i hate that we live in a world where mentally ill people feel obligated to apologize for relapsing/being suicidal/having breakdowns/hitting rock bottom like….there’s nothing worse than being in that position and feeling like you’re just letting everybody around you down. that makes my heart ache so much

Listen here. Taylor doesn’t lie in her songs. She doesn’t lie about her feelings. She even says in that song she held onto her pride which caused all the aftermath.

She has her point of view like anyone else. That POV can cloud reality. Its easier to shift blame than to be introspective and think about maybe what you did wrong in a relationship.

I am not sure how anyone can read the song as anything but Taylor saying that at the end of their RS, Calvin was all at fault because he didn’t do or act or say what she wanted him to and didn’t be who she wanted him to be. That he was jealous (what did she do to make him jealous?)

I’m sorry but just because she wrote a song saying they broke up because he wasn’t a “better man” does not mean she is saying she never did anything wrong.

Where is one lyric in this song she wrote that indicates that she could have or should have done anything differently? It was all the man needed to be better. The man was too jealous. The man didn’t give her his best. Maybe he did and it just wasn’t good enough for you. Maybe you had unrealistic expectations, you know?

a song does not show everything that happened. ts6 is still coming and I bet you there will be at least one song if not more on there where she blames herself.

We’ll see. I expect lots more shade and bashing of Calvin, because IMO that’s exactly what this song does.

Not sure why I ever expected for her to write anything nice about him or their time together.

Taylor makes a point about the importance of not judging people for their mistakes or what they do wrong. Yet for all the wonderful things Calvin did for her, all she shares is what she perceives that he did wrong? The hypocrisy is rampant and so real
