He's leaving today and we're all going to miss him and his weather forecasts T______T. We can do it, Anon! Just 2 years. He'll be back in no time. I saw this twitter video of him from 2013 to 2023 and I WAS UGLY SOBBING. We watched this boy grow into a man and so proud of him!! Hang in there, Anon! Showing versus Telling

I struggle a lot with "showing and not telling." Here's some exercises and techniques I've tried to practice this from researching different methods that I just conjured up together (please take with a grain of salt, everyone is different, lol.):

  1. Object Observation: Choose an object in your immediate vicinity and describe it without naming what it is. Include details about its texture, color, size, shape, and any other distinctive features. Basically: have someone else to identify it based on your description.
  2. Character Emotions: Write a list of emotions and for each one, write a short scene that shows a character experiencing that emotion without directly stating what the emotion is. i.e., Instead of saying, "Alistair was angry", you could say... "Alistair's fists clenched, his jaw tightened; his face turned red as he stared at the broken amulet on the floor."
  3. Active Verbs: Challenge yourself to rewrite sentences using more active, specific verbs. i.e., "She walked into the room" (telling) could become, "She strutted into the room, her boot heels clicking against the marble floor" (showing).
  4. Sensory Details: Choose a setting, real or fictional, and describe it using all five senses. What can a character see, smell, hear, taste, and touch in this environment, or moment?
  5. Dialogue: Use dialogue to reveal information about your characters and the plot. Instead of telling the reader that a character is upset, show it through what the character says and how they say it.
  6. In-Depth Character Description: Take a character from your story and describe them in detail. Show their personality through their actions, speech, and appearance, rather than direct statements.
  7. Rewrite Telling Sentences: Take a piece of your own writing or a passage from a book and identify the "telling" sentences. Rewrite them in a way that "shows" instead.

Hi anon! I only decided to write 18 because I have an affinity towards the number 18 as it's the day my husband and I got married. It just so happens the chapters worked out in that way.

You should def write to as many chapters as needed to convey the message of your story with overall pacing/events. Each chapter should have a purpose of leading towards that end point in your story whether it be as little as 5 or as many at 25 chapters. I will never not recommend outlining or mapping your story out as it will visually show you an approximation of how long your story will be. Hope this helps anon and I wish you all the best on your writing journey!!

Hello soon-to-be graduate Anon! Thank you so much for your kind words and congratulations! Are you graduating high school? University? It's completely and totally okay to be afraid of the unknown---especially with what life has to offer. I'm not sure if I can provide any worthy advice of value, but I do want to echo what Sehun always says.

Do what makes you happy (this is of course dependent on your lifestyle, financial situation, environment, extraneous factors of course). At your age, it's okay to not have everything figured out. It's okay to take it day by day. Heck---I'm in my 30s and my friends still don't have all of the answers. But there's a great joy in that, right? Every day is something new and something to look forward to.

As I don't know your life's situation, I hope your path is one that is filled with happiness and full of opportunities. You're young and you have time. Enjoy the days of your youth (Responsibly, of course:) )

Again, not sure if this helped but what you're feeling is normal, Anon. We all get scared of what lies ahead. But that's life. Take it day by day and somehow, I know you'll have it all figured it out. Congrats on your soon-to-be graduation, Anon! Hi Anon! It's completely okay to ask and I've actually been asked this before! A lot of the experiences Ahri went through are some of the events which have happened in my own life. I write better when I've experienced similar emotions to what I'm trying to convey. It's probably why some parts felt a bit real since I've dealt with that kind of harsh struggle in my past. Although, my parents have not passed/are not wealthy beyond belief haha.

But I'm glad they what I felt translated well into words so that you could feel the emotions too. It means a lot that you could feel the emotions as if they were tangible. tytyty
