Does your wife scare you, because in the episode "Parents Day" you had your own opinion until you looked at Nerris' mom. Then you looked worried.

Avatar

oh! well, i have a healthy fear of my wife's wrath, as does she of my own! hers is far more fiery and passionate however - befitting a dragon queen, you know?we both know best for nerris, but i have to admit... sometimes my queen knows best for me too! i am happy to relinquish my strength to her when necessary!

*The woman had been sitting in the garden with her crocodiles, humming gently to herself as she read a book, when suddenly, a puff of white smoke enveloped her.

POOF!

The crocodiles all shrank back as the smoke faded away. Something was wrong with the woman now - instead of the greens and yellows of her usual attire, all was white. Eyes that were usually clear and normally veiled with cautious concern were now unusually bright, pupils nearly nonexistent compared to the unnatural blueness of her irises.

Not that this bothered her. She only continued to read, a very unsettling smile on her face.*

After the whole ice dome ordeal Nerris had decide to well,, take Preston and stay at her house for a bit. It was going well all until this.

Nerris came around the corner with a bright smile before quickly,, it faded.

“Mom..?”

The crocodiles all crawled away from the woman, gathering behind Nerris, almost as though they were cowering. This was unnatural.

The woman glanced up from her book, craning her head very unnaturally towards Nerris, the same unsettlingly vague smile on her face. She didn’t blink. “Welcome back home, hon.”

Nerris blinked before taking a step back, nearly tripping. “H-Heeyy Moom-” She wasn’t.. afraid of her mom..r-right? Right.. there was nothing to be afraid of. Yeah,, this is fine. “What’s.. up?” This isn’t fine.

“Well. I’ve been reading here in the garden for the most part,” The woman informed her sweetly, turning around on her seat so that she was facing Nerris, letting her see that her whole outfit was now bleached white instead of its colorful former glory. “It’s such a lovely book, The Witness Wore Red.”

“… Are you alright?” She gave Nerris a curious look, still unblinking. “You look… unsettled.”

That’s when it hit her like a train. “Uhh..I–I just remembered I have something really really really important to do– that I need to do righht uh,, n-now!” She said before turning in an attempt to leave.

No no no how could.. how could this happen? To her mom..of all people.. her..mom..

The crocodiles, however, would prove to be her downfall, cowering behind her and blocking her way. This allowed the woman to appear by her side, placing a hand on her shoulder.

“Is it something difficult to do, perhaps? Let Mother help.” She offered gently, a trace of her usual self in her tone, almost as though trying to lull Nerris into a false sense of security.

“Ah…u-uh..it’s fine mom-” She looked a bit frightened by this. Damn it fuck– move guys please–! She frantically looked for another way out but couldn’t find one. “It’s okay I’m really fine–”

The crocodiles, too frightened to move, only cloistered around her further, effectively trapping her. Her mother’s hold on her shoulder tightened slightly.

“You sound worried. My dear girl,” The words sounded much more sinister now. “Why are you so full of negative emotions right now? Mother knows best - let her help you get rid of them.”

Nerris shook her head. “N-No no mom..p-please let go.. y-youre hurting me..“She whimpered out.

“Y-You’re scaring me mom..s-stop it..“She shut her eyes tightly.. maybe it was all a dream.. just..wake up.

The faintest flicker of her usual self crossed her face just then, and her grip on her shoulder loosened, just slightly. She didn’t let go, though, as she fell silent, the smile disappearing into a contemplative frown.

She soon smiled again however, the other hand on her other shoulder. “Fear is the heart of love. Don’t you love me, Nerris? Because I certainly love you, my dear girl.”

It’s not a dream and..that’s for sure. “I..I love you mom but..you’re.. acting weird and..s-scary..” She bit her lip and sobbed out slightly.. please wake up.. wake up wake up wakE UP–

“Is that so?” Nerris’s mother cooed, crouching down so that she was eye level with her daughter, letting her see into the unnaturally dead blue eyes she currently had, that seemed to be faintly glowing. “Mom is sorry for scaring you, even if fear is the heart of love, my dear. But how is this weird in any way? I am simply being who I am.”

Nerris took a deep breath and soon shook her head. “Y-Youre not my mom..– this..this is a..a dream..I’m– I’m still at camp aren’t I? I..Is this–” She froze. “You never act like this..t-this isn’t you..”

