i don't think people understand what it means for israel to not only be categorically continuing its incursion into the south of gaza but to be openly carpet bombing the safe zones it has told gaza residents to flee to while the whole world watches. this is a level of systemic extermination and impunity the likes of which i have never seen before. there have been so many war crimes already committed and so many laws already violated that i genuinely do not know how the world can recover or where it goes from here. israel is killing the so-called rules-based world order. it cannot possibly be louder or clearer than this.

happy hanukkah to those celebrating but particularly to those struggling to celebrate bc of what is being done in their name. u don't have to answer for it but i know it can be hard to reconcile sadness and community, and u r not alone in this. in better times all our celebrations will be unmarred.

I do not understand people who see genocide and say "why won't The World do anything" and "someone please make this stop" but refuse to support armed resistance from Palestinians themselves. I don't understand how you can see the images of IOF gestapo terrorizing, brutalizing, kidnapping, and mass murdering Palestinian children and adults and not thank God that there's an armed Palestinian resistance fighting tooth and nail to destroy the genocidal regime by any means necessary. you want someone to stop this? then support the people who are fighting

its horrid that gazans have to post their private, painful moments of saying farewell to their dead families. its so fucking terrible they have to post it online instead of being allowed privacy - and all so that the west can see their suffering because it doesnt even believe them. and even when they show it openly, the west still lies and fabricates lies and fake narratives. they literally have to humanize themselves. what the fuck. how does this not fill you with anger

that comment about how you should not borrow grief from the future has saved me multiple times from spiraling into an inescapable state of anxiety. like every time i find myself thinking about how something in the future could go wrong i remember that comment and i think to myself: well i never know, it might get better. it might not even happen the way i think it will and if it does happen and it is sad and bad ill be sad about it then, when it happens. and it’s somehow soo freeing

in light of a four day ceasefire in Gaza being agreed upon, i am once again asking you all not to lose sight of the big picture. Biden and the Israeli Government are trying to frame this as a major democratic victory and as a favor respectively. they have no intention of a total ceasefire. they have no intention of stopping their genocide. remember - a ceasefire is the very first step. it’s not even the bare minimum.

the absolute bare minimum in this situation is 1) a complete ceasefire and immediate humanitarian aid in Gaza, 2) complete halt of all military foreign aid to the Israeli government, 3) the Israeli government being prosecuted for its war crimes in the International Criminal Court, and 4) land back and reparations for the Palestinian people. free Palestine means free Palestine, not just temporarily stop carpet bombing Palestine.

a temporary ceasefire is something, but it’s not even close to the end goal. we cannot let up pressure when things seem to be looking up. keep protesting, boycotting, spreading awareness, contacting politicians, etcetera. keep your eyes on Gaza. free Palestine.

The idea has been circulating that northern Gaza is empty after a massive evacuation yesterday, but this is not true. There are still around 800,000 people in northern Gaza, and they are now facing increasing bombardment and starvation, with decreasing media coverage.

Most journalists who were in north Gaza have evacuated to the south, and that includes most or all of the best-known, English-speaking journalists with the highest follower counts. They are trying to share information from northern Gaza, but they already have a catastrophic situation to document in the south.

There are a few journalists and other social media users still in northern Gaza, but their accounts have a smaller following and they mostly post in Arabic, so the English-speaking world is not circulating their updates. These people have chosen to remain in extreme danger in order to document the ongoing atrocities in northern Gaza, but are receiving very little engagement with their content.

I will post the journalists and other Instagram users in north Gaza of whom I am aware. Please follow with them and engage with their content, so that the world doesn’t let Israel carry out genocide in northern Gaza in silence.

I will post Instagram usernames with links to their profiles, as well as provide their names if I can, as well as some details about who they are, from where in north Gaza they are posting, and details about what they’re saying. This is not a complete list, and there are a few people in this list who may not be in north Gaza, but I can’t distinguish their location and they’re sharing content from north Gaza. I apologize in advance for any and all errors I have made and will fix or update them as they appear to me.

