How to Pony: Part 1 - The Basics (If tumblr has blurred the images beyond recognition, here is a copy on my dA: link) Starting off with the general pony body structure. Future tutorials will elaborate more on the legs and head. Proportions will vary based on style and personal preference, but ponies will typically share some similarities (e.g. location of legs, number of heads). As a disclaimer, I’m not claiming this is the “right” way to draw ponies, this is just how I think about it. Hopefully it will be helpful for others.

Don’t worry Rarity, your secret’s safe with us.

This was based on a suggestion from @classicm223 . They asked for Rarity turning 30, but hopefully Rarity turning “29″ is close enough.

(If it’s blurry, it should clear up if you click on it)

Friendly reminder that GIMP does pretty much everything Photoshop does, and it’s 100% free. Fuck DRM and the license culture, we have plenty of open source options available to us as a consumer.

  • Lightworks is a freeware video editor on par with Premiere
  • Blender is an excellent freeware 3D renderer, possibly better than After Effects
  • Lightzone to replace Lightroom
  • Inkscape to replace Illustratr
  • Audacity to replace Audition (I also received a free version of Pro Tools with my Scarlett Solo audio interface)

If Adobe is going to be greedy shitheads, then fuck ‘em. Don’t use their stuff. Freeware can be just as good, if not better, than Adobe CC.

Mayor Mare: “If anypony objects to this marriage, let them speak now.”

Moondancer: “That’s not a statistically sound approach to making objections! Objection isn’t binary! It’s a spectrum. If you asked everypony here, we’d probably each have some level of objection between zero and one hundred. By forcing us to make a choice between yes-objection and no-objection, you’re tilting things in favor of the marriage going forth! Really, you should get a distribution of everypony’s objections then see how far we deviate from the typical marriage-objection distribution.”

Moondancer: “If anypony’s objection to this marriage is greater than one sigma, speak now!”

Wedding guests: “…”

Moondancer: “Very well. The marriage may proceed.”

Cranky Doodle Donkey: “Do we know you?”

Moondancer: “Rogue statistician away!”

o no she’s adorable

This is the purest thing on the planet

Following it up with a bittersweet picture where Applejack can’t tell her younger self that she got that hat from their dad who passes away.

EDIT: When saying goodbye, AJ tells her younger self she’s stronger than she knows. I’m crying.

I know this is the third time I’ve reblogged this but I feel the need to add Fluttershy’s moment too:

Since lots of people are asking: all of this comes from the MLP one-shot “My Little Pony: IDW 20/20″, one of the comics IDW published celebrating the company’s 20th anniversary. It came out back in January, available both in comic shops and digitally.

It’s very lovely and wholesome and I 100% recommend it.

you know, life doesn’t have to be competitive. you don’t have to get in the very best university; you don’t have to get the highest paying career there is. you don’t need to compare and compete with everyone else in the world. you need to do what’s right for you. you need to relax, take a breath, and say ‘what do i want, for myself, to live as i want to’. and, if that involves high ambitions, then that’s fine. because you chose those ambitions on what you desire as an individual, and not on what is expected in order to succeed. let’s be ourselves this year.
