Just noticed Villanelle breaking the 4th wall in S03E05 (dunno if accidentally or on purpose)
And after all this family drama cannot stop reflecting on what is really happening there. The story with her mom and the orphanage is really sad and I have a lot of sympathy for her. But controversial patterns in behavior make me as a therapist go crazy.
Is she crying because she’s just lost a perfect “home sweet home” picture or is she grieving for the love she could not get? If so, the whole high-functioning-psychopath-assassin theme doesn’t make sense anymore.
I’m not saying she cannot love. She can, but this love is supposed to be strong and have everything to do with control and her narcissistic personality. She has it all with Eve and Eve only, and this makes the story sparkle and be one of a kind, exceptional and fucking unique.
So when I see this specter of emotions after grotesque episode with family reunion, I just couldn’t help but questioning the whole point. Was it on purpose or this is just a huge mistake screenwriters made by wasting our precious time instead of giving us some lovely VillanEve scenes?
Just saying…
