Loyle Carner

  • Who is he? Loyle Carner is a British rapper/hip hop artist.
  • Date of birth: October 6th, 1994
  • Diagnosis: Carner was diagnosed with both ADHD and dyslexia in his youth.
  • Medication: Carner tried medication as a child, but found it didn’t work for him. He turned to cooking and music as ways to help him focus. 
  • Quote: “It was about figuring out that [having ADHD] wasn’t a bad thing. I was really good at having ADHD. It makes me who I am—it’s the only reason I make music, play shows, and can make people laugh. Part of the journey was going: yeah, fuck it. I’m supposed to be loud and annoying.”
  • Note: Carner runs a summer cooking school for teenagers with ADHD (in association with Goma). He teaches the classes himself. (It’s very wholesome and you can read some articles about it here and here!)
