George, Duke of Clarence in The White Queen. Ep7: Poison and Malmsey Wine
nobody actually went to stop george until the king commanded it which i think just shows that most people agreed with him
Was watching TSP and noticed something familiar about Maggie’s dress
i’m fine
You guys know the reason why The White Queen is better than all the rest of the Starz series is because it was produced by BBC, not Starz, right?
Starz only distributed it outside of the UK.
I wonder why Philippa Gregory and the writers of shows/movies inspired by her books hate women so much? Like, seriously, why? Elizabeth Woodville and her mother and daughter (Elizabeth of York) doing witchcraft -and the last one having an public affair with her uncle; Margaret Beaufort being a heartless bitch and murderer, Margaret being a crazy bitch, Catherine a liar, Anne a vengeful seductress who has sex with her brother, (I haven’t read the book but apparently an underage Elizabeth having an affair with Thomas Seymour instead of him grooming (or trying to) her). Even Mary Boleyn that Gregory loves so much is portrayed as an innocent virgin who falls in love with Henry VIII and has her son (another rumour that she believes is a fact) as if that’s the only way she could be good and likeable -that’s slut-shaming, my darlings. FYI, she could be sleeping with half Europe and would not change the fact that she’s great and lovable -but no, for them she had to be ‘pure’.
The worst part is that I believed they think their portrayals of their characters are “female-empowering” when in reality are misogynistic.
If you enjoy her books or shows inspired on her works, that’s ok, but please, know that’s little of truth in them. I’ve seen interviews of Gregory and she’s always sure that rumours (that most historians agree to be wrong) are facts -like Anne incest accusations, that Mary B.’s son is Henry’s, etc.
To be honest, the only character I liked from her books/shows is Mary Tudor (King’s sister) (and that’s only because she’s barely seen).
Did you know that Charlotte Hope auditioned for the role of Anne Neville in The White Queen? I would have loved to see her as the little of Warwick’s daughters despite she was great as Catherine of Aragon.
I'm thinking of making a group chat centred around The White Queen that would also involve The White Princess and The Spanish Princess, as well as other general Wars of The Roses/early Tudors discussion... anyone interested?
Yeah! 👏
now is the winter of our discontent made glorious summer by this son of York, and all the clouds that loured upon our house in the deep bosom of the ocean buried.
I hate this so much 🙈🙈🙈
Someone: Ohh so you study history, so what happened in year [insert random year]?
Me (sweating): Uhmmmm... Idk but something happened for sure, I guess??
Despite I am not very often here I really miss The White Queen fandom and the ao3 fanfics about it 😭
My always faves Henry VII and Elizabeth of York ❤️

But Ernest, it’s all I want. I just want to be here by your side.
We are star-crossed, my love.”

Nothing better to start the day than a kudo in one of your fics to remind you how much you want to continue writing them 🥰
