*NEW POST* National Park Roadtrip Days 19-21 Olympic National Park – Park #7! Homeland of the Quinault and the Hoh Reaching the Olympic Peninsula meant taking our first ferry ride. We hopped on the ferry as the sun was setting over Seattle and arrived at the gates of Olympic National Park in the wee hours. With the guidance of yet another trusty park ranger we enjoyed overnight trips hiking in both the Hoh Rainforest and alongside the Pacific Coast. The beauty we observed here makes this park one of our absolute favorites. Read more about out adventures on the STS blog! #linkinbio Posts on the STS site are still sporadic, but we’ve got some fun new posts planned for the coming weeks. PSU Stats Recruitment Day

Five years into a statistics program and I’m still shocked at my decision to go down this path. Switching fields going into my PhD was daunting and I’ve spoken before about how was convinced to turn Full Stats Studduring my visit to the programs recruitment day. Since then I’ve helped out with each batch of prospective students as they too are welcomed to Happy Valley and introduced to what…

I’ve been going climbing a few times a week for a month or so. There’s a bouldering wall at one of the gyms on campus and a few other stat grad students that go regularly. It’s been easy to get into, a fun way to be active, and I really enjoy the incremental goals that you can attain one hold at a time. I’m so excited because I finally completed my first AND second routes today! 🥳 what non-academic goals do you have? . . . #climbing #bouldering #womenwhoclimb #gradschool #phdlife #stayingactive #accomplishment (at State College, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvkuAIqBc2-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=13qi741nkheoz

This Blog is also about Our Work (#actuallivingscientist)

Rachel recently used the analogy (METAPHOR? KY SCHOOLS TAUGHT ME THINGS I SWEAR) that life can be a feel like a circus act of spinning plates in the air. All the tasks and goals we balance in grad school are different plates, and we also want to keep ourselves and our relationships healthy and spinning. This blog is about our life, but as scientists our work is a large part of the equation. The…
