Lusamine and Tabitha is a very, very obviously unhealthy relationship- To everyone but Tabitha himself.
For once, the manipulator doesn’t realize he’s being manipulated. Tabitha has always been unhealthily attached to maternal figures due to his own childhood traumas, and after being constantly dismissed by Maxie her simple praises turn a gear in his mind that drives him to complete devotion. He truly believes she loves him just as much as he loves her and will defend her as much as he can.
Really, he was just being used as much as Guzma was, if not more.

Nimbasa, huh? Great choice! I like it there, it’s a nice busy city, and definetely a great place to make a base for our alliance!!
There’s a cafe close to the amusement park that’s a favorite of mine, we can go there!

Facts.” He quirked an eyebrow. “Second, you do know my mother taught me all of that information and more when I was like seven right? If you want to treat me like another punk, you’re going to be made a fool out of again. I was homeschooled by my mother so if you want to imply she raised an idiot, I’m sure you can complain to her about that as well. I’m sure she’ll be really receptive.”
“When you were seven, I’m fairly sure some of the new additions I put in place didn’t exist. So your information was once correct, but is now not. And she didn’t raise an idiot. She was just overly hopeful, and unfortunately had to learn the hard way that you can’t cure stupid.”