Journalists and other people posting from north Gaza as of Saturday November 11th:

abomoaaz23 (Mostafa Abu Mouath, journalist, Al Shifa Hospital)

wadeaa_.9 (Wadea Abu Alsaoud, journalist, Al Shifa Hospital)

nooh.xp (Nooh Al Shaghnobi)

ferasalajrami (Feras Al Ajrami, journalist)

almajd_free (Mahmoud Abusalama, journalist, around Indonesian Hospital)

abdullahobead (Abdullah Ebead, journalist, Indonesian Hospital, was nearly killed with some of his colleagues today when they stepped out of the hospital to check on the neighborhood around them. Israel sees their press jackets and targets them. His last livestream had only about 130 viewers and he described being shot at, and some people having to eat cardboard because they are completely out of food and have no way to get more.)

anasjamal44 (Anas Al Sharif, journalist, Indonesian Hospital)

saleemaburass (Saleem Z Aburas, relief coordinator for Palestine Red Crescent society, located at Al Quds Hospital and reporting tanks and snipers surrounding the premises, killing anyone who moves, even to try to treat the wounded. They are out of water, food, and electricity.)

ezz.lulu (Ezedeen Lulu, medical student volunteering at Al Shifa, one of the few medical staff to remain at Al Shifa to treat patients.)

hossam_shbat (Hossam Shbat, journalist, Indonesian Hospital)

sami_tabak_2 (Sami Abu Tabak)

fadi_alwhidi (Fadi Alwhidi, photographer, Indonesian Hospital/Jabaliya, managed to go to the market earlier today with hundreds of other Gazans but they all had to flee after Israel began shelling the area)

abd.sabbah (Abed Alqadr Sabaah, photographer and videographer)

najjart_1 (Tamer Mazen, engineering researcher and trainer)

m_abuowda11 (Momina Abu Owda, photographer)

ahmed.hamdan8 (Ahmed Hamdan, journalist, Indonesian Hospital)

fuad.kh.ps_ (Fuad Abu Khamash, journalist and photographer)

hassan_zaqout00 (Hassan Zaqout, artist and medical professional at Al Shifa)

princekouta (Medical professional at Al Shifa, one of the last to stay behind to care for the injured. Reports Al Shifa is surrounded on all sides and no one can go in or out, bring anything in or out, or treat anyone outside the hospital, as Israel shoots at anyone who tries. Reports that many were killed or injured inside the hospital after an oxygen line exploded due to bombardment.)

mohanned_rayyen96 (Mohanned Rayyen, journalist, Jabalia)

abood0_8 (Abood Abo Salama, photographer, Indonesian Hospital)

abo_khaled_4u (Mohammed Saber Arab, journalist, Indonesian Hospital)

i keep thinking about how we're just watching the exact plan israel has outlined proceed unimpeded by anything at all and how it has rebranded 'ethnic cleansing' into 'humanitarian corridor' even though there are still hundreds of thousands of disabled, homeless, elderly, brave, courageous gazans still in the north and east of gaza where the israeli military is now pointing snipers at convoys of people exiting a hospital waving white flags and even people inside an icu

i think recognizing it as a genocide made people accept that everyone in gaza is already dead and that terrifies me more than anything else. from day 1 it has been clear that israel (which has loudly proclaimed genocidal intent), zionists (who have loudly declared genocidal intent) and the united states (which is loudly suppressing everyone who calls it a genocide) have accepted this as a price

eleven thousand people have died but there are still people in gaza are still alive. there are millions in gaza still alive. we are in the midst of a genocide. its not a foregone conclusion that it ends in ethnic cleansing or mass death, it is a choice people are making every single minute and every single second, and we have to remind them of it every single minute and every single second that passes

"doesnt israel have a right to exist too??" well its an apartheid ethnostate so no

"what about the people dont the PEOPLE have a right to exist??" yes! they do! however, they do not have a right to an apartheid ethnostate

"what about the holocaust survivors in israel dont they-" yes they have a right to exist too, however surviving one genocide does not give you the right to commit another, nor does it give you the right to an apartheid ethnostate

As always, the Irish speak nothing but facts.

