Sorry I've been bit quiet lately, but I've been working on a few things including a new series with a Witch mate and a snarky feline familiiar! Hoping that people will like the series.

I've also got a few oneshots planned for the Kings and I'm hoping to post something this weekend.

I'm excited to be writing again after taking some time for myself although I am a little nervous to post something new x

Danni excelled at being a mother to Nicolai, her maternal instincts stronger and running deeper than she ever thought possible, but then everything vampires feel is on a much deeper level compared to their human counterparts. Danni would bake cakes and cookies with Nicolai, something that he loved as he got to eat their creations. Demetri would often watch his mate and son baking together, painting together and playing games together. Danni even taught him how play the different card and board games that she played as a child so he could join in with them. Nicolai liked to call this family game time and Demetri couldn’t help smiling as he got to experience the family life he never thought he would once he became immortal.

Caius and Athenodora were pleased to hear that Danni and Demetri agreed to nurture both his human and vampire sides as this meant he got to experience the best of both worlds. Athenodora offered to bake with Nicolai one cloudy Wednesday afternoon “Can you bake Nana?” “Not really sweetie but I can read and therefore can follow the recipes from your cookbooks” She replied smiling down at him “Ok, we’ll start with a simple Chocolate cake recipe” Nicolai responded with a smile of his own as he took his Nana’s hand and walked beside her to the kitchen.

Caius decided to see how his wife and grandson were getting on in the kitchen and walked in to find her blue dress covered in flour and a streak of flour on her cheek. Nicolai had some chocolate around his lips but they both looked happy as they decorated the cake. Caius chuckled low to himself but due to their vampire hearing Athenodora and Nicolai heard him and looked up. “Look Grandpa, we’re nearly finished with our cake” “I can see, it looks delicious” He replied “It’s a shame Nana and I can’t help you eat it” “I’ve told him he has to share the cake with the new Secretary Lori especially as we have some Chocolate chunk cookies in the oven” “Sounds like a good idea darling” Caius replied smiling and Nicolai nodded in agreement.

The following morning Jane knocks on Demetri’s door gently “Hi, how are you and Danni doing?” “Danni’s doing well, see for yourself. I’m ok, thanks to Gianna giving me advice on how to care for my son. I’m just getting a bit impatient regarding Danni’s transformation, I just want her to wake up” He says “One day down, two to go and then you’ll have forever together. I can already see some physical changes to her after just one day” Jane says as she stands over the crib. “You can pick him up Jane” Demetri said grinning “Thank you. Come here little one” Jane coos at Nicolai as she picks him up wrapping him in his blanket and making her way to the sofa. ‘He smells like chocolate with a hint of peppermint’ she thinks to herself looking at Nicolai. Jane spends the day helping Demetri take care of Nicolai, giving him some time to sit beside Danni and read to her, this acting as a distraction for both him and Danni or so he hoped.

Alec came to visit in the afternoon “Hi Demetri how’s are things” “Jane hasn’t put my son down since she arrived this morning, so I have been reading to Danni trying to distract us both. I hate knowing and seeing that she’s in pain even if she is trying not to show how much it hurts” “I’m glad Danni is handling her transformation well” Alec replied “It’s my turn to hold him now I’m here, please sister.” Alec said sitting beside Jane and waiting for her to hand him Nicolai. Demetri was a little surprised that the twins wanted to be around his son as much as they did, not he minded though.

Danni found herself staring at the ring on her finger ‘It’s so beautiful’ she thought and smiled to herself “What are thinking about mi amore?” Demetri asks sitting beside her on the sofa “I was just looking at my ring, it’s so beautiful, thank you” She replied kissing him “I’m glad you like it so much” He kissed her lips and wrapped his arms around her. “I’m going to find Gianna, Heidi, Chelsea and Jane. I want to tell them our news and show them my beautiful ring that my gorgeous fiancé got me” Danni said kissing him and he smiled at her.

