from the male that was sitting on the sidewalk and strumming his guitar softly. Amber sclera scan over the youth’s face some. ❝ Shit, Morty don’t look at me like that. I just can’t do it. Even if I wanted to I would have to assimilate you in order for you to transfer me to your planet. I don’t think you want me to vomit in your mouth. ❞
“Aw, what? C-Come on, SERIOUSLY? Ugh, wh-why does Rick always do this, anyway? He’s always making fun of me for not being prepared f-for all of the shit the multiverse throws at us, but how am supposed to be when he’s always- UGH.” He let out a frustrated sigh, frowning to himself. He took a small breath and paused before continuing. Instinct- or perhaps learned behavior- prompted him to take out his frustration on Unity, but it wasn’t really their fault. It wasn’t really Rick’s either. “Sorry, I just... I-I wish he’d stop babying me, y’know? Or at least- O-Or at least decide if he wants to baby me o-or constantly berate me, b-because it’s really hard to deal with both.”
“Jeez, I’ve met a ton of other versions of myself, b-but girl versions of me are always the weirdest, y’know? I-I-I mean, th-there’s this Morty out there who’s literally- h-he’s literally just a talking party cup, a-and that’s still not as weird to me as girl Morties are, f-for some reason.”
“So you can assimilate a-anyone, right? I-I’m not saying I’m completely okay with that since- I-I dunno... Hanging out with Rick has kinda- I-I think my moral compass is pretty messed up nowadays, so I don’t really know how I feel about it, but...” He trailed off for a moment, losing track of his own thoughts and trying to remember what he was getting at in the first place. “I mean, th-that thing works on humans, too, right? Because there’s this guy at school wh-who... I dunno if I’d really call him a bully, b-but he’s always shoving me into lockers a-and embarrassing me in front of Jessica, so...” Lord, he hoped they understood what he was getting at. He already felt shady enough asking them to absorb Brad into their crazy hivemind as is. He was sinking pretty low with this whole thing, but it wasn’t like he was trying to get someone to kill the guy, right?
“ Good, because I favor staying like this. ”
「His mind is already somewhere else, Joshua preoccupied with his phone. How many times did he have to lend an ear to Players who noticed he could see them. This talk was equal to RG people telling each other that the weather sure was nice today. Which usually took a turn for the worst when they were speaking to an actual weatherman; the source. Which he was, in this case; there was nothing he didn’t knew. Well, maybe he didn’t knew a thing about what lies above the Higher Plane, but that was another matter altogether.」
“ I don’t know you per se. Like ask me about details of your life and I wouldn’t be able to answer. But I can see what you’re made off. Your thoughts are hard to block out as well. They’re equal to cooking a chicken alive, obnoxious and loud and all over the place. I hardly care, my job is to observe and not get involved. ”
What was the point of meeting God at all if he wasn’t even all knowing? Man, Rick was right. The universe sucks. He was right on that whole “God is an asshole” thing, too, now that he thought about it. But all that said, Morty still wasn’t sure if the old man was right about being able to get them out of this whole thing. Wasn’t he always talking about how he couldn’t cure death? Because that’s essentially what they had to do here, and “God” over here wasn’t shaping up to be all that merciful. But at least he seemed to have more answers than Rick did, at the moment.
Despite the other’s snide remarks, Morty wasn’t really offended by what he said. In fact, he did a pretty good job at explaining the boy’s thought process. Anxiety was the universal constant in his mind, and in a way, it was nice to know that someone finally got that.
”S-So you’re some kind of mind reader? Do you think- I-I mean, Could you read my grampa’s thoughts, too? H-He’s always refusing to explain stuff to me c-cuz he thinks I wouldn’t understand anyway, but I just wish he’d give me a chance, y’know?” He paused for a moment, retrieving his emergency portal gun from his pocket to present to the other. “I mean, he barely even taught me how to use this, a-and it’s basically the most important thing we ever use.”
“Morty, it’s not love. I’m just offering you a chance to make a move. If you know what i’m saying.” He laughed while banging his fist down on the edge of the table. “No but seriously, i don’t care what you do. If you’re-you’re planning to make love, i’m not stopping you. It’s worthless right now.”
Love is nothing, but a chemical reaction. He could say that for the second time right now. However, he would rather play with the microwave than repeat himself again. His grandson will not take a hint. No matter what the scientist says, his loved ones will never agree with his statements. There was no point in discouraging him from loving Jessica.
“Science makes atoms. And then we get to the real good stuff. Just envision the good stuff as deserts. What they taught science in class? Those deserts are outdated.” He shrugged his shoulders before shaking his head out of frustration from remembering those mundane days of school.
“Okay, what are you-you stuck on Morty? I could show you the answer.” He raised his eyebrows in anticipation while pointing to his spaceship. “Or, what? Do you want me to write it down?”
”Y-Y’know, I’m getting some- I-I’m getting some pretty mixed signals from you here, R-Rick. I mean, you’re always egging me on to- t-to make a move on girls, but at the same time, a-all you talk about is how meaningless it all is. I think- I-I think you got some real problems, Rick.” He let out a small breath in a mix of frustration and general fatigue. Whenever he thought he was finally starting to figure his grandfather out, stuff like this came up that just confused him even more. Well, the guy was a genius, so maybe someone like Morty would never really be able to understand him. He frowned to himself, trying to push the usual, anxiety angst to the side as he leaned in to point towards the question he was having a problem with.
