I appreciate that you went for “Ren & Stimpy” rather than “The Loud House”; the amount of spiteful harassment over the shows sharing a single word in the title is embarrassing. Serious, apart from being animated and having kids as the protagonists, there is nothing else to go on.I think a lot of the most ‘Ren and Stimpy’ style aspects come’s from Zeurel’s fantastic animated contributions, as that influence is prevalent in their other projects. I’m certainly not saying this is fact, as there is a ton of wonderful and absurd flourishes in the animation of Too Loud, but, while Ren an Stimpy takes things to furthest reaches of absurdity, Too Loud is a bit more grounded in it’s surreal way and arguably more wholesome. Also Ren & Stimpy is based on the classic comedic duo of “Cruel, bitter and cynical” meets “stupid, lovable and goofy”. Our protagonists, Sara and Jefferey are both optimistic and positive kids, with distinct traits but nothing so polarizing. As to what I find attractive about the show: Nico Colaleo hired a diverse group of industry people (from different tiers), internet animators (and celebs) and even dedicated first timers creating exactly what a new cartoon should be and breaking down those “this is a boys club and only people from these 2 specific animator schools are allowed to join” which burdened the industry for so long. Additionally it’s just a really dumb, sweet and special show that comfortably rolls up nerd references, surreal goofiness, and solid positivity.Season 2 is going to be a blast!