Danni found Gianna at her desk and Heidi and Chelsea in the kitchen “Congratulations hunny” Gianna said when Danni told her Demetri had proposed. “Wow, the ring is gorgeous” Heidi said “Congratulations. What a beautiful ring. That man has good taste” Chelsea adds smiling. Danni told Jane that evening once Jane came off guard duty and she also loved the engagement ring and congratulated them both.

A few days later Demetri was on guard duty when Athenodora and Sulpicia entered the throne room with Corin and Afton catching the three Kings and the guards by surprise “We are going to see Danni and will be in her room for the remainder of the day” Athenodora says firmly “Afton, Corin you are not required to join us” Sulpicia added as she and Athenodora left the throne room and made their way to see Danni.

The following day Danni woke alone and found a note on Demetri’s pillow

Good morning mi amore,

Felix, Jane and I had to leave early for a last-minute mission and I did not want to wake you.

Alec has offered to keep you company for the few days we’ll be gone.

I will text you later, have a good day.

Alec arrived with breakfast and snacks as Danni stepped out the closet dressed in leggings and a top “I thought we could have a movie day as the others are away and I have today off” He said grinning and getting comfortable on the sofa in front of the fireplace. Danni sat down beside him “Thank you for breakfast and a movie day sounds good” They watched some Disney films during the day, before switching to scary movies for the evening. Danni hid her face in Alec’s chest at the scary parts and he stroked her hair comforting her “It’s ok, you can look now” Although sometimes even he felt a bit scared or creeped out, not that he would admit it.

Danni heard a faint buzzing noise about 10.30pm and picked her phone up off the coffee table to see a text from Demetri:

Hi darling, I just wanted to check in, we’re currently in Russia, tracking a couple of newborns causing trouble. How are you? What have you done today? Love Demi

Danni smiled reading his text and replied straight back.

Hi babe, glad you got there safe, good luck with the mission. I’m ok but I’m missing you. Alec and I have had a movie day – we watched Disney movies during the day and we’ve been watching scary movies this evening. Love Danni xx

Danni fell asleep, her head resting on Alec’s arm. He gently lifted her up and put her in bed tucking her in. “Goodnight Danni” He whispered and made his way back to the sofa and put on Dracula to watch, turning the volume down so not to disturb Danni.

May 18th had finally arrived; Danni’s birthday and Demetri had prepared Danni breakfast in bed. He made vanilla pancakes topped with strawberries and maple syrup. Gianna had taught him to cook a few dishes since Danni’s arrival, this being one of them. He placed her breakfast tray on his bedside table and climbed back into bed beside her, taking her into his arms again and kissed her neck “Good morning mi amore” He trailed kisses up her neck, placing a kiss under her ear making his way up her jawline and finishing with a kiss on her lips “Hmm, morning” She replied turning in his arms and kissing his lips “I have bought you breakfast cara” “Thank you, they look delicious” She says.

Whilst Danni ate her breakfast Demetri went into the closet and bought out a set of beautifully wrapped gifts “Happy 16th birthday cara mia” He said placing the gifts on the bed and climbing back into bed beside her. Danni looked surprised. “You didn’t think I’d you forget your birthday, did you?” He said looking at her and smiling “I-I didn’t realise you knew when it was and as we never discussed it, I just assumed, hoped it would go uncelebrated” Demetri looked sad at hearing this “Why would you not want to celebrate your birthday Danni? You don’t have many left to celebrate before you become immortal” “It’s not that I don’t want to celebrate my birthday, it’s just I didn’t want to celebrate it alone” A single tear slid down her cheek, Demetri placed his hand on her cheek and wiped the tear away with his thumb “I’m here to celebrate it with you and I always will be. Why would you think you’d be alone today?” She leant forward and put her head on his chest “It doesn’t matter. I’m just happy that I’m spending today with you” He nodded and put a hand on the back of her head and begun to stroke her hair. A few moments passed with him holding her in his arms before he gently pulled away from her. “Here open your gifts” He said passing her the gifts.

