A part of me turned empty when I lost you, and not a sun passes when I do not think of you. I wonder what your favorite animal is, if Olli is as good a friend to you as he was to me, if your hair is curly like your mother’s or straight like mine, and if your eyes are still blue. I pray every night that your days are filled with laughter, that every tear is shed from joy, and that you will grow in love and mercy and                 …forgiveness.

Emerlain adjusted his glasses as he stared up at the forest of spires and arches that stretched upwards toward the dizzying heights of Ishgard’s cloudy, grey skies. Fog obscured their points, hid their peaks behind a misty veil.

When he was a boy, he used to look up, up, up, and wonder what it was like to be part of the clouds. He used to climb as high as he could, up the side of a cathedral near his family’s estate. It wouldn’t take long before a priest spotted him and began to shout, dragging him by the ear as soon as his feet hit the ground.

“An’ what’s this s’pose to be, eh?” A man with a weathered face squinted down at a plain envelope in his calloused hands. His words slurred. The stench of liquor permeated the air around him. Alcohol, iron, and dust.

The scent of the Thanalans, the nameless courier silently mused behind apathetic eyes. This region was filled with people like the one who sat on an old bench in front of a rundown hovel in front of him. Trying to survive, drowning in drink, quick to anger, predictable and unpredictable at the same time. Dangerous.

“Eh?” The aged man asked again for emphasis. The question had not been rhetorical.

Selection: “I shall do my best.”

Job: Defender (Tank Role)

Weapons: Sword and shield, occasional Holy magic.

AI Behavior: As the tank class, Ruran will try to claim enmity on as many targets as are pulled by the player. He will use cooldowns when there are 3+ enemies, but he focuses primarily on single target attacks with the occasional AoE. During stack mechanics, he will use Cover on the player with the lowest HP (or the healer, if party HP is full), and he does not hesitate during precarious field conditions (ie, balance beam mechanic). Ruran will not use the tank LB unless he is the only one left alive, as a final stand.