How many more innocent civilians have to be killed by Israel before you condemn that for it?

That is a genocide.

That this is a crime on all accounts.

And deserves to be punished to the full extent off the law.

just to be completely clear, the amount of military power and political influence Israel has has NOTHING to do with its settlers being Jewish. Israel is a force for American & European interests in the region and they're just doing what America does and allows/encourages its close allies to do.

war crimes aren't considered war crimes when someone America finds useful is doing them. european and american pushback against anyone criticizing Israeli apartheid & genocide is 100% because these crimes are useful to American & European hegemony.

Governments that are deeply antisemitic, like France, aren't suddenly caring about Jewish people. Jewish people, persecuted the world over, don't hold some kind of hegemonic power outside of Israel.

The state of Israel and its attendant brutal treatment of the locals are both incredibly useful to the US, and American hegemony means we're expected to celebrate both.

not bc they're Jewish. this isn't a break in the pattern of western antisemitism and it's not evidence that antisemitism doesn't exist.

it's just like how you could get fired for saying shit against the US war in Afghanistan when i was growing up. it is 100% about US military and political interests (ok slightly western europe too but lbr)

any bitch that says "you can be critical of israel but-" or "israel had racist government but-" should swallow a goddamn boot

i'm not "critical" of israel, i think it shouldn't exist. i don't think anyone has a right to a fascist apartheid ethnostate built on the mass graves of an indigenous population. and reducing the horror of ethnic cleansing, genocide and apartheid laws that palestinians have been enduring for decades to just "israeli government is kinda racist" makes me fucking lose my mind

@masriyah what do you think should happen to the Israeli people, if Israel were to dissolve & it all becomes free Palestine?

i don't know and i don't think that's more important to think about than the dismantling of apartheid and settler colonialism under which palestinians are suffering right now

Three big points here:

  1. After the end of Apartheid in South Africa, white South Africans have continued to dominate the country economically. In fact, the richest white South Africans have only INCREASED the amount of wealth they're hoarding since Apartheid ended. South Africa has the worst wealth gap on the planet, with race remaining the largest determining factor in a person's socioeconomic standing. Despite white South African moral panics about "white genocide," Black people are disproportionately at risk of violence in post-Apartheid South Africa. Based on historic precedent, Palestinians are at higher risk of socioeconomic exploitation and ongoing violence than their colonisers even if the Israeli state is abolished.
  2. If you're genuinely concerned about Israelis, maybe consider that living in a fascist state that is arresting people for social media posts that aren't genocidal enough is something that already exists and is happening to them right now and that not living in a genocidal fascist state would be better for anyone who isn't fascist and genocidal.
  3. Israel is carrying out genocide. Creating moral panics about hypothetical reverse genocides to demonise resistance to an actually ongoing genocide is straight up fucked. Go fuck yourself.

you know when irish people were fighting for freedom the rebels were never considered revolutionaries or freedom fighters. we had only ever been called terrorists by the british government, because when you call a people fighting for their rights and their freedoms terrorists you can distance yourself from them. people aren't fighting because they've been radicalised by 800 years of colonialism or 75 years of brutal settler imperialism, they're fighting because they're dirty terrorists trying to hurt our democracy and kill our children. and now we don't have any responsibility to reckon with the years of subjugation and settler violence and attempted genocide, because how can you expect us to deal with terrorists? the same story repeats itself over and over n it's shocking how people will eat it up every time when it comes to protecting and maintaining western power.

Idk I just feel like your average middle class (yt) person is way too comfortable. The suffering of others should destroy you. All this bloodshed, all this sorrow is done in YOUR name, to protect the interest of the poor, innocent white person so you can be as cozy as possible. Journalists lie for you, laborers die for your fruit and electronics. The very phone you hold would not exist without child labor. At this moment, the US is choosing to support genocide to uphold white supremacy for YOU. The guilt should eat you. You should feel miserable and disgusted, and after you're done feeling miserable, transfer those emotions into doing something the people of color your existence effects. You have the privilege of turning away; don't do it.