“This is your house, Nerris,” The woman said, genuinely confused as to how she could mistake this place as camp. “Your home, where you, your father, and your mother live in. And… sweetie…”

She held both of Nerris’s hands. “If this is a dream, then why are you still feeling all these unsavory emotions? These… negative emotions which bother you so. Surely dreams must be happier than this.”

“N..Negative emotions..“She flinched away a bit, wiggling her hands to try and escape. She made a plan in her head and took a deep breath before LEAPING over the crocodiles.

She made it but fell on her face like a moron.

The crocodiles all flinched away, clearing the path for the older woman to gather her fallen daughter in her arms, tightly locking her against her chest in her grip before smiling sweetly. Viciously? There was no difference.

“Yes, hon. Negative emotions. Things we must get rid of. Let’s go inside, shall we, my dear? Your father must be waiting for you.”

“D..Dad..?” No..no no no is.. he like this too? God damn it.. Everything hurts. God..please don’t let him be like this too..please. ..

She just,, went limp and silent. Seeing as she couldn’t get away anyway..

*honestly? he had NO idea what had happened to his wife. he’d been busy testing the limits to his magic. so when she came inside the house calling for him, he was vastly unprepared when he turned around to see them.*

my queen…? and… fair nerris the cute…?

Nerris looked up with a soft sob,, thank god that he was okay– and not..like Mom. “D-Dad..“She whimpered out, desperately trying to get away from her mother. “D..D-Dad h-help–”

“Darling,” The woman crooned, her hold on Nerris tightening even further. She had faltered slightly upon seeing that her husband was NOT in a similar state, but had soon picked herself up again. “I was just telling Nerris about how… wonderful it would be to be rid of all those unsavory negative emotions of her. Don’t you agree?”

*there was something about her that made the man take a few steps forward, placing a hand on nerris’s head and brushing away a few locks of hair to reassure her that he meant no harm. his gaze was unnaturally serious, focused entirely on his wife - no smiles here.*

my dear queen. negative emotion is crucial to the budding mage dabbling in all magic. to be rid of it… impossible, and not ideal.

*he looks at her outfit. the white is striking. despite himself, his free hand is slowly forming vines around her feet.* but… i suppose it’s too late for you, isn’t it?

Nerris seemed to calm down a bit, though she still winced at the painfully tight grip her mother had around her. She just needed to..ignore it and..not pass out. That works.. that works. She opened her eyes, her gaze still at her father as she watched.

“It’s never too late to renounce your terrible feelings to reach ascension, darling,” She said, not noticing the growth around her feet. Her eyes were on her husband and her husband alone. “Even you can be rid of them. Let me help both of you.

i’m sorry, my beloved queen, but…

*with a twist of his wrist, vines shot upwards, binding the woman and forcing her to let go of nerris, who landed safely in his arms.*

i’m afraid i can’t let you do that.

Nerris clung to her father, shaking slightly. She mumbled something about Kool-aid and saunas or something as she cried.

it’s going to be okay, nerris. dad’s gotcha.

*he held nerris close to his chest before he looked to his wife, enclosed and struggling against the vines.*

i’m sorry, my dear. but our daughter’s safety comes first. *and with that, he ran.*

The woman’s smiley facade broke just then as she watched her husband and daughter run away, and, despite the magical vine bindings, she was engulfed in blue flame, and-

[ COME BACK HERE~! ] A white dragon roared viciously at them.

Nerris yelped and just trusted in her dad to get them away from the aNgry cultist dragon mother behind them. Oh god oh god oh gOD

oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck-

*the man ran down the street, daughter in arms, as the dragon smashed through their house to get at them. great googly moogly, it’s all gone to shit, fuck- wait. magic!

with quick thinking, he used the same vine magic he used to bind his wife to make continuous vines which tore up the sidewalk, but helped them move faster.*

The neighbors screamed as a white dragon burst from the house, breathing blue flame into the sky before spreading her wings and flying after her wayward husband and daughter. She spat blue flame at them, missing every now and then.

