Finally got Mikey done! For some reason this picture became the bane of my existence, and I’m not sure why. I had the pose done for ages, but just could not get the motivation to actually sit down and draw everything. I originally intended to give him a jacket, but decided at the last minute not to (laziness or artistic vision? you decide!)
Anyway, with Apritello week coming up next month (and me having nothing done for it yet), it’s probably going to be a while until I start on the next one in this series. I’m probably going to try and get some fast/easy pictures that I can use to keep up my weekly posting schedule while I focus on trying to get that done.
I was hoping to do a fic to go along with the art, but hahahahaha, yeah, no. Not unless I finish all the art and the drawing I want to make for my nephew’s (rapidly approaching) birthday.

What do you do when you have art block? Draw a chibi, I guess. Fun fact, I don't know if I've ever drawn an actual chibi before. If I did, it was a looooong time ago and I literally have no idea what I'm doing. Given that, I think it came out alright?
I'm thinking of doing the rest of the Lower Decks protags, since it was relatively easy/quick to draw and I am trying to get stuff done for the upcoming Apritello week.

So, I'm still in a huge art slump. I have very little motivation to draw and no buffer to get me through this rough patch. That's partially why I chose to go with a more rendered style than I normally do; I just needed to shake things up. It's been years since I've done this style of rendering, and I think it came out decently well. The subject matter--a love potion--is for a challenge in an art server I'm in. Hopefully I'll get my art mojo back soon.
It doesn't help that Tumblr has pulled a DeviantArt and forcibly opted us all into our content being stolen for AI training, which makes me not want to post on here anymore. Which sucks, because it's where I get the most engagement. They also made the opt-out PER BLOG, instead of account wide, which is extra scummy. Sigh.

So, I've been in a bit of a slump lately. I keep trying to finish Mikey for my ROTTMNT Foreshortening series and it's just not working out. I had no plans on drawing anything from my Transcendent Trio story, but then I watched LavenderTowne's video MAKING CHARACTERS ENTIRELY BASED ON COLOR and I got inspired.
I always knew that my previous design for their outfit was not going to be the final one, but when I saw that rainbow character I knew that that kind of chaotic fashion was what Aster needed. I originally wanted to give them a headband (kind of like Rikku's in FFX-2), but it just didn't work with their head shape. Still, I feel like this really captures the high-energy, off-the-wall personality they're going to have. But it's still just a concept sketch, so what do y'all think?