She opened the first gift to see a Pandora charm bracelet with a couple of charms; Belle’s golden dress charm, Mrs Potts and Chip charm and a ‘16th’ charm. Her eyes lit up “Oh Dem it’s beautiful, thank you” She said smiling and kissed him. The second gift was a pair of blue/black shoes, similar to the red/black she bought a few days ago “I know how much you liked the red/black ones” He said “Thank you, I love them” The third gift was a silver necklace with a heart shaped pendant that had a small diamond on it, he had it engraved on the back ‘Happy Sweet 16 Love D’ “Oh Dem it’s so pretty. You shouldn’t have” He placed his index finger on her lips “Sshh, just enjoy being spoilt. You deserve it” He kissed her. “Here’s the last one” The final gift she opened was a Boux Avenue box and inside were two baby doll sets; one black with a lace trim and the other mid blue with pink flowers. Danni threw her arms around Demetri’s neck “Thank you so much for all my presents. You’re amazing” She kissed his cheek and then his neck, holding him close to her. He wrapped his arms around her kissing the top of her head “You are very welcome and you’re amazing too”

The following day after breakfast Demetri took Danni shopping again, this time for a TV as he wanted to make his room more comfortable for her. He held her hand as they shopped. They pick out a smart TV with a built in DVD/Blu-ray player. “I can’t believe we’re adding a modern touch to your room” She said looking at him “It’s our room cara” Demetri says giving her a quick kiss on the lips “I know it’s just getting used to saying that” She replied “Well how about we get some stuff to make it feel more like our room?” “You mean add a girly touch to the room?” She asked “If you’d like to” He replied smiling “Ok, how about something simple like a few cushions?” She asked “Sounds good. Let’s go” He replied.

Once in the department store Danni leads him to the cushion section and immediately notices a ‘Lord of the Manor’ cushion and a matching ‘Lady of the Manor’ cushion and adds one of each to their basket. Demetri chuckles when he notices them. “We live in a castle, they’re perfect. We’ll put them on the bed” She said smiling and he nodded “We should pick up another bed set too. You should pick whatever colour you like” He said to her “Ooh I like this one. What do you think?” She asked “Hmm purple that’s different” He responded “Well we have a black and grey set and 2 blood red sets already and I like the deep purple colour and the new cream cushions will also match” She said “Ok we’ll get the set and pick up a pale purple sheet too” “Thanks Demi” She kissed his cheek and went back to pick up some silver cushions with a purple flower pattern on them. “I think these will look good too. We can use them on the sofas or the bed, especially when the purple set is on the bed or the black and grey one” He nodded and smiled at her. Felix was right his little human had him wrapped around her little finger and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Demetri took Danni to a coffee shop to allow her to get a drink and sit for a bit “I’ll just take these back to the car, I won’t be long” “Ok, do you want me to get you a coffee?” She asked “No thank you, I’ll be fine” He replied “Ok, I’ll see you soon.”

Danni woke the next morning to find she was in Demetri’s arms and she was in no rush to move away from him. “Morning, did you sleep well?” He asked “Mmm” She hummed in response “You?” She smiled looking at him over her shoulder and he smiled back at her “I did” He replied, playing along. She nodded in response and snuggled back into him, enjoying the feeling of being in his arms. He tightened his grip slightly and kissed her hair. He vowed to himself to make sure that he holds her whilst she sleeps more often.

“What are you up to today Dem?” “Nothing this morning. Felix and I are training the lower guards this afternoon, and then I am on duty in the throne room this evening. I won’t be back till later tonight.” He replied “Ok. Can we spend the morning cuddling then?” She asked “Of course, although I will leave briefly to get you breakfast” He replied “Just be sure to hurry back.”

Heidi was bringing a new group of humans to the castle today for a tour and Danni was asked to stay in her room all day. Danni didn’t mind as the weather outside was overcast so it was perfect for a duvet day. She spent the morning drawing with the art supplies Esme had sent her; the afternoon reading and the evening watching movies on her laptop until she fell asleep. The King size bed always felt so much bigger to her when she slept in it alone, even the room seemed bigger when Demetri wasn’t there with her. She woke up on Demetri’s side of the bed noticing it still smelt like him days after he left.  