”It’s this whole thing about how much you would weigh on each of the planets. O-Or each of the planets in our solar system, anyway. Science is hard enough as it is, I-I don’t see why they gotta- wh-why they’re always mixing math into the whole thing.”
“That wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been.” Wendy stared as Eric skipped away and clenched her fists because she knew she couldn’t slap that stupid fucking smirk off his face without getting into trouble with her parents and it drove her crazy. One hard slap across the face and she’d be okay for the rest of the year. Really. “And swearing doesn’t hurt anyone– I don’t understand why parents make such a big deal out of it.”
“I guess, b-but I don’t really think it’s really about that. I think it’s kind of a, like- l-like a social rite of passage, y’know? K-Kinda like some weird, coming of age thing where people don’t want you to use those words until you can use them responsibly, e-except no one really does use them responsibly.” He paused, frowning to himself a bit. This is normally the part in the conversation where Rick would have told him that he was wrong or stupid; point being, he normally got cut off before he rambled on for too long like this.
“S-Sorry, I dunno, that’s- that’s probably- that probably sounds pretty dumb.”
( im v behind on replies and im gonna try to work on them soon but like this for a small starter perhaps!!! i’m very sick and it’s hard for me to work on longer things rn,, i’ll do starters tomorrow probably!!! but dont quote me on that. im. very sick…. )
「Oh bother. Some Player chatting him up out of nowhere was not what he was in the mood for. Originally he had thought it would only be annoying to deal with the kid, but that was before the other had started talking about how he was the god and– did nobody teached the kid that being nosy was considered rude? Kid was brave, he would give him that.」
“ I can look like an old guy if that makes you feel better. ”
「Which was completely feasible, but who wanted to be a gramp when they could be any age? The other didn’t knew anything about that though, wouldn’t get any answers out of Joshua either. The worst part was that– if he was following the rules– he would have to wipe that boy from existence for knowing confidential information. Which he wasn’t in the mood for, so hopefully threatening him would get him to shut up and leave.」
“ You did good those days. It’s sad you waste your second chance at life with talking to me. ”
He frowned a bit at the immediate reply he was given. That really wasn’t the kind of answer he’d been looking for. In fact, it really wasn’t much of an answer at all. Morty just shrugged in reply, trying not to think about it all that much. Being dead wasn’t all that surprising, but it sure was confusing.
“I-I dunno if that would be any better, actually. I-I kinda... My quota on c-crazy old guys is sorta filled with my grampa, y’know?” And if he wasn’t visibly uncomfortable enough already, the rest of what Mr. God over here was saying really made him uneasy. Maybe approaching him had been a bad idea after all. Maybe he should be off with Rick, despite his grandfather reassuring him that ‘he could handle this on his own.’
“W-W-Wait a second, though, do you mean that you, like, know about me? A-And what happened to me a-and stuff? Because I mean-I dunno, I guess that makes sense since y-y-you’re basically God and everything, but why would anyone care about what happened in my life? Rick’s the one that did all of the, y’know- important stuff. I was just kind of... there.”
“Yeah, pretty much. There are plenty of traditional type monks around the temple but me and my friends obviously aren’t. We don’t have quite the same restrictions as they do either.” While she wasn’t sure where Morty was going with it, Kimiko decided to see it through. “You don’t need to join the temple to train-I could always help! I know some stuff myself.” Kimiko puffed out her chest with pride at the statement. “If you’d want to that is.” For a moment, she paused, taking in his other statement. “But if you want to get stronger, you should do it for yourself. You shouldn’t do it to prove it to anyone, especially if they don’t respect you.” With a sigh, she continued. “Have you ever tried telling him off when he talks down to you? If you want to improve yourself, standing up for yourself might be a start.”
Surprisingly enough, for once in his life, he was actually present with a viable answer. It wasn’t quite what he’d been expecting, but it was certainly better than nothing. Much better than nothing, really. Hell, here he had a cute girl offering to personally train him, which was basically every nerd’s dream come true. It was like a date, but better. Or maybe worse, because what if he messed up in front of her? Like messed up really bad and she laughed at him?
Fortunately, he didn’t have much time to think about that in depth before he registered the rest of her answer. Unfortunately, it was because he was instantly frowning at the whole “do it yourself” proposition, and before he knew it, the teenager was reverting to his usual mannerisms, rubbing anxiously at his arm as he avoided meeting Kimiko’s gaze directly.
“I-I dunno, I mean... y-you always see that kinda thing working on movies a-and stuff, but whenever I try to talk to him about it, he usually just says something to make me feel even worse, y’know? A-And if I keep going we usually just wind up fighting, a-and I wouldn’t mind it so much if it actually solved anything, but one of us usually just winds up storming off a-and then we just pretend like it never happened.”
“Aw jeez, that’s some, uh- Th-That’s some pretty h-heavy language coming from, a-a little kid. I mean, I-I’m not saying that other kid didn’t deserve it, it’s just, uh- I-I mean, I’m fifteen, a-and my dad still yells at me when I swear.” Which was kind of dumb, considering how much the rest of his family swore, too, but the inner workings of his father’s mind were always an enigma to Morty. Even more so than Ricks’ sometimes.
