What’s out this week? 4/4/18
The big news this week: Motor Crush, Gotham Academy, and Black Canary writer @brendenfletcher will be here at Fantom on Saturday to celebrate the release of his Miyazaki-inspired opus ISOLA! So come on over.
Isola #1 by Brenden Fletcher and Karl Kerschl
Childhood friends Fletcher and @karlkerschl have been working on this series for decades, and it’s finally out on Wednesday! You might recognize the creative team from their work on Gotham Academy, and we can’t wait to see their first creator-owned series together. A Studio Ghibli-style fantasy adventure comic, we’re doing a big signing event for this with Brenden on Saturday!
Your Black Friend and Other Strangers by Ben Passmore
Whether you missed Your Black Friend when it was originally published or you just want to revisit it, this expanded hardcover is a biting, hilarious, depressing story about race relations in modern America on a very personal level. Passmore won an Ignatz Award for this at Small Press Expo last year, and his fiery, politically-charged acceptance speech remains the highlight of the show. You gotta pick this up.
Copra Round Five by Michel Fiffe
Did you hear Fiffe’s going to be rebooting Image Comics’ Bloodstrike in June in his signature experimental indie comics Copra style? Anyway, the fifth collected edition of Copra is finally out!
Analog #1 by Gerry Duggan, David O'Sullivan, and Jordie Bellaire
A new thriller series set in a dystopian future where the internet has crashed and everything is once again… analog. Written by Deadpool scribe Gerry Duggan and colored by Jordie Bellaire, who works on just about every comic ever published.