The following morning Josh came by and took Danni to the kitchen for breakfast and then escorted her to the gardens where they talked about different topics including what guard duty was like as Danni was curious. After having lunch outside, Josh took Danni back to her room as he was on duty for the remainder of the day.

A few days later Caius came to Demetri’s room “Morning Danni, I thought you might like to join me in my study for a history lesson?” “Morning Caius, I’d like that. Thank you” Caius held his arm out for Danni to take, which she did and they made their way to his study talking about what they’d had been up since they last spoke.

Once inside the study Caius and Danni took a seat on the sofa and he told her about the history of the Volturi and how they came to power after a near century long battle against the Romanians between 400 and 500AD. “Our purpose is to keep our existence hidden from the human world and we do that by tracking down and dealing with any vampires that break our laws which could lead to our existence being exposed. Where possible we hold a trial to ascertain their guilt but sometimes it is necessary for the problem to be dealt with immediately, especially if human attention has been drawn to the situation. Our rule is still effective after all this time” “Wow. I didn’t realise you guys had been around so long, nor how you came into power” Danni responded “Our three main laws are to maintain our secret, to kill inconspicuously and to not create immortal children” “What are immortal children?” She asked “Immortal children are children of a very young age that were changed into vampires but because of their young age they couldn’t be taught or restrained. They could destroy an entire village during a single tantrum. This caused humans to pay to attention to the devastation and we had to intervene. The punishment for creating an immortal child is to destroy the child and its creator. Luckily there have been no immortal children created for centuries” He replied “That makes sense, but why would anyone ever want an immortal child around?” She asked “I don’t know, I couldn’t think of anything worse personally” He replied. Danni couldn’t help laughing at this and Caius smiled at her.

The following day after breakfast they got comfortable and Danni put on The Vampire Diaries and they began watching them. Demetri was slightly envious that these vampires could go out in the sun without sparkling and without bursting into flames as long as they had a special ring, thinking how much simpler it would be if he could go out with Danni without having to worry about exposing his world to the humans. “You know there’s a flaw to having a daylight ring, if it is lost or stolen then the vampire can’t go out during the day without getting burnt” She turned to look at him and smiled “How did you…?” “I didn’t, I just kind of guessed. I mean we can’t go out during the day unless it’s overcast with no chance of you sparkling or we’re inside the castle gardens. Not that I mind” She said cutting him off “I know but I do feel bad for you though” He said sounding a bit sad “Don’t, I sit on the balcony or go to the gardens. It’s fine really. I think of it as practice” She smiled at him and he smiled back “Practice?” He asked curious “Yes practice for when I’m immortal and can’t go out in the sun” ‘Funny little human’ he thought to himself smiling.

There was a knock on the door and it opened before either of them could say anything “How’s my favourite vampire/human couple doing?” Felix asked smiling as he entered the room. “Danni and I are watching one of her favourite shows on her laptop and I am feeling better, thanks for asking mate” Demetri answered. Danni tried not to laugh at his sassy remark. “Glad you’re feeling better. What you watching?” Felix responded. “The Vampire Diaries. Here take a seat” Danni said patting the spot beside her on the bed and she moved closer to Demetri. “Don’t mind if I do” Felix smirked as Demetri growled low at his friend. “Stop that” Danni put her hand on Demetri’s chest and tapped it lightly. This caused Felix to smirk again whilst Demetri just held her closer to him. “These are better watched on a TV but I think my laptop’s a good substitute and it gives Demetri and I something else do but read of an evening and during his time off” “It does” Demetri agreed with her, pleased to hear she liked spending time with him. Felix smiled “Glad you’re settling in well Danni.”

The following morning Alec knocked on the door “You are both needed in the throne room in five minutes” “Ok, we’ll be right behind you” Demetri responded. Danni took hold of Demetri’s hand as they made their way to the throne room “Do you think everything is ok?” She asked him “I don’t know amore as I’ve been off duty for a week, but I’m sure it’s fine” “Ok” He felt her grip tighten on his hand and gave her hand a gentle squeeze to try and reassure her.