Nerris opened one eye, saw her mother and immediately shut it as she threw a hand up pointed at her. A blue beam of light shot out and created a small wall of ice that blocked her mother for a short like three seconds before she broke it. Well it was worth a try-

*the man looked up at the ice wall - fatal mistake. this sent him sprawling to the ground, protected only by the last minute vine he had used to pick him up upside down by the leg. this inevitably allowed the dragon to catch up to them.*

fuck.

Let me help both of you.

i'm sorry, my beloved queen, but...

*with a twist of his wrist, vines shot upwards, binding the woman and forcing her to let go of nerris, who landed safely in his arms.*

i'm afraid i can't let you do that.

“You never act like this..t-this isn’t you..”

if you’re nerris’s friend, then more than likely you’ve seen how she plays. if you’d like to LARP with us that’d be more than alright, but if you were hoping to LARP with me and my more advanced party, well, you’ll have to pass a series of trials and tribulations! you up for that, young friend?

I may be going to jail is necromancy legal?

not to mention the fucking killing people over and over again

i don’t think so my little elf. but, what nobody knows won’t harm them!!

Someone called the police on the camp about everything illegal we’ve done here.

I think they know…

oh. oh dear.

do you want me and your mother to come get you?? i don’t think they’ll be able to arrest the daughter of a dragon should we fetch you.

Maybe that would be a good idea, we should probably take my kids with us since they aren’t registered as humans

absolutely!! your mother would set fire to the camp before she forgot them!!

… literally. we’re almost at camp. get ready.

Wait how? We live like a three hour drive away???

we flew?? your mother may be new to this dragon thing but draconic rage seems to be taking the reigns right now. i’d advise the grandkids to assemble.

MOM’S A DRAGON?!?!

THAT’S AWESOME!

And I’ll get everyone together really quick!!!

now she really is a dragon queen!!

stay out of sight from the police little elf while you do that, little elf!!

*the man approaches, placing a hand on the leg of the towering dragon in their backyard. he’s not sure if she noticed, but he calls out anyway, in english at first, to let himself be known.*

my queen!! my fairest!! can you hear me??

*The dragon looks down, still lamenting the untimely death of her petunias. The crocodiles are all perched all over the garden - well, save for the smallest. The smallest, Sunny, rolls among the burnt petunias.*

I’m here, dear. Not like I can leave. And I hear you loud and clear.

*whoa. he could understand her now. NICE. with a grin, he looks up at her.*

[ that’s great, because i have something to tell you and it involves camp campbell and the police, and our daughter’s wellbeing. ]

*Okay, the dragonspeak made her flinch, she’d admit that much. The crocodiles all seem to rejoice as well as she leans forward.*

Where did you - how did you learn how to- never mind. What’s this about the police and Nerris and Camp Campbell? Is she in danger?

[ somebody called the police on the camp, and nerris and her friends may or may not be arrested should they still be there…? ]

*he scratches the back of his neck with his free hand awkwardly, the other holding onto his staff. it’s a little scary, telling your dragon wife your daughter may be in peril.*

[ also, the same guy who gave me magic? helped me learn dragonspeak. also i think i can talk to your crocodiles now? hey there, crocs!! ]

*The crocodiles all stop, sensing the dragon’s rising fury. All prior lamentations over the burnt petunias? Now replaced by a mother’s fury. Her words are punctuated by a column of flame that she fires into the air as she roars. You, the reader, are pretty sure people saw that column of flame from at least five blocks away.*

Somebody did WHAT?!

[ oh sweet jesus. ]

*the poor man is genuinely terrified. not for himself - no, he’s terrified for anyone who crosses her path at this moment.*

[ yeaaaah. we both know nerris and her friends have done some… questionable things. also probably murder. i think someone has had enough of it…? ]

*The dragon ponders this, still visibly steamed. And then, without so much as a warning, picks up her husband with a claw and deposits him on her back. The crocodiles all look up at her.*

We’ll be back in a few, dears. We just need to stage a little… intervention.

*She glances at her wings, and tests them out. Inexperience with them made her wobbly in the air, but, after a few minutes of gaining her bearings, she clumsily heads in the direction of the camp with a vendetta, husband on her back.*

[ son of a fu- ]

*the man clings to his wife’s neck like a lifeline as they soar over most of the residences on their block, and above a lake, in the direction of sleepy peak. in one hand he has his phone.*

[ honey, maybe we should be a little more rational about this - ]
