being aromantic and into whump is like. shoutout to whump for being a great opportunity to engage with stories about intimacy and vulnerability and powerful emotion and physical interactions with other people and intense relationships that are not presumptively based in romance. what would i do without you.
This might be a niche interest but personally I love when a kidnapped character has been mia for months, maybe even a few years, to the point when everyone else in their life has basically run out of gas trying to find them. They've tried everything. No leads. The authorities have stopped searching, everyone has called it quits. They've all mourned and grieved and cried, but basically they've all started trying to pick up the pieces and move on with their lives.
Only for the bad guy who captured the kidnapped character to whip them out as the ace up their sleeve in a negotiation when their own back is up against the wall. And not even prefacing it with a "Would you like your friend back?" or a "What would you do if I told you X was still alive?" Just showing up to the negotiation with X in tow, bound and gagged and in what is clearly an agonizing amount of pain, but somehow they're still breathing, after all this time...

As long as the Primordial Flame still burns inside him he will never die. He can't. No matter what happens to his body, he will get back up- sometimes in pieces. His body slowly regenerates over time, and can even regrow entire lost limbs or organs. He finds this fun fact out for the first time when he is completely decapitated in Malikah's Well. At that point, the light corruption inside him had reached the stage where healing was completely ineffective. So, while he was technically still alive, he couldn't fix himself. They essentially sewed his head back on and hoped for the best. Through the rest of SHB, he couldn't eat, drink, or talk. He was practically a walking corpse- with gaping holes and wounds in his body that wouldn't heal and bled continuously.
It was a rough time all around.

I am begging people to use LibreOffice and personal storage devices like hard drives or USB sticks instead of relying 100% on Google Docs. LibreOffice is free and open-source, it saves files to your own computer, and it lets you save as many different file types. You can write in it, format ebooks in it, and do everything you might possibly need to do as a writer.
"Oh, but I'll lose my USB stick--" Fine, back things up in whatever cloud you use as a form of extra protection, but you should also try your absolute damnedest to also put them on some form of storage that isn't a cloud.
I know it's not accessible to everyone, but if you at all have the ability, don't rely on shit that lives on other people's computers. Especially with everything going on with AI theft and aggressive censorship of adult media. If you don't store your files on your own personal computer that you have control over, your files aren't fully yours, and they're at the whims of whoever owns the cloud.
Learn where your files are stored and how to access them. Get into the habit of backing up your files to your own personal storage. Even if you're not up for intense tech research and you don't care about how the computer actually works, please stop letting your art live in corporate clouds.
I used to be a Google Docs only person, but LibreOffice is a really great, free option for local files! You can save and edit in all of the formats you could possibly need as a writer AND it comes with programs for creating and editing presentations, spreadsheets, and PDFs, and more.
Now, for most of my creative writing, I use Scrivener, which has really great templates for writing and publishing. It saves everything locally. I was able to get a license half off as a prize for completing NaNoWriMo one year, so if you're interested in taking that writing challenge, that's a pretty cool option!

Living-weapon whumpee not yet used to the idea of looking after oneself. Once it starts raining in the village, everyone runs inside or tries to walk under the balconies, fleeing from the water. Whumpee, tho, just doesn't even notice, since he has never been supposed to care nor slow the pace because of the weather. He keeps walking straight, alone in the middle of the streets, shaking because of the cold but not quite feeling it at all.
