Thank you!!!!
Hey thank you everyone for sending us questions! This was fun! Let’s do it again sometime! Feel free to follow us on Twitter if you feel like hearing us talk more!
Who drew the Dads? It's awesome art!
Vernon: Leighton did the original character designs and Shanen (@epseelutely) did all of the in-game character art!
Which daddy do you guys feel you relate to the most?
Vernon: Mat because I don’t consider myself an introvert and don’t consider myself an extrovert and mostly just think I’m whatever version of that is uncomfortable in all situations always.
Leighton: Robert because knives/fear of emotional intimacy and Damien because of his monologues on death anxiety.
How many dads did either of you interview during the making?
Vernon: We talked to a couple but Dr. Brian Wecht, PhD of Game Grumps and Ninja Sex Party was our in-house Dad throughout the entirety of Development.
Other than Amanda, which kid from the game would you want as your own kid
Vernon: Briar and Hazel. Their relationship reminds me a lot of my relationship with my brothers.
Leighton: I want Lucien to help me with my eyeliner, honestly.
What are your favorite memories with your dads? And do you have favorite memories from working on the game?
Leighton: A lot of my happiest childhood memories were just chill days I had with my Dad. Digging up a bunch of baby clams we found in the creek behind our house and then writing a poem about them, reading Harry Potter together and doing silly voices, making dumb stop motion movies with my toys, etc. Every day with him was (is) a fun adventure no matter what we were doing. Love you, Dad!
Vernon: My Dad would always sing “When I’m Sixty-Four” by the Beatles to me when I was really young. He was in the Navy and would frequently be gone for months on end. I remember once, when he was on deployment, the song came on during a TV ad and I cried a bunch. Love that guy.
Vernon: As for the game, Leighton and I didn’t know each other super well when we started but by this point she’s one of my best friends and I’m so excited to see her progress as a creator.
Leighton:: Listen I didn’t come here to cry, you dingus. ANYWAYS DAD JOKES
who's yalls dream daddies?
Vernon: My Chemical Romance frontman and accomplished comic book author Gerard Way
Leighton: Acclaimed character actor and former NYFD volunteer Steve Vincent Buscemi
Favorite moments from the game?
Leighton: There are a bunch, but one that sticks out to me right now is the part in Brian date 2 where the kids are skipping rocks but Amanda thinks they’re just throwing rocks into the water. I also love Robert’s monologue about camping and almost have the whole thing memorized.
Vernon: There’s a line about Amanda eating string cheese by biting off the top of the string cheese like some kind of monster. This was a literal conversation Leighton and I had when I was eating a piece of string cheese like some kind of monster. Oh! Also the bit about Duchess Cordelia correctly guessing the winner of the Kentucky Derby was my favorite joke of the entire game.
V Important: If I went to The Coffee Spoon and told Mat to surprise me, what drink would he make
Leighton: We actually sat down and wrote an entire list of everything Mat serves at the coffee spoon. Enjoy:
